Both Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence and Logan & Cove Frontier are hybrid mattresses with advanced cooling features and above-average motion isolation. But only Logan & Cove Frontier comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and the option of free shipping and returns with a full refund—all for just $1,299 for a queen size.

Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence and Logan & Cove Frontier are both hybrid mattresses with advanced cooling features and a Euro-top design. But while their construction is somewhat similar, these are two very different mattresses.

Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence, a mattress sold exclusively through The Brick, is made in the United States and has a cooling gel foam layer, phase-change material, and cooling fabrics, along with steel coils for body-contouring support. It also has above-average motion isolation. However, it’s priced higher than many other hybrid mattresses, it has very low edge support, and its 90-night sleep trial is shorter than average.

In contrast, Logan & Cove Frontier features advanced cooling elements such as cooling gel foam, latex-like Elastex® foam, and a quilted top cover woven with cooling nanofibres. With a three-zoned coil system, Frontier provides full-body support, motion isolation, and airflow, as well as very good motion isolation and edge support.

Firmness

According to The Brick’s website, the Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence mattress has a “plush” feel, placing it on the softer end of the firmness scale. Its cushioning comfort layer may appeal to lighter weight individuals and those who prefer deeper pressure relief and a more enveloping sleep surface.

In contrast, the Logan & Cove Frontier mattress offers a medium-firm feel. It combines solid support with enough plushness to ease pressure points, making it a suitable choice for a wide range of sleepers.

Medium-firm mattresses are generally recommended for most sleep styles, thanks to their balanced blend of support and comfort.

Edge Support

Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed—especially if you or your partner have mobility challenges.

Hybrid mattresses are known for good edge support, thanks to their supportive inner coils. However, the Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence mattress scored very low for edge support, at just 1.3/10.

In comparison, Logan & Cove has very good edge support with a score of 7.3/10. With Logan & Cove, you can sit comfortably on the edge of the bed, and you’ll have no trouble getting out of bed in the morning.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is important to enjoying a good night’s sleep without being disturbed by a restless partner, kids, or pets. Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence scored above-average at 6.8/10, while Logan & Cove scored slightly higher at 7.0/10. You should feel minimal movement from the other side of the bed with either of these two mattresses.

Bounce

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied. Hybrid mattresses with coils tend to be more bouncy and have a high response to pressure, making them easy to switch positions and move around on.

Both Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence and Logan & Cove Frontier have an average amount of bounce for a hybrid mattress, with both scoring 4.8/10. With either mattress, you should be able to change positions easily without waking your partner.

Cooling Features

Hybrid mattresses are more breathable due to their coils, which promote airflow. Beautyrest Black has a number of cooling features, including a TENCEL cover, gel-infused foams, diamond-infused foams, open-cell foams, and pocketed coils. With these features, Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence earned a cooling feature score of 6.1/10.

Logan & Cove Frontier has a Euro-top cover with breathable hollow fiber fill and gel-infused foam, CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, a layer of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, aeroduct micro coils, Elastex® foam (a breathable open-cell foam similar to latex), and pocketed coils. These features earned this mattress a slightly lower cooling feature score of 4.4/10.

Both mattresses have several advanced cooling features which can help you sleep more comfortably, especially if you are a hot sleeper. However, if you are looking for a more affordable hybrid cooling mattress, we recommend Logan & Cove Frontier, which costs $1,299 for a queen-size, compared to $3,649 for a Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence.

Logan & Cove Frontier Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: The first layer is 1″ of breathable hollow fibre fill and cooling gel-infused foam. It’s quilted directly under the Euro-top cover, providing a degree of plushness and directly dissipating your body heat when you’re lying down.
• Layer 2: The second is 1″ of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam that provides gentle cushioning and targeted relief for your shoulders, hips, and knees. It also helps control excess body heat for a cooler, more comfortable sleep.
• Layer 3: This layer features 1″ of aeroduct micro-coils to help keep temperatures down and provide extra body-contouring support. The coils are arranged to help air circulate across the entire mattress.
• Layer 4: This 1.5″ layer of Elastex® foam contours around your body, providing comfort for any sleeping position.
• Layer 5: The support layer contains 9″ of individually wrapped steel pocketed coils. The coils are strategically placed in a three-zone system across the mattress, giving you excellent contoured support.

Logan & Cove Frontier has a plush quilted cover infused with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres. The breathable hollow fibre fill, gel-infused foam, and cooling nanofibres give the mattress surface a cool-to-the-touch feel. Because of the Euro-top design, the mattress cover isn’t removable and can only be spot cleaned.

Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: The top layer consists of 1″ HI-LUX gel memory foam. This foam reduces pressure on your hips and shoulders, and the gel infusion is designed to help offset the heat-trapping properties of memory foam.
• Layer 2: The second layer is another 1″ of memory foam. It’s not clear whether this layer is infused with gel foam since The Brick doesn’t provide detailed descriptions for individual mattress layers.
• Layer 3: This 3″ foam layer could be made up of memory foam, based on the look and feel.
• Layer 4: A second 3″ layer of foam makes up the fourth layer of the mattress. It looks and feels similar to the layer above.
• Layer 5: A 1″ layer of grey foam forms the transition layer between the upper foam layers and the steel coils below. We believe this to be a layer of gel-based BlackLux foam, which is designed to be breathable and provide pressure-point relief.
• Layer 6: This layer is made up of 8″ triple-woven, triple-wrapped T3-LUX steel coils. The coils are individually pocketed to enhance motion isolation and provide contouring support.
• Layer 7: The final layer is 0.5″ of support foam. This provides some protection between the coil layer and the bottom cover of the mattress.

There is also a 0.5″ of filling in the top cover that contributes to the mattress’s plush feel. While Beautyrest promotes a layer of foam that’s infused with diamonds to promote cooling in this mattress, it’s not clear where this layer is located. Beautyrest’s mattress cover is made of TENCEL™, a breathable material that helps wick away moisture so you don’t wake up in a pool of sweat. The mattress cover isn’t removable and can only be spot cleaned.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence, sold exclusively through The Brick, is delivered by The Brick’s fleet of delivery trucks. Shipping time depends on your location, and The Brick’s website does not indicate how long it will take for you to receive your mattress. Shipping costs are calculated based on the distance between your home and the store where you’re ordering the mattress from. The mattress is delivered fully expanded and wrapped in plastic.

Logan & Cove ships by ground using FedEx. Your mattress is sent directly to your door for free throughout most parts of Canada. It should reach you in 2–11 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. Shipping fees may apply for some remote locations. Your mattress is shipped in a cardboard box, protected by multiple layers of heavy-duty plastic. Once unrolled, Logan & Cove fully expands within minutes of unpacking. You can sleep on the mattress the same day it’s delivered.

Logan & Cove has a sleep trial of 365 nights. If the mattress doesn’t work for your sleep needs, you can return it for a full refund. Logan & Cove will pick up returns for free within the sleep trial period. They will either donate your returned mattress to a local charity in your area, or recycle the mattress if donation isn’t possible.

With Beautyrest Black Signature Excellence, you have only a 90-day exchange period to test out the mattress. This is shorter than the industry-average sleep trial length of 100 nights. If you’re unsatisfied with your mattress and want to return or exchange it, The Brick will charge you to ship the mattress back to the store.

The Brick also doesn’t offer refunds—you can only get store credit to put toward a different mattress. You’ll need to pay the difference if you want to exchange Beautyrest for a more expensive mattress. You still won’t get a refund if you choose a less expensive mattress, either.

Logan & Cove comes with a 15-year warranty. In comparison, Beautyrest’s warranty is just 10 years. This is industry average, but still shorter than Logan & Cove’s longer warranty.
