It stands 12″ tall and has a medium-firm feel, according to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). The mattress is made in Canada using Canadian materials.
Hamuq features cooling gel foam, individually wrapped pocket coils, zoned support, and perforations to add pressure-point relief and breathability. Hamuq scored well in third-party engineer testing, with good scores for edge support and motion isolation. The mattress cover is not removable or machine-washable. Any stains must be spot-cleaned only.
While Hamuq has a number of features, it lacks some of the advanced cooling features you might expect from a hybrid mattress. It also has very few customer reviews outside of the company website. This makes it difficult to guess what your own experience might be like. In addition, some Trustpilot reviews complain of difficulty with returns and warranty claims.

Although the mattress comes with a 15-year warranty and a 365-night sleep trial, you could encounter difficulties filing a warranty claim or initiating a return. Many customers have reported issues with product quality, returns, warranty claims, and even just getting ahold of customer service for the warranty and return process. This concerning feedback doesn’t line up with S&S Hybrid’s near-perfect star rating on the company’s website.

15S&S Hybrid has a 12″ profile with 3 layers of foam and coils. Depending on whether you choose the medium-firm or plush version, this mattress has a medium-firm to medium level of firmness. The latest version of S&S Hybrid provides good motion isolation. While its edge support is above average, we noted a significant decrease in edge support compared to the previous version.
Silk & Snow advertises that the mattress’s non-removable cover has antimicrobial properties. However, the law label on the mattress we purchased only lists polyester as a cover material. There is no other publicly available information that indicates how the cover has antimicrobial properties.
Polyester is also known for its durability but isn’t commonly known as a breathable fabric, so you could find that the mattress cover traps heat throughout the night. To get a cooling cover, you’ll have to upgrade to the plush version of S&S Hybrid for an extra $550. However, this pricey upgrade still doesn’t include the advanced cooling features found in other hybrids like Logan & Cove Choice.

10Haven LUX Hybrid is a hybrid mattress available online via Haven Sleep Co’s website. It comes in two firmness options: Classic Plush (firm) and Classic + Advanced Pressure Relief (medium). Its layer construction includes foam and coil layers, meant to provide additional support if you’re the kind of sleeper who needs it. For this review, we ordered the Medium version.
Haven LUX Hybrid stands 14″ tall, with the pocket coil layer and micro coil layer accounting for 10″ of that height. The remaining four layers, not including the quilted mattress cover, are less than 1″ thick each. While these layers should work together to provide comfort and support, they may not be thick enough to provide all of the contouring, cooling, and spine-aligning features that Haven promotes.
This mattress offers very good motion isolation and an above-average level of bounce. However, edge support is lower than average for a hybrid. This is surprising given Haven LUX Hybrid’s reinforced foam edges.

Tuft & Needle used to be available through Sleep Country but is now exclusively carried by Costco. It’s only available for purchase online, which requires a paid Costco membership. And because it’s only sold through Costco in Canada, Tuft & Needle doesn’t come with a sleep trial. Instead you receive Costco’s return policy, along with the manufacturer’s 10-year warranty.
In comparison, other foam mattresses like Douglas offer more value with a 365-night sleep trial and a 20-year warranty. But Tuft & Needle’s limited features and restrictive policies mean the mattress just doesn’t provide enough value for the cost.

However, third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us) showed that the mattress is medium-firm—and just barely above a medium. Tuft & Needle Original has very good edge support but below-average motion isolation, which is unusual for a foam mattress.
The mattress contains just 2 foam layers. The top layer contains graphite and gel foam to provide cooling, but these are the only cooling features. The plush cover, made of micro-polyamide and polyester, isn’t machine washable and must be spot-cleaned only.
Tuft & Needle Original seems to fall short in quality, according to customer reviews. Some customers who purchased the mattress through Amazon have complained that the mattress sags and degrades within a few years of purchase. Others say that the mattress traps heat or has caused them back pain.

One of the mattress’s key features is the antimicrobial and hypoallergenic construction in its comfort layer. This layer is made of open-cell viscoelastic foam, but it’s not clear what makes it antimicrobial or hypoallergenic.
