Product Details
The Novaform ComfortGrande Plus mattress is designed to provide the comfort of memory foam at an affordable price. It has a medium-firm feel and comes in queen and king sizes only.
This mattress uses eco-conscious construction, including memory foam layers and a cooling top layer to enhance comfort. However, some customers have reported that the mattress has a tendency to trap heat, despite its cooling features.
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus is available online from Costco at $699 for a queen size or $849 for a king size. You might have trouble finding the mattress in-store for this price, since brand availability and pricing can vary depending on which Costco you shop at. You also can’t buy the mattress without a paid Costco membership.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Novaform sells its ComfortGrande Plus Mattress through Costco. This means you’ll need a valid Costco membership to purchase it. This mattress can be purchased either in-person or via Costco’s website. If you purchase in-store, bring a truck or van so you can transport the mattress home.
Costco offers free shipping and delivery service to online customers via UPS or FedEx, including mattress placement, setup, and removal of packaging. However, Costco estimates your delivery will take 10–15 business days to arrive. A “quick ship” promotion reduces this timeline to 3–10 days, but the offer may not be available for all customers.
Novaform offers a 90-night sleep trial, but Costco doesn’t. If you decide to return the mattress, Costco will provide return shipping if you bought the mattress online, but the return process will take 3–4 weeks. If you purchased in-store, you will need to bring the mattress back to the store yourself and return it at customer service.
Costco is known for its open-ended return policy, but it’s not clear whether you can still return the mattress to Costco after the 90-day sleep trial ends.
Novaform comes with a 20-year limited warranty, covering defects in manufacturing and workmanship. If you choose to make a warranty claim and Novaform agrees to make a replacement, the company will only offer one replacement during the warranty period.
Choose Douglas Original for a 365-night sleep trial and hassle-free returns.

Novaform Mattress Construction
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus is 14″ thick with 3 foam layers, which work together to help you sleep. Here’s a breakdown of the layers:
- Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is 3″ of EVENcor GelPlus™ foam, which Novaform claims will keep you cool and conforms to the shape of your body as you sleep. However, the Costco website has a number of negative reviews from customers who experienced overheating.
- Layer 2: The middle (transition) layer is 3″ of premium support foam, designed with air channels to facilitate the dissipation of heat and odors.
- Layer 3: The bottom (support) layer is 8″ of support foam. This large, dense foam layer provides the mattress with the most stability and support.
All foam used in this Novaform mattress is CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning that it contains no formaldehyde or ozone-depleting chemicals. However, foam density is unknown.
This mattress includes a fire sock, which is a fairly common safety feature. However, Novaform ComfortGrande Plus is made in the United States, where fire socks often contain fiberglass. This material can be harmful to your skin and eyes if it ever leaks out of the mattress.
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus has a quilted, moisture-wicking top for added comfort. It doesn’t have a removable or machine-washable cover.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 30 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
3.5 /10
Edge Support
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Novaform ComfortGrande Plus scored 3.5/10 for edge support. This is below average for a memory foam mattress. If you often sit on the side of the bed, this mattress might not have as much support as you need.
Want better support when you’re sitting on the edge of the bed, and an easier time getting up in the morning? Douglas Original is a much better option with its edge support score of 7.8/10—more than double Novaform’s score.
6.5 /10
Motion Isolation
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus has better-than-average motion isolation, scoring 6.5/10. This is good if you and your partner are sensitive to each other’s movements.
This level of motion isolation is not bad for most sleepers. But for a sleep that keeps you from feeling nearly all of your partner’s movements, consider competitor mattress Douglas Original with its much higher motion isolation score of 8.3/10.
3.2 /10
Bounce
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus scored 3.2/10 for bounce. A score this low is common for foam mattresses, and it’s good news if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken.
3.2 /10
Cooling Features
Novaform ComfortGrande Plus is designed to be a comfortable, affordable mattress. It has a few cooling features that are meant to help keep you comfortable while you sleep, including:
- Moisture-wicking top cover that pulls sweat away from your body
- Top layer of cooling gel foam to allow for enhanced cooling
- Air channels in the middle layer to permit airflow
Despite these features, Novaform has received multiple negative reviews about overheating. This is likely because the mattress’s cooling features don’t balance out the heat-trapping properties of its memory foam layers.
If you’re looking for an affordable mattress with tried-and-true cooling features, consider Douglas Original instead. Douglas has a layer of cooling gel foam and a moisture-wicking cover that’s also machine washable, and it has 16,300+ five-star reviews from verified customers.

Company Background
Novaform is a subsidiary of Innocor Inc., a New Jersey-based foam manufacturer that started in 1997 as Sleep Innovations. Novaform partnered with Costco in 2016, and has helped Costco to expand its influence in North American mattress retail.
In September 2023, Costco recalled approximately 48,000 Novaform mattresses—specifically its ComfortGrande and DreamAway models—from stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Regulators were concerned that the mattresses had been exposed to water during their manufacture, which could cause mould to develop. Customers who received affected mattresses could contact the manufacturing company, FXI, to receive either a full refund or a replacement.
Only Innocor Inc. is listed with the Better Business Bureau, with 1 complaint, but no reviews. Novaform does have an unclaimed Trustpilot page, but it also has no customer ratings or feedback. There are also less than 50 customer reviews for Costco’s Novaform mattresses online. The lack of reviews makes it difficult to say whether you would enjoy a Novaform mattress.
The handful of Novaform mattress reviews on Costco’s Canadian website mention a bad smell, even after the mattress has been unrolled and aired out for a while. There are also complaints of back and hip pain, and mentions of overheating while trying to sleep.
Douglas is rated “A+” on the BBB and is rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot.
