The three beds all performed well for edge support and motion isolation when tested by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), although Casper fell short of Endy and Douglas when it came to motion isolation.

Offering excellent motion isolation and very good edge support, Douglas is priced at just $799 for a queen size—the lowest of the three brands. Douglas also comes with a 365-night trial and 20-year warranty, plus a free bedding bundle featuring a cotton sheet set, duvet cover, down alternative duvet, pillow(s), pillow protector(s), and a mattress protector. In contrast, Endy and Casper only offer occasional sales with your mattress purchase, which may include free sleep accessories.

Douglas and Endy mattresses are both made in Canada. The Casper mattress we tested and reviewed was also made in Canada according to its law label, although a Casper Canada representative confirmed that their mattress models are made in both Canada and Vietnam.

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Douglas Original scored a 6.7/10 for firmness. The Endy scored 6.4/10, and The Casper scored 6.3/10. All three mattresses fall into the medium-firm category, making them suitable for a wide range of sleep styles.

Edge Support

Foam mattresses aren’t generally known for good edge support, but Douglas, Endy, and Casper all stood their ground. Douglas earned a very good edge support score of 7.8/10. Looking at the Casper mattress vs Endy, the Casper mattress also received a very good edge support score of 7.5/10, while Endy performed the highest at 8.5/10.

Douglas, Endy, and Casper are all combination foam mattresses containing three layers for comfort, transition, and support.

 

Douglas Original Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: The 2″ top layer of the Douglas mattress is made of ecoLight® cooling gel foam. It’s just as durable, comfortable, and body-contouring as memory foam. This layer also has open-cell construction for extra breathability.
• Layer 2: The 2″ middle layer is made of Elastex® foam, which is latex free, for extra responsiveness and support.
• Layer 3: The 6″ bottom layer is made of motion isolation support foam. This helps dampen movements from the other side of the bed and is one reason why all Douglas mattresses have excellent motion isolation.

Douglas features a machine-washable, stretch-knit cover made with plant-based Infinitex™ fibres. This soft, durable fabric is designed to stay cool and breathable, ensuring you sleep comfortably without overheating.

 

The Endy Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: This mattress’s comfort layer is 2″ of Endy Comfort Foam. Endy describes this proprietary material as being temperature-insensitive, so its firmness level doesn’t change in hot or cold weather. The polyurethane foam is open-cell for breathability and infused with cooling gel.
• Layer 2: Endy’s transition layer is 3″ of polyurethane foam, which promotes pressure-point relief and reduces motion transfer.
• Layer 3: The support layer of this mattress is 5″ of high-density polyurethane foam to ensure you feel well supported while you sleep.

The Endy mattress features a two-toned cover with a white, diamond-knit top and durable grey fabric at the base. Made mostly of polyester with a touch of Spandex for stretch, the cover is machine washable for easy upkeep.

 

The Casper Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer includes 1.5″ of polyurethane foam, which uses open-cell perforations to enhance airflow. Casper says this feature promotes comfort and regulates body temperature during sleep.
• Layer 2: The middle (transition) layer is 1.5″ of body-contouring memory foam. This supports your body and prevents long-term sagging in the middle of the mattress.
• Layer 3: The bottom (support) layer is 7″ of dense polyurethane support foam. This foundational component maintains the mattress’s structure and support, ensuring that you won’t sink too far into the upper layers.

Despite having a zipper, the cover on The Casper mattress isn’t designed to be removed and isn’t machine washable. Any spills or stains will need to be spot-cleaned.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

When comparing Endy vs Casper vs Douglas, all three mattresses offer doorstep delivery across most of Canada. Endy and Douglas ship via FedEx, while Casper uses UPS. Additional fees may apply for remote locations. It’s also worth noting that Casper only currently ships mattresses to select cities in the Canadian Territories.

Douglas ships from Ontario or Alberta with a shipping time of 2–10 business days. Endy ships from Ontario or Alberta in 1–7 business days. It’s unclear from where Casper ships its mattresses, but their mattresses are made and sold in Canada, with shipping estimates of 5–15 business days.

All three companies ship their mattresses in cardboard boxes, protected by two layers of heavy-duty plastic. Once unrolled, the mattresses fully expand within a few minutes. All three mattresses are sleep-ready on delivery day.

Douglas, Endy, and Casper will pick up returns for free within the sleep trial period and issue a full refund. Simply contact the customer service team to coordinate your return. All three companies will donate your returned mattress to a local charity in your area. If you buy your Casper mattress from Sleep Country, however, you’ll be subject to their exchange-only policy. This means no full refunds are possible, and there is an applicable $65 fee to exchange your Casper to a different Sleep Country mattress or product.
