Juno Hybrid and IKEA VALEVAG are two popular hybrid mattresses aimed at budget-conscious shoppers. While both mattresses pair foam layers with individually pocketed coils, only Juno is made in Canada with advanced cooling features and outstanding edge support. Juno also comes with a longer 120-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty, as well as a free bedding bundle—all for only $599 for a queen size.
Edge support and motion isolation are factored into our overall mattress ratings. These scores are shown in green (scores of 5.0+), yellow (3.0–4.9), or red (2.9 and below). Firmness, bounce, and cooling features are a matter of personal preference and aren’t part of our rating system, so these scores are shown in grey.

The Canadian-made Juno Hybrid has cooling gel foam, open-cell foam, and a layer of pocket coils. Combined with the optional Cool+ cover, this mattress provides more advanced cooling features than many similarly priced options. Juno Hybrid also features reinforced edges for outstanding edge support, along with zoned coils that provide extra lumbar support. Juno Hybrid comes with a 120-night sleep trial and is backed by a 15-year warranty. All Juno Hybrid orders also come with a free bedding bundle.
IKEA VALEVAG is also a hybrid mattress with zoned pocket coils. However, its memory foam layers don’t have cooling properties—the naturally breathable coil layer is the only cooling feature in this mattress. IKEA VALEVAG comes with a 90-night sleep trial, but IKEA’s policy only allows for a one-time exchange or store credit, not a full refund. It also comes with an industry-standard 10-year warranty.

This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Juno Hybrid earned a firmness score of 6.9/10, while IKEA VALEVAG received a slightly lower score of 6.7/10. Both scores are consistent with a medium-firm feel, although they lean to the firmer side. This level of firmness is considered ideal for all sleep styles, whether you sleep on your side, back, or stomach.

Juno Hybrid earned an outstanding edge support score of 9.3/10. A mattress with good edge support will keep your body feeling secure when you sit or lie near the edge of the bed. In comparison, IKEA VALEVAG earned an edge support score of 8.3/10. While this is an excellent score for a hybrid mattress, it’s still lower than Juno Hybrid’s.
A mattress with good motion isolation keeps you from noticing movement from other parts of the bed, like from a restless partner. Juno Hybrid received a motion isolation score of 5.3/10, which is average for a hybrid mattress. IKEA VALEVAG received a higher score of 7.4/10. This is very good for a hybrid.
Some people prefer a bouncier mattress than others. More bounce means a more responsive surface that makes it easier to change sleeping positions, while less bounce usually means a more consistent sleep surface. Juno Hybrid earned an above-average bounce score of 6.2/10. IKEA VALEVAG, on the other hand, earned a very low score of 2.7/10.
Juno Hybrid received a cooling features score of 4.7/10 due to its layers of gel foam, open-cell foam, and breathable pocket coils. Juno also offers an optional Cool+ cover to regulate temperature and improve airflow. IKEA VALEVAG earned a lower score of 0.6/10. Its only cooling feature is the naturally breathable pocket coil layer. If you’re a hot sleeper, you may prefer a mattress with more cooling features.

Both Juno Hybrid and IKEA VALEVAG are hybrid mattresses with zoned pocket coils, but they’re constructed differently. Juno Hybrid stands 10″ tall and has 4 layers, while IKEA VALEVAG is slightly shorter at 9.5″ tall and has 3 layers.
Like the Juno foam mattress, Juno Hybrid has a polyester and viscose mattress cover. It has a pattern of grey and white, with a berry-coloured stripe on one end of the mattress. If you want added temperature control, you can upgrade to the Cool+ cover, which includes cooling yarn. Neither Juno cover is removable and both should only be spot-cleaned in case of spills or stains.
IKEA VALEVAG’s mattress cover is made from polypropylene and recycled polyester. It has a plush comfort layer that makes up the final 1.25″ of the mattress’s height. The cover has a zipper, but it isn’t removable or machine washable. Stains should be spot-treated only.

Juno Hybrid uses FedEx to provide free ground shipping to most locations in Canada. You may need to pay an added fee if you live in a remote area. Orders ship from Ontario or Alberta and arrive in 2–10 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. The mattress is delivered to your doorstep wrapped in plastic and rolled up inside a cardboard box with convenient handles.

Many modern mattresses come with at least a 100-night sleep trial. Juno’s sleep trial is longer than this average at 120 nights, allowing you to try the mattress at home for three months. If the mattress isn’t right for your sleep needs, you can start a return and receive free return pickup with a full refund. Your returned mattress will be donated to a local charity or recycled. Juno mattresses also come with a 15-year warranty, which is longer than the 10-year industry average.
IKEA VALEVAG is available at IKEA, both in-store and online. Home delivery starts at $39 but could be higher depending on your location. Mattresses ship via FedEx and delivery time varies. You can also visit your local IKEA store to pick up the mattress and bring it home. Either way, the mattress is rolled up in plastic and secured with two straps.
While IKEA offers an industry-average 10-year warranty, it only provides a 90-night sleep trial. This is shorter than the 100-night trial that many mattress companies offer. If you decide to return IKEA VALEVAG during the trial period, you can arrange return pickup for a fee, or you can bring the mattress back to the store yourself. You will receive a one-time exchange or store credit, not a refund. The store will only accept clean, undamaged mattresses.
