IKEA Valevag is a 9.5″ hybrid mattress available in two firmness options: firm and medium-firm. We purchased the medium-firm mattress for this review. Valevag has excellent edge support and very good motion isolation, but a very low bounce score. This is unusual since hybrid mattresses are usually more responsive. The mattress also lacks any cooling features.
IKEA Valevag comes with fabric handles on the side to help with moving the mattress. Its stretchy cover is made using 100% recycled polyester and polypropylene. Although the mattress has a zipper, the cover isn’t removable or machine washable. Stains and spills should be spot-cleaned only.
Some customers have complained on IKEA’s website that Valevag started to sag and degrade only a few months after purchase. Others say the mattress became less firm during that same timeframe. A number of customers have stated that the mattress caused lower back pain.

IKEA gives you a 90-day trial to test out IKEA Valevag. The company offers a one-time exchange for a different mattress, or a refund for store credit on an IKEA refund card.
