Mattress Breakdown
Juno is a mattress made of 2 layers of CertiPUR-US®-certified foam. This includes a layer of body-contouring cooling gel foam and a layer of support foam. The Juno mattress offers excellent edge support (8.0/10) and above-average motion isolation (6.2/10). And it has several cooling features, such as open-cell foam, cooling gel foam, and an optional cooling cover made from cooling yarn to dissipate heat throughout the night.
Juno mattresses ship for free to most Canadian addresses and come with a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle that includes a sheet set, pillow(s), and a mattress protector.
So Sleepy is a mattress brand owned and sold exclusively by Leon’s, the popular Canadian mattress and home goods retailer. Similar to Juno, So Sleepy Arctic Cool is a 2-layer foam mattress consisting of a layer of cooling gel foam and a layer of bio soy support foam. It performed similarly to Juno in commissioned third-party engineer testing, with excellent edge support (8.3/10) and above-average motion isolation (6.3/10).
However, unlike Juno, the So Sleepy mattress doesn’t automatically come with a sleep trial. To qualify for a trial period, you must purchase a mattress protector along with your mattress. MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), both Juno and So Sleepy Arctic Cool scored 6.0/10 for firmness. This score falls in the medium-firm category, which is often the recommended mattress feel for most types of sleepers as it provides a comfortable balance between body-contouring comfort and support.

Edge Support
If you like to sit up or lounge near the edge of your bed without feeling like you will slide off, or if you have mobility issues and need some support when getting out of bed, a mattress with good edge support should be a priority.
Luckily, both mattresses in this comparison performed very well in this area, receiving excellent scores. The more affordable Juno mattress received an 8.0/10 score, while Leon’s mattress received a slightly higher 8.3/10. Either mattress will help you sit comfortably and feel supported.
Motion Isolation
Sharing a mattress with a partner, children, or pets is not always easy, especially if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily awoken by movement at night. This is where a mattress with good motion isolation helps.
Foam mattresses are better at reducing motion transfer because they absorb excess movement and aren’t as responsive as coils. Therefore, it’s no surprise that both the So Sleepy and Juno mattresses performed well, with scores of 6.3/10 and 6.2/10 respectively. Either mattress will help you sleep with minimal disturbances.
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied. Foam mattresses tend to offer a slower response time, which translates to lower bounce scores.
So Sleepy received a below-average score of 3.3/10. If you want a mattress with even less bounce, consider Juno, which received a lower bounce score of 2.5/10.
Cooling Features
Many modern foam mattresses incorporate cooling features to help offset the heat-trapping nature of traditional foam. For instance, So Sleepy Arctic Cool features a layer of gel-infused foam, and its cover is made of a silk-polyester blend, with the silk providing some moisture-wicking properties. But while it’s advertised as a cooling mattress, So Sleepy Arctic Cool earned a low cooling feature score of 2.4/10.
In comparison, the Juno mattress, which earned a higher cooling feature score of 3.2/10, offers additional features, including a layer of cooling gel foam, open-cell foam, and an optional cover upgrade crafted from cooling yarn to keep the mattress surface cool.

Juno Mattress Layers
- Layer 1: The comfort layer consists of 2″ of full-body cooling gel foam to help keep temperatures comfortable. It has a foam density of 2.5 lb/ft³.
- Layer 2: The support layer is 6″ of total support foam, which provides extra edge support and reduces motion transfer from the other side of the bed. Its foam density is 1.85 lb/ft³.
Juno’s knit cover, with a prominent berry stripe along the end of the mattress that pays tribute to the classic striped wool socks (a Canadian wardrobe staple) is made of polyester and viscose. It’s not machine-washable, so you should spot-clean any stains or spills. However, every Juno mattress comes with a free bedding bundle which includes a sheet set, pillow(s), and a mattress protector, helping protect your mattress and keeping it clean.
For just $79, you can upgrade your Juno cover to the Cool+ cover, which is made with cooling yarn to create a cool-to-the-touch surface that helps keep you comfortable at night.
Leon’s So Sleepy Mattress Layers
- Layer 1: The top layer is 2″ of serene cooling gel foam, which helps regulate body temperature and reduce heat buildup.
- Layer 2: The bottom layer is a bio soy high-density foam of 8″ that adapts to the body, promoting proper spinal alignment and relieving pressure points for comfort.
The So Sleepy Arctic Cool mattress cover is made of polyester and silk, providing a moisture-wicking surface. The cover isn’t machine washable and it should be spot-cleaned only.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
With Juno, you get a longer-than-industry-average 120-night sleep trial so that you can try your Juno mattress in the comfort of your own home. If you decide to return it during this period, Juno will arrange for your mattress to be picked up and donated or recycled, depending on what’s available in your area. If you decide to keep it, you can enjoy a 15-year warranty.
Leon’s offers local delivery to most locations in Canada, with mattresses delivered from the closest Leon’s store. Delivery time depends on your location. While delivery is free for orders over $799, the So Sleepy Arctic Cool mattress does not reach that threshold if purchased by itself, so you will have to pay a delivery fee of $50 on your mattress order. You can also choose to pick up your mattress in-store and forego this cost.
Leon’s mattresses come with an industry-standard 10-year warranty. While the So Sleepy mattress doesn’t come with a sleep trial on its own, if you purchase a qualifying mattress protector in the same order, you’ll be eligible for their “100 Night Sleep Comfort Guarantee,” which allows for a one-time exchange with free return pickup if the mattress isn’t right for you. You’ll have to pay the difference if you choose a more expensive model.
