Product Details
GhostBed Fusion is a hybrid mattress that stands 11″ tall. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), it earned a firmness score that’s consistent with a medium-firm feel. It has excellent edge support, very good motion isolation, and above-average bounce.
Unlike many other hybrid mattresses, GhostBed Fusion doesn’t offer zoned support. Costco’s inventory also varies based on your location and the product’s availability. At the time of writing this review, Fusion was only available in twin XL, queen, and king sizes.
Like many other GhostBed mattresses, GhostBed Fusion has a Ghost Ice fabric top cover, which isn’t machine washable. The GhostBed website says this cover is made with polyester, polypropylene, and spandex. However, none of these materials are listed on Fusion’s law label.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
For online shoppers, Costco offers free shipping and standard door delivery via FedEx, which is ideal if you can’t bring a mattress home in your vehicle. Costco estimates that the mattress will arrive on your doorstep in 7–10 business days. The mattress arrives rolled up in plastic inside a cardboard box.

While GhostBed offers a sleep trial, Costco doesn’t—meaning this mattress doesn’t come with a sleep trial. Instead, you can use Costco’s standard return policy. Costco only provides return pickup for mattresses purchased online, so if you bought yours in-store, you’ll need to bring it back to the warehouse yourself. (In comparison, similar brands like Logan & Cove offer a 365-night sleep trial, free pickups and returns, and a full refund if you aren’t satisfied with your mattress.)
GhostBed Fusion is covered by the manufacturer’s 25-year limited warranty. The warranty covers indentations over 1 inch not caused by a sagging foundation and any material cracking from normal use. After 10 years, you’ll need to pay at least 50% of the original price for a replacement.
Choose the mattress with a 365-night sleep trial, free return pickup, and full refunds.

GhostBed Fusion Mattress Construction
GhostBed is a hybrid mattress that stands 11″ high and has 4 distinct interior layers.
- Layer 1: The top layer is a 2″ blend of memory foam and latex, which is infused with gel and graphite. This layer will contour around your body. The gel and graphite infusions, as well as the latex, contribute to the mattress’s cooling properties.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 2″ of the company’s proprietary “GhostReflex” foam, which provides full-body contoured support.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 6″ of pocketed coils, which provide responsive support. The coils are also reinforced around the perimeter of the mattress, providing improved edge support so you can comfortably sit on the edge of the mattress.
- Layer 4: The support layer is 1″ of high-density base foam.
GhostBed’s “Ghost Ice” top cover contains polyester, polypropylene, and spandex. It’s used on most GhostBed mattresses, including GhostBed Fusion. This cover usually contains phase-change material, so GhostBed Fusion may have it as well. That said, Fusion’s law label doesn’t list these materials, and neither does the Costco website.
The cover isn’t removable or machine washable. In case of any spills or stains, Fusion’s cover should only be spot-cleaned.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

6.5 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), GhostBed Fusion had a deflection of 3″ when laid on, earning it a firmness score of 6.5/10. This translates to a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for all sleep styles.

8.0 /10
Edge Support
Edge support is how well a mattress supports your weight while you’re sitting on or lying near the edge of the bed. Hybrid mattresses often provide greater edge support than foam mattresses. GhostBed Fusion had a deflection of 4.2″ from a seated position, giving it a score of 8.0/10. This is an excellent score for a hybrid mattress.
7.5 /10
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from noticing movement from the other side of the bed. Hybrid mattresses tend to have lower motion isolation than foam mattresses because of the responsive inner coils. However, GhostBed Fusion earned a motion isolation score of 7.5/10. This is a very good score for a hybrid mattress.
6.1 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. A lower bounce score means a mattress provides a more consistent sleep surface, while a higher score indicates a more responsive mattress. Hybrid mattresses are often more bouncy than foam mattresses. GhostBed Fusion earned 6.1/10 for bounce, which is an above-average score for a hybrid mattress.

5.4 /10
Cooling Features
GhostBed Fusion isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, but it does have a number of cooling features to help keep temperatures comfortable at night. This mattress earns points for its:
- Cooling “Ghost Ice” cover, which has phase-change material and is cool to the touch
- Cooling gel in its comfort layer, which enhances heat dissipation and airflow
- Graphite infusion that promotes airflow and draws heat away from the body
- Latex foam, which promotes air circulation and heat dissipation
- Individually pocketed coils that allow for increased air circulation
If you’re looking for a cooling hybrid mattress at a lower price, consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice comes with a layer of cooling gel foam, open-cell Elastex® foam for breathability, a coil layer that promotes airflow, and a top cover containing cooling nanofibres, additional cooling gel foam, and a breathable hollow fibre fill. Logan & Cove is also priced lower at $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,399 for GhostBed Fusion.

Company Background
GhostBed’s parent company, Nature’s Sleep, was founded in 2001 by Marc Werner. The company’s first bed-in-a-box mattress—The GhostBed, now known as GhostBed Classic—launched in 2015. It was shortly followed by the GhostPillow and other sleep products.
When you’re shopping for a mattress, it’s important to consider the brand’s online reputation. GhostBed is currently rated “Bad” on Trustpilot with 1.4/5 stars. The business is rated “B” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau and has a customer review rating of just 1.43/5 stars.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are GhostBed mattresses good?
GhostBed mattresses often perform well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). However, the company itself is rated “Bad” on Trustpilot with 1.4/5 stars. And while it’s rated “B” (unaccredited) on BBB, it has a customer review rating of only 1.43/5 stars.
We think you should check out Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice also comes with advanced cooling features, but with the added benefits of zoned support, a 365-night sleep trial, free return pickup with full refunds, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase. It’s also more affordably priced at just $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,399 for GhostBed Fusion.
Where is GhostBed made?
GhostBed manufactures its mattresses in the United States and central Canada.
Where can I try a GhostBed?
Costco sells a small selection of mattresses in its warehouses. However, the company’s mattress displays don’t encourage people to try out the mattresses before they buy. Most Costco mattresses are only available online, so you’ll have to wait for the mattress to arrive at your home before you can try it out.
Does GhostBed need a box spring?
No, GhostBed mattresses don’t require a boxspring. According to the company’s website, you should pair your GhostBed with a slatted wooden mattress foundation, or a sturdy, adjustable bed frame.
How do you return a GhostBed?
Since GhostBed Fusion is a Costco-exclusive mattress, you’ll need to go through Costco’s return process. If you ordered your mattress online, contact Costco to start your return. They will arrange with you to pick up the mattress and issue a full refund. Customer reviews indicate that this process could take 2–3 weeks.
If you bought the mattress in the warehouse, wrap it in plastic and transport it back to the warehouse in person, where you’ll receive a refund. Costco also asks that the mattress be clean and in good condition.
Whichever way you shop, the Costco mattress return policy is known for being generous. There’s no time limit for returning items. But it’s always up to the retailer whether they’ll honour a return.
Is GhostBed worth it?
GhostBed mattresses have good features and a longer-than-average warranty, but they can be more expensive than comparable mattresses that offer similar features for a lower price. For example, a queen-size GhostBed Fusion costs $1,399. In comparison, hybrid mattress Logan & Cove Choice comes with similar features—as well as zoned support and a free bedding bundle—and costs just $999 for a queen size.
What GhostBed mattress alternatives should I consider?
We recommend Logan & Cove Choice instead. It comes with advanced cooling features, three-zoned support, and a 365-night sleep trial with free return pickup and full refunds. Choice is accessibly priced at just $999 for a queen size and comes with a free bedding bundle, while GhostBed Fusion does not.
