Product Details
GhostBed Fusion is a hybrid mattress that stands 11″ tall and has a medium-firm feel. It has excellent edge support and good motion isolation.
Unlike many other hybrid mattresses, GhostBed Fusion doesn’t offer zoned support. Zoned support provides targeted support and can help relieve pressure on the hips, shoulders, and back, which can help improve your sleep quality. Customer reviews indicate that sleepers have experienced back and shoulder pain due to the mattress’s lack of support. Despite the advertised cooling features, customers have also reported that the mattress retains heat.
Like many other GhostBed mattresses, GhostBed Fusion has a Ghost Ice fabric top cover, which isn’t machine washable. The GhostBed website says this cover is made with polyester, polypropylene, and spandex. However, none of these materials are listed on Fusion’s law label. It’s also not clear how the cover’s advertised cooling properties work, since none of the materials listed provide cooling benefits.
You must have a Costco membership to purchase GhostBed Fusion from Costco, and the mattress is subject to Costco’s standard return policy. Fusion is covered by GhostBed’s 25-year limited warranty. However, GhostBed has received negative media attention on CBC Go Public for refusing to honour warranty claims. Many customers continue to report issues with customer service and returns.
Inventory for GhostBed Fusion is also inconsistent based on your location and the product’s availability. At the time of writing this review, Fusion was only available in twin XL, queen, and king sizes.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
For online shoppers, Costco offers free shipping and standard door delivery via FedEx, which is ideal if you can’t bring a mattress home in your vehicle. Costco estimates that the mattress will arrive on your doorstep 7–10 business days.
While GhostBed offers a sleep trial, Costco doesn’t—meaning this mattress doesn’t come with a sleep trial. Instead, you can use Costco’s standard return policy. Costco only provides return pickup for mattresses purchased online, so if you bought yours in-store, you’ll need to bring it back to the warehouse yourself. (In comparison, similar brands like Logan & Cove offer a 365-night sleep trial, free pickups and returns, and a full refund if you aren’t satisfied with your mattress.)
GhostBed Fusion is covered by the manufacturer’s 25-year limited warranty. The warranty covers indentations over 1 inch not caused by a sagging foundation and any material cracking from normal use. After 10 years, you’ll need to pay at least 50% of the original price for a replacement.
While returns are arranged with Costco, you may have to deal with GhostBed’s customer service. GhostBed has received many complaints from customers on third-party review sites like BBB and Trustpilot. These issues are related to issues with GhostBed not honouring their own policies about returns and warranty claims.
Choose the mattress with a 365-night sleep trial, free return pickup, and full refunds.

GhostBed Fusion Mattress Construction
GhostBed is a hybrid mattress that stands 11″ high and has 4 distinct interior layers.
- Layer 1: The top layer is a 2″ blend of memory foam and latex, which is infused with gel and graphite. This layer will contour around your body. The gel and graphite infusions, as well as the latex, contribute to the mattress’s cooling properties.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 2″ of the company’s proprietary “GhostReflex” foam, which is supposed to contour around your body and provide full-body support. It’s not clear how the foam is designed to provide these benefits.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 6″ of pocketed coils, which provide responsive support. The coils are also reinforced around the perimeter of the mattress, providing improved edge support so you can comfortably sit on the edge of the mattress.
- Layer 4: The bottom layer is 1″ of high-density base foam, which acts as the mattress’s support layer.
GhostBed’s “Ghost Ice” top cover contains polyester, polypropylene, and spandex. It’s used on most GhostBed mattresses, including GhostBed Fusion. That said, Fusion’s law label doesn’t list these materials, and neither does the Costco website.
It’s not clear how the cover’s cooling properties are supposed to work. According to the GhostBed website, the cover may contain phase-change material, but this also isn’t mentioned on the mattress’s law label.
The cover isn’t removable or machine washable. In case of any spills or stains, Fusion’s cover should only be spot-cleaned.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
6.5 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), GhostBed Fusion scored 6.5/10 for firmness. This translates to a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for all sleep styles. That said, if you want a more supportive feel, you may want a slightly firmer mattress.
(Logan & Cove Choice’s 6.9/10 firmness score hits the perfect balance between comfort and support for a good night’s sleep.)
8.0 /10
Edge Support
GhostBed Fusion scored 8.0/10 for edge support. This is an excellent score. You’ll be able to sit on the edge of this mattress with no issues. You also won’t need to worry about falling off the bed if you sleep closer to the edge.
7.5 /10
Motion Isolation
GhostBed Fusion scored 7.5/10 for motion isolation, which is a very good score for a hybrid mattress. You shouldn’t notice your partner’s movements while you’re sleeping on this mattress.
6.1 /10
Bounce
Innerspring and hybrid mattresses tend to be bouncier and “springier” than all-foam ones. GhostBed Fusion earned 6.1/10 for bounce, which is an above-average score for a hybrid mattress. You shouldn’t have any difficulty changing positions on this mattress. However, this mattress may be too responsive to allow for a restful night’s sleep.
5.4 /10
Cooling Features
GhostBed Fusion isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, but it does have a number of cooling features to help keep temperatures comfortable at night. This mattress earns points for its:
- Cooling “Ghost Ice” cover, which has phase-change material and is cool to the touch
- Cooling gel in its comfort layer, which enhances heat dissipation and airflow
- Graphite infusion that promotes airflow and draws heat away from the body
- Latex foam, which promotes air circulation and heat dissipation
- Individually pocketed coils that allow for increased air circulation
If you’re looking for a cooling hybrid mattress at a lower price, consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice comes with a layer of cooling gel foam, open-cell Elastex® foam for breathability, a coil layer that promotes airflow, and a top cover containing cooling nanofibres, additional cooling gel foam, and a breathable hollow fibre fill. Logan & Cove is also more affordably priced at $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,299 for GhostBed Fusion.

Company Background
GhostBed’s parent company, Nature’s Sleep, was founded in 2001 by Marc Werner. However, the company’s first bed-in-a-box mattress—The GhostBed, now known as GhostBed Classic—didn’t launch until 2015. It was shortly followed by the GhostPillow and other sleep products.
The GhostBed brand is associated with celebrities like Venus Williams who claim to be happy with their GhostBed mattress. Customers, on the other hand, have filed a large number of complaints related to returns and warranty claims. In fact, one customer’s negative experience with GhostBed’s return policy was highlighted on CBC Go Public.
At the time this review was written, GhostBed is rated “Bad” on Trustpilot. The business also has a “C-” (unaccredited) rating on BBB and a customer review rating of 1.17/5 stars. Common complaints include false advertising, product quality, and difficulty arranging refunds or returns.
One of the most concerning BBB complaints comes from a customer who purchased a mattress on sale. This customer found that if they wanted to return the mattress, they would have to pay for the discounts applied to their order. We have observed GhostBed raising their prices during sales to provide a greater “discount” (see August 2023 vs December 2023), meaning customers have to pay a greater amount to return a mattress purchased on sale.
Most recently, the company issued a recall of the GhostBed Natural line of mattresses in 2024. The Consumer Product Safety Commission states that “the mattresses violate the smoldering ignition requirements of the federal mattress flammability regulation, posing a fire hazard.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Are GhostBed mattresses good?
GhostBed mattresses contain cooling features, but they are too often more expensive than the average mattress. Customers have also complained about problems with customer service and return claims.
We think you should check out Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice also comes with advanced cooling features, but with the added benefits of zoned support, a 365-night sleep trial, free return pickup with full refunds, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase. It’s also more affordably priced at just $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,299 for GhostBed Fusion.
Where is GhostBed made?
GhostBed manufactures its mattresses in the United States and central Canada.
Where can I try a GhostBed?
Costco sells a small selection of mattresses in its warehouses. However, the company’s mattress displays don’t encourage people to try out the mattresses before they buy. Most Costco mattresses are only available online, so you’ll have to wait for the mattress to arrive at your home before you can try it out.
Does GhostBed need a box spring?
No, GhostBed mattresses don’t require a boxspring. According to the company’s website, you should pair your GhostBed with a slatted wooden mattress foundation, or a sturdy, adjustable bed frame.
How long does GhostBed take to expand?
Ghostbed claims that its mattresses will expand to their normal size as soon as they’re unpacked. However, GhostBed’s warranty states that the company’s mattresses may take 24–48 hours to fully expand, and “may not recover to 100% of their total height” within up to 1″. So if you’re purchasing GhostBed Fusion, which measures 11″ tall, it may only expand to 10″ in height.
How do you return a GhostBed?
Since GhostBed Fusion is a Costco-exclusive mattress, you’ll need to go through Costco’s return process. If you ordered your mattress online, contact Costco to start your return. They will arrange with you to pick up the mattress and issue a full refund. Customer reviews indicate that this process could take 2–3 weeks.
If you bought the mattress in the warehouse, wrap it in plastic and transport it back to the warehouse in person, where you’ll receive a refund. Costco also asks that the mattress be clean and in good condition.
Whichever way you shop, the Costco mattress return policy is known for being generous. There’s no time limit for returning items. But it’s always up to the retailer whether they’ll honour a return. You also might not want to take a chance on returning an item several years after you bought it.
Is GhostBed worth it?
GhostBed mattresses have some good features and a longer-than-average warranty, but many customers have reported product and customer service issues. They’re also much more expensive than comparable mattresses that offer more features for a lower price. For example, a queen-size GhostBed Fusion costs $1,299. In comparison, luxury hybrid mattress Logan & Cove Choice has similarly advanced features and costs just $999 for a queen size.
What GhostBed mattress alternatives should I consider?
We recommend luxury hybrid mattress Logan & Cove Choice instead. It comes with advanced cooling features, three-zoned support, and a 365-night sleep trial and free return pickup and full refunds. It also provides excellent support, responsiveness, contouring, and pressure-point relief. Choice is accessibly priced at just $999 for a queen size and comes with a free bedding bundle for added value—something you won’t get with GhostBed Fusion.
