Product Details
The BedStory hybrid mattress has 4 foam and coil layers and stands 12″ tall. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), it earned a firmness score that’s consistent with a medium-firm feel. This level of firmness is suitable for all sleep styles. The mattress also earned very good scores for edge support and motion isolation, along with an above-average bounce score.
Apart from its naturally breathable layer of coils, this mattress doesn’t seem to incorporate any cooling technologies for a more comfortable sleep. The company describes the mattress’s top cover as being breathable, but the law label says the cover is 100% polyester—a material that’s known to trap heat.
In comparison, Canadian-made brand Juno is priced slightly higher at $499 for a queen size. It comes with greater edge support, a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle. The brand’s parent company, GoodMorning.com, is also rated “A+” on Better Business Bureau and “Excellent” on Trustpilot.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Note: We purchased this mattress from Amazon for this review, but it no longer seems to be available for sale. You may be able to find it through an individual mattress reseller.
While Canadians can browse the BedStory website, purchases must be made through third-party retail affiliates like Amazon and eBay. The mattress for this review was purchased from Amazon. You’ll need an Amazon account to purchase a mattress, but not an Amazon Prime subscription. Free shipping is provided to most Canadian locations. However, shoppers in remote destinations may be subject to an additional shipping fee.
Your BedStory mattress should arrive at your door in 2–7 business days. The mattress we received was packed 4 months before it was ordered, which can greatly affect a mattress’s comfort, performance, and longevity. This is one reason for the mattress’s lower-than-average overall rating. BedStory arrived wrapped in plastic and rolled up inside a cardboard box.

BedStory offers a 30-night sleep trial for their mattresses. This is shorter than the industry standard of 100 nights. Amazon doesn’t normally honour sleep trials but seems to allow one for BedStory. That said, Amazon requires customers to ship back any returns within 30 days of receiving the mattress. The company also offers a 10-year warranty, which is average for the mattress industry.

BedStory Mattress Construction
The BedStory hybrid mattress features layers of memory foam and coils. It has 4 layers in total. These layers are CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The first foam layer in the BedStory hybrid mattress is 0.25″ of an unspecified memory foam.
- Layer 2: The mattress’s next comfort layer is 0.5″ of a different unspecified memory foam.
- Layer 3: This transition layer is around 1.5″ of another unspecified memory foam.
- Layer 4: The bulk of this mattress and its support system is its 9″ pocketed coil layer. BedStory says the perimeter of the mattress uses reinforced coils for added edge support.
BedStory’s polyester mattress cover is not removable or machine washable. You will need to spot-clean any spills. Although the company describes the mattress as having a breathable top cover, polyester isn’t typically known for its breathability.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

6.8 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), the BedStory hybrid mattress had a deflection of 2.8″. This resulted in a firmness score of 6.8/10, which is consistent with a medium-firm feel. This level of firmness is suitable for all sleep styles.

7.5 /10
Edge Support
Edge support is how well a mattress supports your weight while you’re sitting on or lying near the edge of the bed. Hybrid mattresses can often provide greater edge support than foam mattresses. BedStory had a deflection of 4.6″ from a seated position, giving it a very good edge support score of 7.5/10.
(Want a mattress with greater edge support? Consider Juno with its higher score of 8.0/10.)
7.4 /10
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from noticing movement from the other side of the bed. Hybrid mattresses tend to provide less motion isolation than foam models. BedStory earned a motion isolation score of 7.4/10, which is very good for a hybrid mattress.
6.5 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. A lower bounce score indicates that a mattress provides a more consistent sleep surface, while a higher score indicates a more responsive mattress. Hybrid mattresses tend to be more bouncy than foam models. BedStory earned a bounce score of 6.5/10, which is above average for a hybrid mattress.
(Want a mattress with less bounce? Try Juno with its lower score of 2.5/10.)

0.6 /10
Cooling Features
BedStory isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress. That said, this mattress earns a small number of points for its:
- Layer of individually pocketed coils, which allows for airflow throughout the mattress
If you’re on the hunt for a mattress that will sleep cooler, you may prefer Juno. It earned a cooling features score of 3.2/10, thanks to its layer of cooling gel foam that helps dissipate body heat. You can also upgrade to the optional Cool+ cover, which features specialized cooling yarn for a more comfortable sleep.

Company Background
BedStory sells mattresses, mattress toppers, and bedding accessories in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Germany, and France. The company says it has sold its products in more than 90 countries.
The founders have been involved in the sleep industry since 1983, according to their website, with the company name being registered in 2018. However, Canadian shoppers aren’t able to purchase BedStory products directly from the company’s website. Instead, BedStory has approved third-party retailers to sell their products, such as Amazon and eBay.
Information about BedStory is not readily available. It’s not clear who founded the company or who currently owns it. There are also conflicting details on where the business is located. Despite varying information about the location of company headquarters, BedStory mattresses seem to be mainly manufactured in Cambodia. This isn’t clearly stated on the company’s website or on third-party site product pages.
The company is rated “Great” on Trustpilot with 3.9/5 stars, and “F” (unaccredited) on the BBB.
Choose the Canadian mattress company that’s rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are BedStory mattresses good?
The 12″ hybrid BedStory mattress we reviewed scored well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). This mattress is affordable and may be a good option for sleepers looking for a budget hybrid mattress. However, BedStory isn’t transparent about where their mattresses are made. The 30-night sleep trial is also much shorter than the 100-night industry average.
We recommend Juno instead. Priced at $499 for a queen size, Juno comes with a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle. Juno is made in Canada and has 5,400+ five-star reviews.
Where are BedStory mattresses made?
The BedStory mattress we purchased was made in Cambodia. BedStory doesn’t disclose where their mattresses are manufactured, either on their website or on their third-party seller sites like Amazon. It’s unclear whether all their mattresses are made in Cambodia, or if the company uses various manufacturing locations.
Who makes BedStory mattresses?
It’s difficult to find information about the BedStory company. The mattress we purchased was manufactured in Cambodia and shipped to Calgary, Alberta, four months before we placed our order. There isn’t any readily available information about the owner of the BedStory company, and there are conflicting reports of where the company is headquartered.
Where can I buy a BedStory mattress?
BedStory sells its mattresses on its website and through third-party retailers like Amazon and eBay. According to their website, they also have brick-and-mortar locations in California and Florida.
For Canadians, purchasing in-store or on the BedStory website aren’t options. You’ll need to shop through a third-party vendor if you’d like to order a BedStory mattress in Canada.
What BedStory mattress alternatives should I consider?
We recommend the Canadian brand Juno instead. Juno comes with a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle. You’ll also receive free shipping, as well as free returns with a full refund if you decide to return the mattress. At just $499 for a queen size, Juno offers more features than BedStory for a similar price.
