Hybrid Mattress with Zoned Support and Lofty Price

Casper Wave Hybrid is a luxury hybrid mattress made in the USA. This medium-firm mattress offers zoned support and is promoted as the brand’s most comfortable and supportive mattress. However, there are few other features that would explain the higher-than-average price of $3,499 for a queen size, which may be out of reach for some shoppers.

Casper Wave Hybrid has since been discontinued and replaced by Wave Hybrid Snow. While most Casper mattresses sold in Canada are now made domestically—following Sleep Country Canada’s acquisition of the brand’s Canadian operations—the Wave Hybrid Snow remains the only exception and continues to be made in the United States, according to a Casper Canada representative.

We recommend checking out competing mattress Logan & Cove Choice. Available at just $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove Choice is a Canadian hybrid mattress that offers three-zoned support for extra reinforcement under your back and hips, along with advanced cooling features and plush detailing—all for less than a third of Casper Wave Hybrid’s price.

Note: This mattress has been discontinued and is no longer available through the Casper website. You may still be able to find it through third-party resellers, but pricing, delivery, sleep trial, warranty, and other details may vary.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Note: Casper Wave Hybrid has been discontinued and is no longer in production. While you can’t buy Casper Wave Hybrid through the Casper website, you may be able to find the mattress through a third-party reseller. Their delivery, sleep trial, and return policies may vary.

The Casper Wave Hybrid mattress contains 6 layers constructed from latex, springs, foam, and gel pods. Combined, these layers provide cooling, ergonomic support, and durability.

  • Layer 1: The comfort layer is made of breathable polyurethane foam, coated with cooling gel for a refreshing sleep.
  • Layer 2: This layer includes natural and synthetic latex for added comfort and additional airflow and cooling.
  • Layer 3: This 2″ foam layer is divided into three zones with different densities. This provides added support beneath your lower back and hips.
  • Layer 4: This 1″ foam layer contains gel pods strategically placed under your waist and lower back to prevent sinkage and promote healthy spinal alignment.
  • Layer 5: The support layer consists of foam with individually pocketed 6″ coils. These coils respond to your body for a boost of support and reduced motion transfer.
  • Layer 6: The final 1″ foam layer provides extra support below the coil layer, which helps keep the coils from poking through the bottom of the mattress cover.

The soft knit mattress cover is a cotton and polyester blend, sourced from recycled plastic bottles. It isn’t removable or machine washable, so it should be spot-cleaned only.

Mattress Performance Results

Photo of a water jug sitting on the edge of the Casper Wave Hybrid mattress to demonstrate edge support

2.9 /10

Edge Support

Foam mattresses often score low for edge support, but a hybrid mattress’s inner coils tend to provide much higher support. Casper Wave Hybrid scored just 2.9/10 for edge support. If you frequently sit on or lie close to the edge of your bed, you may notice sinking on this mattress.

(Need a mattress with more edge support? Consider Logan & Cove Choice with its much higher edge support score of 7.5/10.)

6.9 /10

Motion Isolation

Casper Wave Hybrid has above-average motion isolation with a score of 6.9/10. However, the centre of the mattress is slightly less effective at absorbing movement than its edges. You may also notice more motion if you’re lying on an area that contains gel pods.

(If you want slightly better motion isolation in your mattress, consider Logan & Cove, which scored 7.5/10.)

5.4 /10

Bounce

A high level of bounce in a mattress can make it easier for you to change positions while you’re sleeping. Given its robust spring base and centre layers, Casper Wave Hybrid has an average amount of bounce for a hybrid mattress with a score of 5.4/10.

4.2 /10

Cooling Features

Casper Wave Hybrid isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, but it does have a few cooling features worth noting. This mattress earns points for its:

  1. Gel-infused foam and pods that allow for enhanced cooling
  2. Aerations in the top layer for extra airflow
  3. Latex foam layer, which adds breathability and air circulation
  4. Pocket coil layer, which adds further breathability and airflow

If you want a hybrid mattress with a higher cooling features score for a much lower price, consider Logan & Cove Choice. Choice comes with a layer of cooling gel foam and individually wrapped steel pocketed coils. The quilted mattress cover is designed with more gel foam, breathable hollow fibre fill, and cooling nanofibres for a comfortable night’s sleep.

At just $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove is also much more affordable compared to Casper Wave Hybrid’s $3,499 price tag.

Company Background

LaunchedCompany HQOwnershipBBB RatingTrustpilot Rating

2014

Brampton, Ontario (Sleep Country Canada HQ)

Sleep Country

Founded in New York City, Casper first emerged in 2014 as an early North American bed-in-a-box brand. The company expanded its product lineup over the years with substantial funding from organizations like the Target Corporation and celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher.

Casper went public in 2020 but was taken private again in 2022 after a stock collapse. Also in 2022, Casper shut down its European operations, focusing exclusively on the North American market. In 2023, Casper sold its Canadian operations to Sleep Country Canada, and in 2024, after attempts to stop losing money, its US operations were acquired by one of its suppliers, Carpenter Corporation.

Today, the company offers mattresses, bedding accessories, and home decor. Products are sold online, through branded retail stores, and through Sleep Country locations in Canada. Their mattresses are sometimes accompanied by rotating sales or deals that may include free sleep accessories.

Although Casper has separate American and Canadian operations, the brand has one combined Trustpilot page, which rates it as “Poor” (based on over 6,000 customer reviews). On the Better Business Bureau, Casper’s American profile is rated “A+” (unaccredited), but has a customer review rating of just 1.17 out of 5 stars. Casper does not have a Canadian BBB profile, but its parent company Sleep Country Canada has a customer review score of just 1.27/5 on BBB, and is rated “Poor” on Trustpilot.

Where Casper makes its mattresses depends on whether you buy in Canada or the USA. Casper Canada makes most of its mattresses in Canada, with select models manufactured in the US. We have received Casper mattresses made in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The label of each mattress has information about where it was manufactured.

Should You Buy Casper Wave Hybrid?

Casper Wave Hybrid is a supportive mattress made with premium details like zoned support and gel pods. However, this mattress is priced much higher than similar mattresses at $3,499 for a queen size. It’s also been discontinued. We recommend Logan & Cove Choice instead.

Logan & Cove Choice features even more advanced cooling, three-zoned support, and is handmade in Canada. Choice also costs less than a third of Casper Wave Hybrid—just $999 for a queen size.

Choice comes with a generous 365-night sleep trial, a longer 15-year warranty, free shipping and returns to most locations in Canada, and a free bedding bundle, compared to Casper’s shorter trial and warranty, and rotating deals that don’t always guarantee you a free accessory with purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Casper Wave Hybrid worth it?

Casper Wave Hybrid has a few noteworthy features, including zoned support, gel pods for spinal alignment, and cooling features like gel foam, synthetic latex, and breathable pocketed coils. However, at $3,499 for a queen size, this hybrid mattress is more expensive than many other mattress options on the market and may be out of budget for some Canadians. This mattress has also been discontinued and is no longer available through the Casper Canada website.

We recommend Logan & Cove Choice instead. It comes with multiple advanced cooling features, individually pocketed coils with three-zoned support, and a plush top cover for a balance between comfort and support. You can also upgrade to Logan & Cove Frontier or Pinnacle for added micro coil layers for greater responsiveness and pressure-point relief. All Logan & Cove mattresses come with a generous 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with purchase.

Is the Casper mattress cover machine-washable?

No, the cover is designed for spot-cleaning only. While the cover has a zipper, it shouldn’t be removed from the mattress.

Where can I buy Casper Wave Hybrid in Canada?

Casper Wave Hybrid is no longer available through the Casper Canada website. The mattress has been replaced by a different model with more cooling technology: The Wave Hybrid Snow.

You may be able to find the original Wave Hybrid through a third-party mattress reseller. However, pricing and policies will vary depending on the retailer.

What does the Casper warranty cover?

Casper mattresses come with a 10-year limited warranty, with the exception of clearance items, which are covered for 5 years. This warranty specifically addresses manufacturing defects, not including any problems related to using an unsupportive foundation or superficial damage like cuts or stains.

Where is the Casper Wave Hybrid mattress made?

Casper Wave Hybrid was manufactured in the United States, however, it has been discontinued. The updated model, Wave Hybrid Snow, is also still made in the States, although Casper Canada has shifted manufacturing for its other current models to Canada.

How much does Casper Wave Hybrid cost?

The mattress costs $2,899–$4,499 depending on the size you choose. The queen size is available for $3,499.

Does Casper Wave Hybrid come with a mattress protector?

Casper occasionally offers a promotion that gives you a free bedding bundle with your purchase, including a mattress protector. However, there’s no guarantee this promotion will be offered at the time of purchase. You may need to purchase a mattress protector separately.

Does Casper Wave Hybrid include cooling technology?

The mattress includes multiple layers of proprietary airflow technology and cooling gel. However, Casper doesn’t always explain in depth how these technologies actually work. If you sleep hot, make sure your mattress provides the right level of cooling before you buy it—or make sure you get a long enough sleep trial to test out the mattress at home.

What Casper Wave Hybrid alternatives should I consider?

If you’re seeking a quality hybrid mattress at a lower price, we recommend Logan & Cove Choice. This Canadian brand offers similar pressure-point relief and advanced cooling features, all for less than one-third of the cost of Casper Wave Hybrid. You can also upgrade to Logan & Cove Frontier or Pinnacle for added micro coil layers, giving you more responsiveness and pressure-point relief.

Logan & Cove mattresses come with a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, free shipping to most locations in Canada, and free return pickup with a full refund. These mattresses come with a free bundle that includes a mattress protector, pillow(s), sheets, and pillow protector(s).
