The medium-firm, 12″ Silk and Snow Organic mattress combines cushioning layers and pocketed coils to create zones of both soft and firm support. This should help keep your spine happy and is ideal if you have a heavier body type.
On the carbon footprint side, this mattress still has some room for improvement. The organic latex and wool used in S&S Organic are shipped from Sri Lanka and New Zealand, respectively. It’s not clear how eco-friendly this transportation might be. The mattress may not be the right fit if you have latex allergies, and we aren’t certain whether these materials can match the comfort and high performance of memory foam.

- Layer 1: This 1″ quilt layer is made from natural New Zealand wool, giving the comfort layer of your mattress a softer feel.
- Layer 2: The next layer consists of 0.75″ of latex sourced from Sri Lanka. The latex is produced using the Dunlop method, ensuring its organic nature compared to synthetic blends. The latex is certified by GOLS and eco-INSTITUT. This layer is perforated to help circulate air and contribute to a cooler night’s rest.
- Layer 3: Aside from having a depth of 1.75″, this latex transition layer is identical to the one above it.
- Layer 4: 8.5″ inches of high-density pocketed spring coils form the support layer and help absorb movement. Soft coils are placed along the outer part of the mattress, while firmer coils in the central third of the mattress help keep your spine aligned.
Crafted from organic Canadian-grown cotton, the S&S Organic mattress cover is GOTS certified. The cover offers softness and breathability but can’t be removed for cleaning.
