Our Rankings
Edge support and motion isolation are factored into our overall mattress ratings. These scores are shown in green (scores of 5.0+), yellow (3.0–4.9), or red (2.9 and below). Firmness, bounce, and cooling features are a matter of personal preference and aren’t part of our rating system, so these scores are shown in grey.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Simba 5000 is available for purchase through the Simba website, but all Canadian Simba purchases are fulfilled by Sleep Country. Because of this, Simba mattresses come with free shipping on any order above $75. However, a $120 shipping fee applies for remote areas like Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nunavut, and Newfoundland and Labrador. It should take 3–10 business days for your Simba mattress box to reach your doorstep, including dispatch and delivery time.

Simba 5000 comes with a 100-day sleep trial and a 10-year warranty, which is standard for the mattress industry. Simba guarantees coverage for any manufacturing flaws, but only covers damage to the mattress cover for the first year.
If you decide to return Simba 5000, you’ll only be able to exchange it for a new product—there are no refunds. Sleep Country also charges a $65 exchange fee for exchanging the mattress, and you’ll have to bring the mattress back to the store yourself, even if you ordered online.
It’s worth noting that brands like Logan & Cove offer a 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty—considerably longer coverage for a lower price. You can also return the mattress for a full refund if you aren’t completely satisfied.
Choose Logan & Cove Frontier with its 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.

Simba 5000 Mattress Construction
Simba 5000 is a 14″ tall hybrid mattress, meaning it has a foam comfort system over an innerspring core. This mattress includes 6 layers, including up to 5,000 micro-coils (depending on the mattress size).
- Layer 1: The comfort (top) layer is a 0.375″ hypoallergenic, hand-knitted wool surface. It’s designed with breathability in mind to keep temperatures down.
- Layer 2: This layer is 2.5″ of graphite-infused Simbatex. This is a type of open-cell foam that helps to regulate airflow.
- Layer 3: This layer is made up of 1″ micro-coils that contour around your body and spread your weight evenly across the mattress. Depending on the mattress size, this layer contains up to 2,500 coils.
- Layer 4: This is a second layer of 1″ micro-coils for contouring and weight distribution. This layer and the one above are surrounded by encasement foam.
- Layer 5: The transition layer is 2″ of support foam. This layer is designed to prevent rolling or dipping at the sides.
- Layer 6: The support layer is 7.125″ of support foam. This layer is divided into seven separate comfort zones with wool filling beneath. It also includes air channels for breathability.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

Edge Support
Edge support in a mattress helps support you when you sit or lie on the edge of your bed, and makes it easier to get out of bed in the morning. According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), edge support for Simba 5000 scored below average for edge support at 3.5/10.
(Looking for a higher edge support score? Check out Logan & Cove Frontier, which has an edge support score of 7.3/10.)
7.4 /10
Motion Isolation
Simba 5000 scored 7.4/10 for motion isolation, which is very good for a hybrid mattress. You should only notice larger movements from your partner or your pet if they’re sleeping directly beside you.
3.6 /10
Bounce
Simba 5000 scored 3.6/10 for bounce, which is below-average for a hybrid mattress. While bounce is a preference in a mattress, low bounce can pair well with good motion isolation for restful sleep, while higher bounce can help offer responsiveness to allow you to switch positions throughout the night.
(Need a little extra bounce? Consider Logan & Cove Frontier and its higher bounce score of 4.8/10.)

Cooling Features
The Simba 5000 mattress is a hybrid mattress advertised as having cooling features. This mattress earns points for its:
- Breathable top cover
- Wool in the comfort layer for moisture absorption and temperature regulation
- Graphite infusion in its Simbatex® foam, which promotes airflow and draws heat away from the body
- Open-cell foam, which allows for better airflow and prevents heat retention in the mattress
- Micro-coils that allow for increased air circulation
- Ventilated foam, which enhances airflow
If you’re looking for a similar cooling feature score at a lower price point, consider Logan & Cove Frontier. Designed with a cooling nanofibre cover, cooling gel foam, micro-coils, and individually wrapped coils, Frontier is available at just $1,299 for a queen size, compared to $2,499 for Simba 5000.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the best Simba mattress?
Simba 5000 is positioned as the most premium mattress in the lineup with its high number of micro-coils, although Simba 1500 and 2500 have good features as well. That said, of the three Simba mattresses we reviewed, Simba 5000 earned the lowest scores for edge support and motion isolation in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us).
Can I clean the Simba 5000 mattress?
According to Simba’s website, it’s okay to use light fabric cleaning products (like Febreze) or just a damp cloth to wipe it clean. The company strongly advises against removing the cover to clean the interior, however.
Is the Simba 5000 mattress pad machine washable?
No. The manufacturer states that its mattress pads are spot-clean only.
What kind of physical support does Simba 5000 need?
According to the manufacturer, Simba 5000 works with any kind of support you might use for most other mattress types. This could include supports like a flat base, adjustable base, or box spring on a bed frame.
What does the manufacturer’s warranty cover?
Although Simba 5000 is no longer available for purchase on the Sleep Country website, and can only be purchased through the Simba website, Sleep Country’s warranty still applies to all Simba mattresses. Sleep Country offers a 10-year warranty on Simba’s behalf, which covers manufacturing defects but not customer misuse.
Where are Simba mattresses made?
All of Simba’s Canadian inventory is manufactured in Canada.
How long does a Simba mattress last?
According to experts, a good mattress should last 7–10 years. However, this can vary depending on the materials used in the mattress’s construction and how frequently it is used. There’s no strict rule, but if you notice visible sagging, lumps, or a decline in comfort and support, it may be time to replace it. Regular maintenance and proper care can help extend a mattress’s lifespan.
