Tempur-Pedic Bed-in-a-Bag Mattress

Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud is a memory foam mattress made in the US. Offering TEMPUR® foam, average motion isolation, and a medium level of firmness, the TEMPUR-Cloud mattress sells for $2,799 for a queen size.

Memory foam is known for heat trapping, so many mattress brands offer cooling features to cancel this out. Tempur-Cloud’s cooling features only include a breathable cover and an optional pocket coil add-on.

In comparison, competing memory foam mattress Octave Vista is designed with a cooling nanofibre cover, copper-infused memory foam, and phase-change material for advanced temperature regulation so you can enjoy a restorative sleep. It’s also available for a much lower price at just $899 for a queen size.

The 10″ Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud is the brand’s compressed mattress option. In Canada, shoppers can only purchase the all-foam version. It features a 3-layer design and is made with TEMPUR® foam. The breathable, moisture-wicking cover is not machine-washable. The mattress’s inner cover contains 23% “glass fiber”, according to its law label.

TEMPUR-Cloud is marketed as having a medium feel. It also has excellent edge support, average motion isolation, and below-average bounce.

TEMPUR-Cloud is more expensive than comparable bed-in-a-box brands at $2,799 for a queen size, with a shorter sleep trial and warranty period than many competitors. For example, competing memory foam mattress Octave comes with a 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.

TEMPUR-Cloud comes with a 90-night sleep trial and a 10-year limited warranty. These timelines are shorter than competitors like Octave, who offers a 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.

TEMPUR-Cloud can be returned between sleep trial nights 30–90, but you won’t receive a full refund. If you got free shipping with your purchase, you’ll receive your refund minus shipping charges. A $175 return fee taken from the full refund may apply.

TEMPUR-Cloud Mattress Construction

TEMPUR-Cloud stands 10″ and contains 3 layers of foam. According to a chat agent, all Tempur-Pedic mattresses are made with CertiPUR-US® Certified foam. 

• Layer 1: The comfort layer is roughly 2″ of TEMPUR® foam. This layer is described as soft and supportive. The TEMPUR-Cloud website doesn’t share the exact thickness of this layer.
• Layer 2: The transition layer is around 2″ of TEMPUR® foam. The TEMPUR-Cloud website describes this as a firmer support layer that slowly adapts and conforms to your body for pressure-point relief. Similar to the comfort layer, the exact measurements of this layer aren’t available.
• Layer 3: The support layer contains about 6″ of premium foam. This layer helps the mattress stay structured and supportive.

TEMPUR-Cloud’s polyester/spandex top cover is breathable and moisture wicking. It isn’t machine-washable and can’t be removed. This could be partly because TEMPUR-Cloud contains 23% “glass fiber” (fiberglass) in its internal fire sock netting. (We safely removed the cover for the purposes of this review but don’t recommend doing the same at home.) Instead of removing the cover, spot-clean the mattress carefully when it gets dirty.

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud scored 5.5/10 for firmness. This rating places TEMPUR-Cloud at the lowest end of the medium-firm category, which brings it close to its advertised ‘Medium’ firmness.

If you’re looking for a mattress that falls within the firmer side of the medium-firm range, you might prefer Octave Vista. Vista scored 6.8/10 for firmness and features an innovative five-zoned support system to provide consistent ergonomic support beneath your back, hips, and knees.

Foam mattresses usually have average edge support. However, Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud provides robust edge support with an excellent score of 8.5/10. You shouldn’t have any trouble sitting on the edge of the mattress or getting out of bed in the morning.

Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from feeling movements from other parts of the bed. At 4.6/10, Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud’s motion isolation score is average compared to other foam mattresses. (For example, Octave Vista scored a much higher 7.3/10 for motion isolation in third-party engineer testing.)

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied. Memory foam usually has a slow response to pressure because it was designed to “remember” the pressure and contour to your body.

Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud earned a below-average bounce score of 3.6/10.

We were only able to identify two cooling features in Tempur-CLOUD, based on what the brand advertises. Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud earns points for its:

1. Top cover made with breathable, moisture-wicking fabric
2. Layer of individually wrapped coils that allow for air circulation (optional add-on)

If you want a mattress with more cooling features to enjoy more rejuvenating sleep, consider Octave Vista instead. Its features include a moisture-wicking cover infused with cooling nanofibres to pull sweat away from your body, heat-dissipating gel foam, ventilated foam for air circulation, and phase-change material that adapts to seasonal temperature changes.

Company Background

Founded in 1992, Tempur-Pedic was originally contracted to develop a material to cushion aircraft seats for NASA. Since then, Tempur-Pedic has emerged as one of North America’s most well-known mattress brands and is considered the gold standard in foam mattresses. In 2012, Tempur-Pedic merged with the Sealy Corporation to become the world’s largest bedding company, Tempur-Sealy International. As of February 2025, Tempur-Sealy has changed its name to Somnigroup International.

Despite Tempur-Pedic’s popularity, it holds a “Bad” rating on Trustpilot and is rated “B” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau with a 1/5 star customer review score. Tempur-Sealy, or Somnigroup, has a rating of “Poor” on Trustpilot and a customer review average of 1.1/5 stars on BBB despite their “A+” rating.

Should You Buy TEMPUR-Cloud?

While TEMPUR-Cloud has some good features, it has a high price tag compared to some other similar memory foam mattresses. It also doesn’t offer as many cooling technologies or come with a machine-washable cover. You may prefer Octave Vista instead.
