Product Details
The Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress is 12″ thick and has 3 foam layers. On the manufacturer website, the product page describes these layers as having a “supportive feel” meant to cradle your joints and align your spine. Its top layer is noted for its green tea and “ActivCharcoal” charcoal infusions, which are meant to keep this mattress feeling fresh.
Zinus Green Tea has excellent motion isolation, but very little bounce and comparatively poor edge support. It also has a very soft feel for a comfortable but less supportive sleep. Some customers complain of back pain as a result.
Because this is a memory foam mattress, you may notice higher temperatures while you sleep—and Zinus doesn’t offer cooling features to balance out the heat. The mattress cover is also not machine-washable, and removing it could “harm the fire safety barrier,” according to Zinus’s website. This barrier is made of either fiberglass or a rayon-based fire retardant, depending on where and when you buy the mattress.
Zinus is only available in Canada through third-party retailers, so prices will vary depending on where you buy. At $320 for a queen size, Zinus Green Tea has a lower price point than many other memory foam mattresses. Zinus also offers a 10-year limited warranty, which is about standard.
However, Zinus doesn’t offer a sleep trial in Canada. Competing foam mattresses like Juno come with a 120-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Zinus doesn’t ship directly from its website to Canadian customers. If you’re buying a Zinus Green Tea mattress in Canada, you’ll have to do it online via websites like Amazon or in-person through retailers like Walmart. Delivery timelines may vary widely between different retailers.
Though this mattress is more affordable than some other memory foam mattresses, remember that the Zinus Green Tea mattress doesn’t have an official sleep trial if it’s purchased in Canada. It’s up to individual retailers to offer a “try before you buy” period. This contrasts with other memory foam mattresses like Juno, which offers a 120-night sleep trial across Canada.
The mattress’s return policy also depends on which retailer you bought it from. Retailers’ return policies can vary widely, so always read the policy before you buy. Zinus also offers a 10-year limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects only. This matches the industry standard, but competing brands can do better. Juno offers a significantly longer 15-year warranty.
Zinus customer service is difficult to reach, which is a problem if you need to return your mattress or get warranty support. Zinus doesn’t offer online chat and doesn’t have a customer service phone number. Your only option is to fill out the contact form on Zinus’s website and wait for an answer. The company doesn’t provide a guaranteed response timeline.
Get Juno and enjoy a 120-night sleep trial with a 15-year warranty.

Zinus Mattress Construction
The Zinus Green Tea Mattress has 3 layers of memory foam.
- Layer 1: The top layer is 3″ of BioFoam memory foam, infused with charcoal and green tea. Zinus claims this keeps the mattress fresher for a longer time and helps to relieve aches and pains.
- Layer 2: This 2″ transition layer is a layer of Zinus Comfort Foam® designed to provide consistent support and softness while stopping you from sinking in too deep. Zinus Green Tea is extremely soft, which means the mattress is comfortable but may not provide as much support as you need.
- Layer 3: The 7″ foam base layer is designed to provide full-body pressure relief, long-term durability, and strong edge support. However, third-party engineer testing found that the layer doesn’t perform as well as expected for edge support.
The polyester-based mattress cover is not machine-washable. In the past, Zinus has used fiberglass in its mattress products to meet United States federal regulations on fire safety. A statement on Zinus’s US site says the company is transitioning away from fiberglass to a rayon-based fire retardant. It’s not clear when this transition is taking place, and Zinus still warns mattress owners not to remove the mattress cover.
It’s also possible that some retailers may still sell Zinus Green Tea mattresses containing fiberglass. Talk to your specific retailer and ask if the Zinus Green Tea mattresses in their inventory are models that contain fiberglass.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

Edge Support
The Zinus Green Tea mattress scored 3.3/10 for edge support. This is low, even for a foam mattress. If you’re looking for a mattress that allows you to sit comfortably on the edge, try Juno with its edge support score of 8.0/10.
8.6 /10
Motion Isolation
This mattress scored an extremely high 8.6/10 for motion isolation. This ensures that you and your partner will sleep soundly, and there’s a low chance that you’ll feel your partner moving around.
1.9 /10
Bounce
Zinus scored extremely low for bounce at 1.9/10. This isn’t surprising, considering the mattress’s high motion isolation score. If you’re looking for a more responsive mattress that makes it easier for you to get up, Juno might fit your needs better with its bounce score of 2.5/10.

Cooling Features
Zinus Green Tea isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress. It has no cooling features, so you may notice overheating at night.
If you’re looking for an affordable mattress with cooling features, we recommend Juno instead with its layer of cooling gel foam. You can also upgrade Juno to include a cooling cover crafted from special cooling yarn, which keeps surface temperatures low for a cooler touch.

Company Background
Zinus is a South Korea–based company founded in 1979 by Youn Jae Lee. According to the company’s website, it began as a tent manufacturer before expanding into mattresses. The company maintains an “F” (unaccredited) rating on Better Business Bureau. At the time of writing, Zinus has a “Poor” rating on Trustpilot with 1.6/5 stars, based on 66 reviews. 79% of those ratings are 1 star.
Overall, there are a significant number of customer complaints about the company and its products. Complaints include poor customer service and the company not honouring its warranty and return policies. Customers have also complained about missing parts and notable manufacturing defects, including fiberglass strands fraying and leaking through the mattress cover.
Zinus is currently facing a proposed class-action lawsuit after a California customer’s four-year-old daughter experienced serious health issues related to the fiberglass in her Zinus mattress. This is just one of several thousand people in the United States who say they were affected by fiberglass in the mattress. If fiberglass is a health concern for you, another mattress option like Juno might be safer.
Juno’s parent company has an “A+” BBB rating and an “Excellent” rating on Trustpilot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Zinus mattress cover machine washable?
No. Zinus warns that its mattress covers should not be removed. This is because of the fire sock beneath the cover, which may contain fiberglass (depending on where and when you bought the mattress). Unzipping the cover could release fiberglass particles and be harmful to your health. Instead, spot-clean any stains on your mattress cover.

What does the Zinus warranty cover?
Zinus’s 10-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects only. This coverage doesn’t include “deterioration of the foam that results in an indentation of less than 1.5 inches, not associated with a sag in the foundation, box spring or platform or mattress.” Any damage (including stains) will void the warranty, so Zinus recommends using an additional stain-resistant pad to protect the mattress.
Where are Zinus mattresses made?
Zinus manufactures its products across Asia and North America. The company currently manufactures the Zinus Green Tea mattress in China.
Does the Zinus Green Tea mattress need a special frame?
According to the manufacturer’s website, this mattress can be used with a “box spring, platform bed frame, slatted base, bunkie board, [or] adjustable bed frame.” Zinus recommends a flat surface for its mattresses.
What Zinus Green Tea mattress alternatives should I consider?
Are you looking for a firmer foam mattress with cooling features for a more comfortable night’s sleep? We think you’ll like the Juno mattress. It comes with a 120-night sleep trial, giving you four months to try Juno before making your decision. The 15-year warranty, from one of the industry’s most reputable companies, is also a vast improvement over Zinus’s 10-year coverage.
