Firmness

According to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), both Endy and Douglas are true to their advertised firmness levels at medium-firm mattresses. Endy has a firmness score of 6.4/10. Douglas, in comparison, earned a slightly higher firmness score of 6.7/10. Either mattress should be suited to a wide variety of sleepers.

Edge Support

Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed—especially if you or your partner have mobility challenges.

Foam mattresses aren’t typically known for strong edge support. However, Endy and Douglas both set themselves apart with their edge support scores. With a very good edge support score of 7.8/10, you should be able to comfortably sit on the edge of the Douglas mattress. The Endy mattress has excellent edge support with an even higher score of 8.5/10. Either mattresses should provide you with a good amount of usable mattress space. 

Motion Isolation

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied.

Low bounce is good news if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken. Endy scored a 6.8/10 for bounce, which is far above average for a foam mattress. Douglas has a lower bounce rating of 3.1/10—a nice side effect of its excellent motion isolation.

Cooling Features

Foam mattresses can be known to trap heat, so many modern foam mattresses incorporate cooling features to help combat this.

Both Endy and Douglas are combination foam mattresses containing three layers for comfort, transition, and support.

Douglas Original Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: The 2″ top layer of the Douglas mattress is made of ecoLight® cooling gel foam. It’s just as durable, comfortable, and body-contouring as memory foam. This layer also has open-cell construction for extra breathability.
• Layer 2: The 2″ middle layer is made of Elastex® foam for extra spring and support. This is a latex-free foam with a similar level of responsiveness and support.
• Layer 3: The 6″ bottom layer is made of motion isolation support foam. This means you’ll hardly feel a thing from the other side of the bed, even if your partner is tossing and turning all night long.

The Endy Mattress Layers

• Layer 1: This mattress’s comfort layer is 2″ of Endy Comfort Foam. Endy describes this proprietary material as being temperature-insensitive, so its firmness level doesn’t change in hot or cold weather. The polyurethane foam is open-cell for breathability and infused with cooling gel.
• Layer 2: Endy’s transition layer is 3″ of polyurethane foam, which promotes pressure-point relief and reduces motion transfer.
• Layer 3: The support layer of this mattress is 5″ of high-density polyurethane foam to ensure you feel well supported while you sleep.

Both Endy and Douglas have a machine-washable top cover. Endy’s cover incorporates some Spandex, which provides a stretchy, moisture-wicking feel. However, only Douglas has a cooling cover made with plant-based Infinitex™ fibres. This proprietary fabric is stretch-knit, soft, and extremely durable. It also stays cool and breathable through the night.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Both Endy and Douglas ship by ground using FedEx. Your mattress is delivered directly to your door throughout most parts of Canada. Additional fees may apply for some remote locations. Including time taken to dispatch and deliver, Douglas arrives at your doorstep in 2–10 business days, and Endy arrives in 1–8 business days.

Both mattresses arrive in a cardboard box and are protected by two layers of heavy-duty plastic. Once unrolled, Douglas fully expands. Both Douglas and Endy are sleep-ready on delivery day.
