Firmness

Endy is considered a medium-firm mattress, but there’s an added touch of softness from the top layer. It has a significant amount of “hug,” which means you will sink partway into the mattress when you lie down and could find it difficult to move. This may not be ideal if you like to sleep in more than one position.

It’s worth noting that the previous version of this mattress felt considerably firmer during testing. However, this newer version seems to be softer but is still marketed as having the same firmness as the previous version.

Douglas, on the other hand, is a medium-firm mattress that’s remained consistent on quality since it launched. Douglas gently contours around your body with minimal sinking so you can change sleep positions more easily.

Edge Support

Although foam mattresses aren’t typically known for edge support, Douglas sets itself apart with its exceptional edge support, thanks to the all-around sidewalls. With an impressive edge support rating of 7.8/10, you can comfortably sit or lie on the bed’s edge without any fears of tumbling over.

The Endy mattress has good edge support at 7.3/10. While you shouldn’t have any trouble staying on the bed when you sit or lie on the edge, this score is still lower than Douglas’s.

Motion Isolation

In search of a foam mattress that offers exceptional motion isolation? Douglas is the best choice with a remarkable rating of 8.3/10. This means you can say goodbye to feeling any movement caused by your restless partner, or even when your kids or pets decide to join you in bed.

Endy has a good motion isolation score of 7.4/10. However, it pales in comparison to Douglas, which takes motion isolation to the next level—essential if you value uninterrupted sleep.

Bounce

Low bounce is good news if you’re a light sleeper who’s easily woken. Endy scored a 5.5/10 for bounce, which is average for a foam mattress. Douglas has a below-average bounce rating of 3.2/10—a nice side effect of its excellent motion isolation.

Both Endy and Douglas are combination foam mattresses containing three layers for comfort, transition, and support.

Douglas Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The 2″ top layer of the Douglas mattress is made of ecoLight® cooling gel foam. It’s just as durable, comfortable, and body-contouring as memory foam, minus the late-night heat. It’s also more eco-conscious.
  • Layer 2: The 2″ middle layer is made of Elastex® foam for extra spring and support. This foam is latex-free, making it a good option if you’re sensitive to latex.
  • Layer 3: The 6″ bottom layer is made of motion isolation support foam. This means you’ll hardly feel a thing from the other side of the bed, even if your partner is tossing and turning all night long.

Endy Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The 2″ comfort layer is made of Endy Comfort Foam, which provides some “hug” with a fair bit of sink. Endy also claims that the foam’s open-cell design improves airflow and keeps you cool while you sleep.
  • Layer 2: The 3″ transition layer of foam helps provide pressure relief for a more comfortable, tension-free sleep.
  • Layer 3: The 5″ support layer is designed to reduce motion transfer. This is important if you’re a light sleeper and your partner tosses and turns in their sleep.

When MattressReviews.ca contacted Endy, they declined to share any composition or density details about Endy Comfort Foam, other than saying it’s 100% polyurethane. Douglas, however, is open about its mattress construction and 2.5 lbs/ft³ foam density.

Both Endy and Douglas have a machine-washable top cover. However, only Douglas has a cover made with plant-based Infinitex™ fibres. This proprietary fabric is stretch-knit, soft, and extremely durable. It also stays cool and breathable through the night so you won’t wake up in a pool of sweat.
