If you’re shopping for an affordable hybrid mattress in Canada, Juno Hybrid and BedStory are two options that might land on your shortlist. Juno Hybrid is a Canadian-made mattress that combines cooling foam with pocketed steel coils for support and responsiveness. BedStory has memory foam and pocketed coils, is made in Cambodia, and is sold through major online retailers like Amazon.
Both mattresses are accessible options for value-focused shoppers. That said, only Juno Hybrid comes with advanced cooling features, zoned support, a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.
Edge support and motion isolation are factored into our overall mattress ratings. These scores are shown in green (scores of 5.0+), yellow (3.0–4.9), or red (2.9 and below). Firmness, bounce, and cooling features are a matter of personal preference and aren’t part of our rating system, so these scores are shown in grey.

Juno Hybrid is a Canadian-made mattress that layers cooling gel foam and open-cell foam over a layer of zoned pocketed coils. This combination is designed to deliver pressure-point relief, airflow, and support, while reinforced foam around the perimeter helps improve edge support. An optional Cool+ cover upgrade allows for more heat dissipation and breathability. The mattress comes with a 120-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.
The BedStory mattress is a hybrid mattress constructed with multiple memory foam layers over a layer of pocket coils. While its coil layer provides natural airflow, BedStory doesn’t have any additional cooling technologies. It comes with a 30-night sleep trial and an industry-standard 10-year warranty.

This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Juno Hybrid received a firmness score of 6.9/10. This places the mattress in the medium-firm category. BedStory earned a slightly lower firmness score of 6.8/10, which is also consistent with a medium-firm feel. While both of these mattresses fall on the firmer end of the medium-firm category, medium-firm mattresses are generally suitable for all sleep styles, including side, back, and stomach sleepers.
Juno Hybrid received an edge support score of 9.3/10. This is outstanding for a hybrid mattress. Strong edge support ensures your body is supported when you sit or sleep near the edge of the bed. BedStory earned a score of 7.5/10. This is very good for a hybrid mattress, but still lower than Juno Hybrid’s score.
A mattress’s motion isolation is how well it keeps you from noticing movement from other parts of the bed. Juno Hybrid earned a motion isolation score of 5.3/10. This is average for a hybrid mattress. BedStory earned a higher score of 7.4/10, which is very good for a hybrid.
The bounciness of a mattress is a matter of preference. More bounce means a responsive surface that makes it easier to change sleeping positions, while less bounce means a more consistent sleep surface with fewer disruptions. Juno Hybrid earned a bounce score of 6.2/10, while BedStory earned a slightly higher score of 6.5/10. Both mattresses provide an above-average level of responsiveness.
Juno and BedStory aren’t promoted as cooling mattresses, which is common for mattresses at their price points. However, they each offer a few cooling features to help you sleep cooler.
Juno Hybrid earned a cooling features score of 4.7/10 because of its gel foam, breathable pocket coils, open-cell foam, and optional Cool+ cover that helps regulate temperature and improve airflow. In comparison, BedStory earned a lower score of just 0.6/10. Its only cooling feature is the natural breathability of the pocket coil layer.

Both Juno Hybrid and BedStory are hybrid mattresses with 4 layers, including a layer of individually pocketed coils. However, the thickness of these layers varies between the two mattresses. Juno Hybrid stands 10″ tall and BedStory is 12″ tall. Juno Hybrid’s foam layers also add up to 4″ of its overall height, while BedStory only has 2.25″ of foam in total.
The Juno Hybrid mattress cover has a grey-white-and-berry pattern like the Juno foam mattress. It’s made from polyester and viscose, with a prominent berry-coloured stripe on one end of the mattress. You can upgrade to the Cool+ cover to include cooling yarn for added temperature control. Neither version of the cover is removable, and should only be spot-cleaned in case of spills or stains.
BedStory’s parent company describes the mattress as having a breathable top cover, but polyester isn’t known for promoting airflow. The cover also isn’t removable or machine washable, but you can spot-clean it as needed.
