At MattressReviews, our goal is to help Canadians find the best sleep products for their needs through honest, evidence-based, and trustworthy content. Our mission is simple: to inform and empower shoppers by providing reliable, easy-to-understand guidance on mattresses and sleep accessories.
MattressReview.ca publishes various types of content, from detailed mattress reviews and side-by-side comparisons to ranked product lists and sleep guides. All content is data driven and backed by the expertise of our medical professionals wherever possible.
We are committed to clarity, inclusivity, and honesty in every article we publish. We strive to maintain neutrality in our reviews, even when covering products from our parent company, GoodMorning.com. Every recommendation we make serves the reader first and foremost.
Our editorial standards guide everyone who contributes to our publication sites—whether a staff writer, freelance reviewer, or medical expert—in producing content that is clear, compelling, compliant with Canadian advertising laws, and respectful of our readers’ trust.

Editorial Integrity
Transparency is a cornerstone of our editorial process, and we are committed to ethical writing. That means being honest about our affiliations, which is why we disclose GoodMorning.com’s ownership of MattressReviews.ca on every page of the website.
We do not tolerate plagiarism. Every piece of content is original or properly attributed with clear, accurate citations. If AI tools are used to assist in drafting, all content goes through human review for accuracy, tone, and originality. AI is not used to generate entire articles without editorial oversight.
Compensation Policies
No one on our team is permitted to accept gifts, discounts, or incentives from manufacturers. Our freelance writers are held to the same standard. If a writer has a past or present relationship with a brand, they must disclose it before working on any related assignment. We don’t feature content from contributors who cannot demonstrate editorial independence.
Our medical professionals are compensated for their contributions to website content out of respect for their time and expertise. All reviews provided by medical professionals depict an accurate personal experience with the product.
Fact-Checking & Sourcing Standards
Accuracy begins with sourcing. We only cite information from authoritative and reputable sources, such as government bodies like Health Canada, peer-reviewed journals, scientific research papers, and respected professional associations.
We avoid personal blogs, online forums, or user reviews unless they are used to illustrate a common consumer experience and clearly attributed to a factual source. Where preprints or anecdotal claims are cited, they are labelled as such and supplemented with a more authoritative secondary source whenever possible.
We do not use anonymous sources or unverifiable data in our assessments.
Review Policies
Every mattress we review is tested by certified, third-party engineers. We measure performance in four core areas: firmness, edge support, motion isolation, and bounce. Each score is based on a consistent formula, and all test results feed into our public scoring sheet.
Readers can see exactly how scores are determined using third-party engineer testing and weighted criteria like edge support, motion isolation, price, sleep trials, warranty, product features, brand reviews, and more. Accessory products like pillows and sheets are scored using published specifications, warranties, customer reviews, and brand reputation.

Mattress Review Policy
At MattressReviews.ca, we only review mattresses that we have personally tested. Every mattress is purchased independently—never gifted, discounted, or supplied by the manufacturer. We do not accept free products, samples, or affiliate commissions. This policy ensures that all reviews are unbiased and based entirely on firsthand experience.
We believe that credibility comes from hands-on testing, consistent methodology, and full transparency. As such, we will not publish a mattress review unless the product has gone through our official testing process with verified results from third-party engineers. This approach allows our readers to trust that what we report is not influenced by partnerships, incentives, or promotional pressure.
When comparing products, we always test the medium-firm option unless otherwise stated. Flippable mattresses are tested on their firmest side.
Sleep Accessory Review Policy
Our review process for sleep accessories, such as pillows, sheets, and bed frames, follows a different structure from our mattress testing protocol. Because we do not yet have a standardized engineering test for these items, our reviews are based on a holistic assessment of product features and consumer relevance.
Each sleep accessory is scored using transparent, repeatable criteria including material quality, feature set, price, warranty, sleep trial (if applicable), verified product reviews, and overall brand reputation. While we strive for objectivity, these reviews are informed by hands-on evaluation and product research.
All accessories are purchased directly unless they come free with a mattress purchase, such as part of a bundle. We do not accept gifted accessories provided for the purpose of inclusion in reviews.
We will not review or recommend an accessory we have not seen, handled, or analyzed in-house. This allows us to maintain the same editorial independence and trust as our mattress reviews, while acknowledging the different nature of these sleep products.
Brand Comparison Policy
We are committed to fair and balanced brand comparisons. MattressReviews does not unfairly criticize or disparage competitor brands in order to promote GoodMorning.com or any of its affiliated products.
All comparative analysis is objective, backed by third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), based on quantifiable data, and framed with neutrality in mind. We use our scoring methodology to standardize how features are scored and described in reviews.
Our aim is to provide consumers with a transparent, side-by-side look at features, benefits, and limitations so they can make informed decisions. We believe that trust is built through fairness, not exaggeration. Our role is to equip readers with enough credible, comparative data to draw their own conclusions.
Content Accuracy
We routinely review our articles to ensure accuracy. Pages with minor edits receive an updated timestamp. Major updates, such as new test results or product recalls, have a note at the top of the article. Discontinued products are flagged, and relevant content is updated or removed. Roundup lists only include currently available products.
We take version control seriously. Every change is tracked, and reviews are dated accordingly. If a mattress we reviewed no longer matches its original specifications, we add a disclaimer to inform readers that results may no longer apply.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of legal compliance. Our content adheres to Section 74.01 of the Competition Act and Provisions 1 and 6 of the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards. That means all performance or comparative claims must be accurate, truthful, and supported by adequate and proper testing data.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
We believe everyone deserves to access and understand our content. To that end, we write with clarity and inclusion in mind. Language avoids assumptions about gender, ability, or socioeconomic status. All images have descriptive alt-text. We avoid using colour alone to convey meaning and ensure our content is structured for screen readers.
