The Avocado Green Standard mattress stands 11″ tall and contains 4 layers. The Medium model has an additional Pillow-Top layer containing GOLS-certified organic latex foam. The foam layers are CertiPUR-US® certified.

  • Layer 1: Organic wool, dispersed at 1 ounce per square foot, serves as a natural flame barrier in the top (comfort) layer.
  • Layer 2: The second layer of 2″ Dunlop latex works with the top wool layer to provide responsive support and body contouring.
  • Layer 3: The third (transition) layer is made up of 6″ individually wrapped metal coils, offering targeted support and airflow. Depending on the size of the mattress, there are up to 1,379 support coils arranged in 7 ergonomic zones to support your shoulders, back, and hips.
  • Layer 4: The 1″ bottom (support) layer is also made of Dunlop latex for enhanced comfort.

Avocado Green doesn’t come with a machine-washable mattress cover unless you purchase one separately. Otherwise, the mattress can only be spot-cleaned in case of messes or spills.

Mattress Performance Results

2.9 /10

Edge Support

Edge support is how well a mattress supports your weight while sitting on or lying near the edge of the bed. Hybrid mattresses typically provide greater edge support than foam mattresses. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Avocado Green earned an edge support score of 2.9/10. This is a very low score for a hybrid mattress.

(Looking for a mattress with greater edge support? Consider Logan & Cove Choice with its higher edge support score of 7.5/10.)

6.6 /10

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from noticing movement from the other side of the bed. Hybrid mattresses tend to have lower motion isolation than foam mattresses due to their responsive inner coils. Avocado Green earned a motion isolation score of 6.6/10. This is above average for a hybrid mattress.

(Want a hybrid mattress with greater motion isolation? Try Logan & Cove Choice with its higher motion isolation score of 7.5/10.)

6.6 /10

Bounce

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. A lower bounce score indicates that a mattress provides a more consistent sleep surface, while a higher score indicates a more responsive mattress. Hybrid mattresses are often bouncier than all-foam mattresses. Avocado Green scored 6.6/10 for bounce, which is above average for a hybrid mattress.

Cooling Features

Avocado Green isn’t promoted as a cooling mattress, but it naturally contains several materials that provide cooling benefits. This mattress earns points for its:

  1. Wool in the top cover for moisture absorption and temperature regulation
  2. Perforations in the top foam layer for breathability
  3. Two layers of latex foam for air circulation and heat dissipation
  4. Layer of pocket coils for improved airflow

If you’re looking for a mattress with more advanced cooling features, consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. This luxury hybrid has a layer of breathable hollow fibre and gel-infused foam, a layer of cooling gel foam, individually wrapped steel pocketed coils, and a quilted mattress cover with and cooling nanofibres.

These advanced cooling features come at a much more affordable price of $999 for a queen size, compared to $3,499 for Avocado Green.
