Canadian Hybrid with Zoned-Support

Endy Hybrid, made by popular bed-in-a-box brand Endy, is the company’s hybrid model featuring layers of coils and foam. Endy is a Canadian brand that was founded in 2015 and acquired by Sleep Country in 2018.

The Endy Hybrid mattress is available in 3 different firmness options: firm, medium-firm, and plush. We purchased the medium-firm model for this review, which retails at $1,295 for a queen size. The firm option costs the same as the medium-firm, but the plush model costs an extra $200.

Endy Hybrid earned an excellent edge support score and above-average motion isolation score. It comes with an industry-standard 100-night sleep trial and 10-year default warranty, which can be extended to 15 years by registering as an Endy VIP. Sleepers looking for a longer sleep trial and default warranty may want to consider a brand like Logan & Cove instead.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Endy mattresses are made in Canada and ship directly from Endy’s warehouses to their customers. Your Endy mattress will ship in a box and should arrive on your doorstep in 2–8 business days. Shipping to most Canadian locations is free, but remote addresses will be subject to longer delivery timelines and a $150 shipping fee.

READ MORE: How to unbox a mattress

Endy ships mainly using couriers like FedEx, but for certain more remote orders, they partner with Frontier. While there aren’t size restrictions for the majority of Endy orders, the Endy website specifies that they’re unable to ship King or California King size mattresses to the Canadian Territories. They also only ship to 3 cities in the Territories.

Your Endy mattress will come with an industry-standard 100-night sleep trial and a default 10-year warranty. You’ll have up to 100 nights to decide if the mattress is the right fit for you. If it’s not, Endy will coordinate the return and pickup of your mattress for free, and have it donated to a local charity or recycled.

Endy’s warranty can be extended to 15 years by registering as an Endy VIP. The Endy Hybrid mattress warranty covers sagging not associated with improper use or base, and any physical flaws in the product, despite normal handling. Tearing of Endy Hybrid’s handles while moving or rotating the mattress won’t be covered by the warranty.

If you’re searching for extra protection for your mattress, Endy also offers an additional 3-year protection plan through Mulberry. For an additional $30 at checkout, you can get coverage for certain spills, stains, and accidental damage to your mattress.

In comparison, some Canadian mattress brands like Logan & Cove offer a longer 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty by default. Logan & Cove also comes with a free bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector to keep your mattress clean.

The medium-firm Endy Hybrid mattress features 5 layers and stands 12″ tall. For the same price, sleepers can also choose the 11″ firm model, or upgrade to the 13″ plush model for an additional $200. All foam used in the mattresses are CertiPUR-US® certified.

  • Layer 1: The first layer of Endy Hybrid is the quilted top cover. 1″ of foam is tufted directly to the material to create a plush sleep surface.
  • Layer 2: Endy Hybrid’s second layer is 2″ of the brand’s proprietary Comfort Foam. This is an open-cell polyurethane foam that includes a cooling gel infusion for a more temperature-controlled sleep.
  • Layer 3: A 1.5″ layer of transition foam helps to reduce motion transfer and keeps you from feeling the springs in the support layer below.
  • Layer 4: Endy uses 7″ tall individually pocketed coils arranged in a zoned pattern for its support layer. Thicker and more rigid steel coils are used around the perimeter and across the centre of the mattress for more lumbar and edge support.
  • Layer 5: A final 0.5″ foam layer helps cushion the coil layer as it rests on your bedframe.

Like many other hybrid mattresses, the cover on Endy Hybrid isn’t removable or machine-washable. It should be spot-cleaned only with warm water and a gentle detergent. While the Endy cover itself doesn’t seem to have any cooling properties, the mattress uses the brand’s open-cell foam quilted beneath the cover. Open-cell foam doesn’t retain as much heat as traditional memory foam or closed-cell foams.

Mattress Performance Results

7.0 /10

Firmness

Despite being described as a medium-firm mattress, Endy Hybrid received a firmness score of 7.0/10. This score is consistent with a firm feel. While firmer mattresses can be comfortable for stomach and back sleepers, they can sometimes cause shoulder and knee pressure points during side sleeping.

Edge Support

Hybrid mattresses like Endy often use a more supportive perimeter to ensure sitting or lying near the edge of the bed is easy and comfortable. In Endy Hybrid’s case, it uses a thicker and stiffer set of steel pocketed coils. These coils helped Endy earn an edge support score of 8.8/10, shown by its average 3.3″ deflection. This is an excellent score for a hybrid mattress.

6.5 /10

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from feeling movements from other parts of the bed. Endy Hybrid earned a motion isolation score of 6.5/10, This is above average for a hybrid mattress, but isn’t as high as the score for The Endy.

(Want a hybrid mattress with greater motion isolation? Consider Logan & Cove Choice with its higher motion isolation score of 7.5/10.)

5.8 /10

Bounce

Bounce in mattresses is a matter of personal preference. A higher bounce score indicates a more responsive mattress, while a lower bounce score may indicate better motion isolation. Different sleepers will prefer different bounce levels. Endy Hybrid received a bounce score of 5.8/10, which is just above average for a hybrid mattress.

Cooling Features

While Endy Hybrid isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, it incorporates some features to help maintain a comfortable temperature balance throughout the night. Endy hybrid earns points for its:

  1. Layer of cooling gel-infused foam that helps to dissipate excess heat
  2. Open-cell foam that creates a breathable sleep environment
  3. Layer of individually pocketed coils that allows air to move throughout the mattress

If you want a mattress with a higher cooling feature score, consider Logan & Cove Choice. Choice’s top cover features cooling nanofibres for a cool-to-the-touch feel throughout the night. Layers of breathable and gel-infused foams are incorporated with pocketed coils for additional airflow. These features are available for $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,295 for Endy Hybrid.

Company Background

LaunchedCompany HQOwnershipBBB RatingTrustpilot Rating

2015

Toronto, ON

Sleep Country Canada

Endy, founded in Toronto in 2015, is a well-known mattress-in-a-box brand. The Endy mattress quickly gained popularity in Canada after appearing on Dragon’s Den, and became one of the most recognized mattress brands, competing with other popular brands like Douglas and Casper. Endy was later acquired by Sleep Country Canada in 2018 and primarily sells their mattresses online as a subsidiary. Endy has also opened stores in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Alberta.

In addition to their original foam mattress, Endy also sells the Endy Hybrid mattress and a range of bedding accessories and living room furniture. The Endy foam mattress remains their most well-known product. Endy has thousands of customer reviews across their website’s various product pages.

That said, it’s important to look at customer reviews on third-party review sites such as Trustpilot and Better Business Bureau to get an idea of others’ experiences with the company. Endy is rated “A+” with BBB. However, their customer review rating is just 1/5 stars. The company is rated “Poor” on Trustpilot. Sleep Country Canada, which owns Endy, is rated “A+” (unaccredited) on BBB but has a customer review score of just 1.28 stars. Sleep Country is also rated “Poor” on Trustpilot.

Should You Buy Endy Hybrid?

Endy Hybrid performed well in third-party engineer tests (commissioned by us), with excellent edge support and above-average motion isolation. However, the mattress only comes with an industry-standard 100-night sleep trial and 10-year default warranty.

We recommend Logan & Cove Choice instead. Choice has greater motion isolation, more cooling features, and a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty—all for just $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,295 for Endy Hybrid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Endy mattresses good?

The Endy Hybrid mattress performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), with excellent edge-support and above-average motion isolation. This mattress might be a good fit for you if you’re looking for a firmer, Canadian-made hybrid mattress available for less than $1,300 for a queen size.

However, if you want a lower-priced hybrid mattress with more time to try it out, we recommend Logan & Cove Choice instead. Priced at $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove Choice is also made in Canada and earned an even higher score motion isolation. Choice also earned a higher cooling feature score than Endy Hybrid. Logan & Cove comes with a lengthier 365-night sleep trial, a default 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with every mattress purchase.

Where are Endy mattresses sold?

Endy mattresses are primarily sold online through their website. However, you may be able to buy an Endy mattress in a brick-and-mortar Endy store as well. The company has a number of store locations across Canada.

Where is the Endy Hybrid mattress made?

Endy mattresses are made in Canada. While the company shares that the all-foam Endy mattress is made in Ontario and Quebec, the company doesn’t specify where the hybrid models are manufactured.

Is Endy Canadian?

Yes, Endy is a Canadian-founded brand owned by Sleep Country Canada. The company became more widely recognized after appearing on the Canadian entrepreneurship show Dragon’s Den. Sleep Country Canada purchased Endy in 2023.

Is the Endy Hybrid Mattress cover machine washable?

No, it isn’t. The cover on the Endy Hybrid Mattress can’t be removed and washed because the quilted top cover is lined with foam. Endy recommends spot-cleaning any marks or stains using a damp cloth and mild detergent, and protecting your mattress even further by using a mattress protector.

What are the Endy Hybrid mattress dimensions?

The medium-firm Endy Hybrid mattress is offered in standard sizes with the following dimensions representing length, width, and height:

  • Twin: 75″ x 39″ x 12″
  • Twin XL: 80″ x 39″ x 12″
  • Full/Double: 75″ x 54″ x 12″
  • Queen: 80″ x 60″ x 12″
  • King: 80″ x 76″ x 12″
  • California King: 84″ x 72″ x 12″

The firm and plush Endy Hybrid models maintain the same length and width, but vary in height.

What is the Endy Hybrid firmness score?

The medium-firm version of Endy Hybrid scored 7.0/10 for firmness in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). This places the mattress in the firm category, meaning it has a slightly firmer feel than advertised. Because of its firm feel, the mattress is best suited for back, stomach, or heavier-weight sleepers. Endy Hybrid is also available in firm and plush versions.

What’s the difference between The Endy and Endy Hybrid?

The main difference when comparing Endy vs Endy Hybrid is their construction. While both mattresses contain Endy Comfort Foam in their layers, Endy Hybrid is a hybrid mattress containing pocketed coils in its support layer. The Endy is an all-foam mattress and is the only one with a machine-washable cover. Both mattresses are available in firm, medium-firm, and plush versions.

What does the Endy Hybrid mattress warranty cover?

The standard 10-year Endy Hybrid mattress warranty covers one-time repair or replacement due to manufacturer errors in the original size purchased. You can extend your warranty to 15 years by registering your mattress online at no additional cost. It’s important to note that the warranty doesn’t cover damage to Endy Hybrid’s fabric handles caused by improper handling.

What Endy Hybrid mattress alternatives should I consider?

Logan & Cove Choice is a good Endy Hybrid mattress alternative. Both of these mattresses have hybrid constructions, zoned support, and are made in Canada. Logan & Cove, however, offers a longer sleep trial and default warranty than Endy. Each Logan & Cove mattress will also come with a free bedding bundle with purchase, all for just $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,295 for Endy Hybrid.
