Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
IKEA ships mattresses across most of Canada via FedEx. Depending on where you live, delivery fees start at $39 for in-home delivery. You can also pick up the mattress yourself from your local IKEA store. The mattress is wrapped in plastic, rolled up, and secured with two straps.
ABROTTEN comes with a 90-night sleep trial, which is shorter than the industry-standard 100-night trial. IKEA’s policy only allows a one-time exchange or a store credit refund rather than cash back. If you exchange the mattress for a more expensive product, you’ll also need to cover the difference.
Returning the mattress doesn’t require re-rolling, but IKEA asks you to protect it during transit using a cover, plastic wrap, or an IKEA mattress bag (available at the delivery counter). Return pickup service may incur a fee and is done only if the mattress is clean and undamaged.
ABROTTEN is backed by a 10-year manufacturer’s limited warranty. This is standard for the mattress industry. That said, competing brands like Juno offer a 15-year warranty, a longer 120-night sleep trial, free delivery to most locations in Canada, and the option of a full refund with free return pickup. Juno mattresses also come with a free bedding bundle.
Shop Juno and get a 120-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty.

IKEA ABROTTEN Mattress Construction
IKEA ABROTTEN is a foam mattress. It stands tall 8″ tall, and has 3 layers. Foams used in this mattress are not CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The comfort layer is 1.25″ of high-resilience polyurethane foam. This layer provides pressure-point relief and prevents you from sinking too deeply into the mattress.
- Layer 2: The second (transition) layer is 1.25″ of polyurethane foam, which provides additional pressure-point relief.
- Layer 3: The support layer is 5.5″ of convoluted polyurethane support foam. This layer gives the mattress its sturdy structure so that you don’t sink too far into the upper layers, and also helps make it more breathable.
The IKEA ABROTTEN mattress cover is made of a blend of polyester and polyethylene and is lined with polypropylene, a breathable fabric that IKEA calls “sportswear fibres.” This gives the cover a soft and stretchy feel. Underneath the removable and machine-washable mattress cover, there is also an inner cover made of recycled polyester.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

Cooling Features
IKEA advertises the ABROTTEN mattress as having some cooling properties to help you sleep cool at night. This mattress earns points for its:
- Breathable, moisture-wicking polypropylene top cover, which IKEA calls “sportswear fibres”
- Perforated foam for improved airflow
If you need more advanced cooling features in an affordable mattress, you might prefer Juno instead. Juno has a layer of cooling gel foam to reduce heat buildup and promote airflow. It also comes with an optional Cool+ cover made with special cooling yarn, which helps control surface temperatures. Juno offers these enhanced cooling features for a lower price than IKEA ABROTTEN.
