Product Details
Kingsdown Passions Beckingham is a 14.5″ tall hybrid mattress with a Euro-top construction, very good motion isolation and excellent edge support, and a firm feel. While firm mattresses may be suitable for back and stomach sleepers, they are more likely to cause pressure points for side sleepers in areas like the hip and shoulder.
This mattress has a quilted Euro-top cover with gel fibre fill for a cool-to-the-touch feel. The cover isn’t machine washable and, according to the information on its law label, is made of viscose, polypropylene, and polyester fibres.
You must have a Costco membership to purchase Kingsdown Passions Beckingham from Costco. This purchase is subject to Costco’s standard return policy. The mattress is covered by a 10-year limited warranty. Although you’ll be able to take advantage of Costco’s generous return policy, this mattress doesn’t come with an at-home sleep trial, which is not typical for the mattress industry.
You may want to consider Logan & Cove Frontier instead. You’ll receive a hybrid mattress with a free bedding bundle, 365-night sleep trial, and 15-year warranty—all for $1,299 for a queen size.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Costco offers free shipping and “white-glove” delivery service, which includes mattress placement, setup, and removal of all packaging materials. Costco estimates that the mattress will arrive on your doorstep in 10-20 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. For an extra $75, they also provide their “haul away” service, where they will remove your old mattress for you.
While Kingsdown offers a 100-night sleep trial, Costco doesn’t. If you decide to return your Kingsdown mattress, Costco only provides a return pickup service for mattresses purchased online. Purchases made in person must be returned to a warehouse. Costco’s standard return policy applies, meaning your return has to be approved if you want your money back.
Kingsdown Passions Beckingham will come delivered to you fully expanded, wrapped in a layer of plastic. The mattress is covered by the manufacturer’s 10-year limited warranty. The warranty only covers normal wear and tear but not incidental damage, including while it’s being shipped to you. While returns are arranged with Costco, you will have to deal with Kingsdown to make a warranty claim.

Kingsdown Mattress Construction
Kingsdown Passions Beckingham stands 14.5″ high and has 6 distinct interior layers. CertiPUR-US® certification isn’t mentioned on either the Costco or Kingsdown websites for this model.
- Layer 1: The top layer is 1″ of quilted gel foam. This layer contours around your body while you’re lying down, and its cooling gel transfers heat away from your body.
- Layer 2: Working together with the top layer is another 1″ of quilted gel foam. Like the layer above, it conforms to your body and helps conduct heat away while you’re lying down.
- Layer 3: This layer is 1″ of Tri-Tech memory foam. It’s infused with gel, graphite, silver, and copper to add cooling and antimicrobial properties. This layer is also meant to promote pressure-point relief.
- Layer 4: The fourth layer is 1″ of unknown foam. No further details are provided for this layer on the Costco or Kingsdown websites, but it could be polyurethane, which is common in mattresses.
- Layer 5: Near the bottom of the mattress is a 9.5″ layer of individually wrapped coils. This layer is surrounded by a high-density foam encasement for “full body surround edge support,” according to the Costco product page.
- Layer 6: The final layer is 1″ of unknown foam. It has a higher density to support the coils above and cushion them against your bed frame.
The mattress cover is made of viscose, polypropylene, and polyester fibres. Under the top cover is a layer of gel fibre fill, which offers a cool-to-the-touch feel and helps regulate body temperature throughout the night. The cover is not removable or machine washable. Spills and stains should be spot-cleaned only.
While the Costco site mentions some of the foam materials in the mattress, it provides limited information about what the mattress layers and cover are made of. Kingsdown also doesn’t share these details on their website.
Want a mattress that uses CertiPUR-US® Certified foam? Consider Logan & Cove Frontier instead.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

7.3 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned) by us, Kingsdown Passions Beckingham had a deflection of 2.3″ under pressure, giving it a firmness score of 7.3/10. This places the mattress in the firm category, despite being advertised as medium-firm. A firm mattress can be comfortable for back and stomach sleepers, but can cause pressure points for side sleepers.
(Logan & Cove Frontier‘s 6.3/10 firmness score places it in the medium-firm category, the firmness recommended for the widest variety of sleep styles.)

8.0 /10
Edge Support
Kingsdown Passions Beckingham had a deflection of 4.2″ from a seated position, resulting in a score of 8.0/10 for edge support. This is an excellent score. You’ll be able to sit on the edge of this mattress with no issues.
7.4 /10
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from feeling movements from other parts of the bed. Kingsdown Passions Beckingham scored 7.4/10 for motion isolation, which is a very good score for a hybrid mattress. You shouldn’t notice most of your partner’s movements while you’re sleeping on this mattress.
5.6 /10
Bounce
Hybrid mattresses tend to be bouncier and “springier” than all-foam ones. Kingsdown Passions Beckingham earned a bounce score of 5.6/10, which is above average for a hybrid. The bouncier a mattress is, the more responsive it feels, which is a preference for sleepers that varies from person to person.
(Looking for a mattress with less bounce? Try Logan & Cove Frontier, which received a bounce score of 4.8/10.)

4.7 /10
Cooling Features
Kingsdown Passions Beckingham is advertised as having some cooling features. This mattress earns points for its:
- Gel fibre woven into the top cover, which enhances heat dissipation and airflow
- Cooling gel foam under the quilted cover, which helps regulate body temperature
- Gel-infused memory foam infused with copper, silver, and graphite which promotes airflow and draws heat away from the body
- Gel foam layer above the coil base, which helps regulate body temperature
- Individually pocketed coils that allow for increased air circulation
For a medium-firm mattress with the same cooling features score, you may want to look at Logan & Cove Frontier. It comes with cooling nanofibres, gel foam, and breathable hollow fibre fill in the quilted top cover, as well as open-cell foam, micro coils, and individually pocketed coils for extra airflow.

Is Kingsdown a good mattress?
Kingsdown Passions Beckingham performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). However, the mattress’s firmness score is consistent with a firm feel. A firm mattress isn’t suited for all sleep styles. You also need a Costco membership to purchase this mattress.
We think you should check out Logan & Cove Frontier instead. Frontier has a medium-firm Euro-top construction that will suit all sleep styles. In addition to a breathable top cover with nanofibres and a hollow fibre fill, it contains breathable micro coils, pocket coils, and cooling gel foam. At $1,299 for a queen-size mattress, Frontier comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, full refunds with free return pickup, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.

Where do you buy a Kingsdown mattress?
At the time of this review, Kingsdown Passions Beckingham is only available through Costco. You will need a paid Costco membership to make a purchase.
Does the Kingsdown mattress have fiberglass?
No, Kingsdown mattresses sold in Canada do not have fiberglass. Fiberglass is a common fire safety feature in mattresses made outside of Canada, especially budget options.

Where are Kingsdown mattresses made?
Kingsdown has operations across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. The Passions Beckingham mattress is made in Canada with domestic and imported materials.
Who makes the Kingsdown mattress?
Kingsdown mattresses are manufactured by Kingsdown, a subsidiary of Owen & Company. Owen & Company is itself owned by private equity group Novacap.
How long does a Kingsdown mattress last?
According to experts, a good mattress should last 7–10 years. However, this can vary depending on the materials used in the mattress’s construction and how frequently it is used. There’s no strict rule, but if you notice visible sagging, lumps, or a decline in comfort and support, it may be time to replace it. Regular maintenance and proper care can help extend a mattress’s lifespan.
