Octave Mirage Mattress Construction
The Octave Mirage mattress is a 13″ memory foam mattress with 4 distinct layers engineered with advanced cooling and comfort features. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified. This certification is given to products that are made with non-toxic materials, and it’s often expected by customers who are looking for a healthy sleep surface.
- Layer 1: Octave Mirage’s comfort layer is 2.5″ of CopperGel™ memory foam. This layer is treated with PolarMAX® phase-change material, which reacts to your changing skin temperature to keep your body comfortable. Copper is also an antimicrobial metal and helps promote cleanliness in the mattress’s top layer while drawing heat away from your body.
- Layer 2: Octave Mirage has a 1.5″ layer of aerated latex foam. This responsive material contours to your body and helps support you in any sleeping position, while also making it easy to move around or get out of bed.
- Layer 3: The mattress’s transition layer is 2″ of Elastex® foam. This proprietary material offers a responsive feel, and its open-cell construction promotes breathability.
- Layer 4: Octave Mirage’s support layer is 7″ of high-density, five-zoned support foam to promote spinal alignment and provide pressure-point relief.
Octave Mirage’s mattress cover is made with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres and moisture-wicking material. The 360-degree zipper allows you to remove your mattress cover and machine-wash it for easy maintenance.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
5.5 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Octave Mirage scored 5.5/10 for firmness. This score places it on the softer side of the medium-firm category. A medium-firm feel is ideal for all sleep styles and positions.
6.8 /10
Edge Support
Edge supports allows you to sit on the side of the bed or lie farther away from the middle without rolling or sliding off the bed. Foam mattresses aren’t typically known for providing good edge support. That said, Octave Mirage earned an edge support score of 6.8/10. This score is above average for a foam mattress.
7.3 /10
Motion Isolation
Mattresses with high motion isolation prevent you from feeling your partner’s nighttime movements, which can help you get a more restful night’s sleep. Foam mattresses tend to have higher motion isolation than hybrid and innerspring mattresses. Octave Mirage earned a motion isolation score of 7.3/10, which is very good for a foam mattress.
3.2 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. Lower bounce helps ensure a more restful sleep, while higher bounce makes it easy to change sleep positions. Octave Mirage received a below-average bounce score of 3.2/10. Foam mattresses often have a lower level of bounce compared to hybrid and innerspring mattresses.

7.7 /10

Company Background
Octave is the next step in the evolution of Novosbed, one of Canada’s first bed-in-a-box brands. Founded in 2009, Novosbed was the first company to offer a 100-night sleep trial. This was later extended to 365 nights. Octave has applied this deep experience and history of innovation to develop its line of memory foam mattresses—our pick for Canada’s best mattress for a good night’s sleep.
Octave Vista, Mirage, and Horizon are engineered with advanced features like temperature-regulating materials, antibacterial copper-infused memory foam, and five-zoned support to promote proper spinal alignment. All Octave mattresses offer very good motion isolation and above-average edge support, providing higher performance than Novosbed.
Octave is owned by GoodMorning.com, one of Canada’s largest independent mattress-in-a-box retailers. Octave is rated “Excellent” on Trustpilot with a customer review rating of 4.6/5 stars. GoodMorning.com is rated “A+” on BBB with a customer review rating of 4.89/5 stars.
If you have any neck, back, or shoulder pain, [Octave] is the best bed you can buy. Once you work it in, it’ll curve to your body and you’ll be pain-free and have a great sleep.

Tried other mattresses in a box and this is by far the best. Also tried top-of-line Tempur-Pedic memory foam and the Octave is the sweet spot of affordability and function. Would purchase again.

What does the Octave warranty cover?
The 15-year Octave mattress warranty covers repair or replacement in case of manufacturer errors.
What happens to returned Octave mattresses?
Returned Octave mattresses are donated to nearby community organizations or picked up by a local recycling partner, depending on regional restrictions.
Where is the Octave Mirage mattress made?
Octave Mirage is manufactured in Ontario and Alberta, Canada.
Does the Octave Mirage mattress need a special frame?
Octave Mirage works with any foundation, like an adjustable bed, solid foundation, or slatted base. Your Octave Mirage mattress will weigh at least 48 lb, so your bed frame must be sturdy enough to support both the mattress and your weight. You can buy a compatible foundation directly from Octave when you purchase your mattress.
Is Octave Mirage eco-conscious?
Octave’s top cover fabric was independently tested for harmful substances according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® (SH025 194423). Each foam layer is CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning it meets high standards for emissions, content, performance, and durability.
How much does the Octave Mirage mattress cost?
Octave Mirage pricing ranges from $899 to $1,399, depending on the size you choose. A queen-size Octave Mirage is available for $1,199.
What makes Octave Mirage different from Octave Vista?
Compared to Octave Vista, Mirage has twice the number of cooling nanofibres. Its interior has an extra half-inch of premium foam in the top layer for more contouring and pressure-point relief. Mirage also features an additional layer of aerated latex, which provides a more plush feel and improved air circulation.
However, Octave Vista is still an excellent entry-level memory foam mattress. It provides many of the same cooling and comfort features for a rejuvenating sleep, all for a lower price tag of just $899 for a queen size.
What makes Octave Mirage different from Octave Horizon?
Octave Horizon is the most advanced Octave mattress available, with greater motion isolation and more cooling features than either Vista or Mirage. It contains a 2″ layer of cooling gel foam for added cushioning and temperature regulation, as well as a layer of aerated latex foam and the most cooling nanofibres of any Octave mattress.
