Product Details
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite is a medium-firm, tight-top mattress that supports good posture while sleeping. However, it lacks edge support, despite having a reinforced foam border around the edge of the mattress. It also received the lowest score we have ever awarded for motion isolation at just 2.4/10, meaning you’ll notice every movement from a restless partner.
Aphrodite has some cooling features, like a mattress cover infused with silver ions and cooling yarn. It also allows for airflow between the support layers. However, this mattress also contains memory foam, which is known for heat trapping. (If you’re looking for a mattress with advanced cooling features, see our list of the best cooling mattresses in Canada.)
At $1,499 for a queen size, Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite isn’t as affordable as other foam mattresses with similar features—and better performance.
For example, Octave Vista offers more pressure-point relief, innovative five-zoned support, and advanced cooling technology. All of these features are designed to promote quality sleep and aid in your body’s natural overnight recovery, all for just $899 for a queen size.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Your Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite should arrive within 3–10 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. Note, however, that this depends on Sleep Country’s inventory and delivery schedule.
It’s important to note that Walmart sells Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite as a marketplace item. The product is sold and shipped by Sleep Country Canada, so Walmart’s return and warranty policies don’t apply.
You can test the mattress at home using Sleep Country’s 100-night sleep trial. If you decide to return your mattress, Sleep Country requires you to bring the mattress back to the store yourself. You can only return the mattress for store credit—no refunds—and you’ll need to pay a $65 exchange fee.
The Sealy warranty covers manufacturing defects only. It doesn’t cover damage to the mattress or indentations shallower than 1.5″. The warranty length varies according to the schedule number on the warranty tag—usually between 1 year and 10 years.
The Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite mattress we purchased has a “P3” warranty code. This means the mattress has a 10-year limited warranty with 10-year, no-charge repair or replacement. It’s important to note that this information isn’t publicly available. We had to check the law tag on the mattress we ordered, then compare it with Sealy’s warranty document, which is hard to find on their website.
Sleep Country also offers a 10-year warranty on most mattresses. However, Sleep Country has received customer complaints on Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot about product quality and warranty claims, which are issues that go hand in hand.
In comparison, some mattress brands like Octave offer a 15-year warranty. The company is also rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot. Octave maintains a rating of 4.7/5 stars across 6,400+ on-site customer reviews.
Pick the mattress with a 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty.

Sealy Posturepedic Mattress Construction
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite is 11.25″ tall and has 3 foam layers. These layers are meant to relieve joint pressure and moderate body temperature.
- Layer 1: The top layer is about 3″ of gel memory foam. This foam comfort layer contours around your body, which may create added heat while you sleep.
- Layer 2: Aphrodite’s transition layer is about 6″ of polyurethane foam. It supports your body and should keep you from sinking too deeply into the mattress.
- Layer 3: The bottom layer is roughly 1″ of support foam. This is thin for a support layer, meaning the mattress’s structure may not hold up over time.
The tight-top cover accounts for the final 1″ of mattress height. It contains silver ion-infused performance fibres, which Sealy claims will neutralize odours. Unfortunately, this mattress cover isn’t removable or machine washable.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

Edge Support
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite scored 3.9/10 for edge support. This means you will likely have trouble sitting on the edge of the mattress and could even find yourself sliding off.
In comparison, competitor foam mattress Octave Vista scored 7.5/10 for edge support—almost twice as high. You’ll be able to sit comfortably on the edge of the bed or sleep farther away from the middle of the mattress.
2.4 /10
Motion Isolation
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite earned the lowest score we have ever awarded for motion isolation at just 2.4/10. This is unusually low for a foam mattress, since foam normally cuts down on motion transfer.
If you sleep beside a partner, kids, or pets, Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite won’t provide the motion isolation you need for a good night’s sleep. Try Octave Vista instead. It scored 7.3/10 for motion isolation—over three times as high as Aphrodite.
4.6 /10
Bounce
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite scored 4.6/10 for bounce, which is fairly responsive for a foam mattress. You should be able to shift positions without any trouble.

Cooling Features
While Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Aphrodite isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, it does contain technologies that provide a certain amount of temperature regulation. Aphrodite earns points for its:
- Top cover with silver ions and cooling yarn for a cool-to-the-touch feel
- Gel infusion to promote cooling in the memory foam layer
That said, these features may not be enough to offset the heat-trapping properties of memory foam. If you’re looking for more advanced cooling features, consider Octave Vista instead.
You can enjoy a cooler, more restful night’s sleep with Vista’s temperature-regulating technology. This includes a moisture-wicking cover with cooling nanofibres to draw sweat away from your body, ventilated foam for air circulation, and phase-change material that adapts to seasonal temperature changes.
Vista’s memory foam layer also contains antimicrobial copper, carrying heat away from your body while promoting a clean, fresh sleep surface. Even with all these features, Octave Vista is accessibly priced at just $899 for a queen size, compared to $1,499 for Sealy.

Company Background
Founded in the 1880s, Sealy crafted customized mattresses in a Texas town, adopting the town’s name as its own. Sealy was an industry frontrunner by the 1920s. The well-known Posturepedic mattress line was added to the company in the early 1950s.
In 2012, Sealy merged with Tempur-Pedic, one of its biggest competitors, to become Tempur Sealy International, Inc. The corporation also owns the Stearns & Foster mattress brand.
Sealy holds a “B-” (unaccredited) rating on the Better Business Bureau, but a user score rating of only 1/5. On Trustpilot, Sealy has a “Poor” rating with a score of 2.3/5. Tempur-Sealy International also received a “Poor” rating on Trustpilot. Customers have reported issues receiving orders, using their products, and resolving warranty claims.
