Product Details
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal comes in three colour-coded firmness options: Blue (soft), Teal (medium), and Orange (firm). We purchased the Teal model for this review. However, third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us) revealed this mattress had a medium-firm feel, not the medium feel advertised. Our reviewers also noted that the mattress feels firm when you first lie down, but with time and body temperature, the viscoelastic TEMPUR-Material foam softens and contours around your body.
While memory foam is typically known its ability to stop motion transfer, the ProAdapt Teal mattress received a lower-than-average motion isolation score. Additionally, with this mattress’s lower-than-average bounce score and sinking feel, you could notice some trouble changing sleep positions.
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal has a cool-to-the-touch cover that’s manufactured separately in Mexico. While this cover is removable, a tag on the mattress suggests it shouldn’t be machine washed, contrary to what the Sleep Country website says. We recommend spot-cleaning it to be safe.
If you’re searching for a more affordable memory foam mattress brand with more features, you may want to consider Octave Horizon. Octave has good edge support and motion isolation, numerous advanced cooling features, and an innovative five-zoned support system that promotes proper spinal alignment. This Canadian-made mattress also costs just $1,499 for a queen size—less than a third of the price of Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is available at Sleep Country Canada. Orders over $75 are free and your mattress should arrive at your doorstep within 3–10 business days. Remote or semi-remote areas may be charged additional shipping fees and have longer delivery times.
You can also upgrade to Green Glove delivery for an additional fee. With this option, the Sleep Country delivery team will set up your new mattress or sleep accessories, then remove and haul away your old mattress.
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal shipped to us fully expanded, wrapped in plastic, and packaged in a large cardboard box. This differs in comparison to most modern boxed mattresses, which are typically compressed and rolled to fit in a more conveniently sized package. ProAdapt Teal was well protected, but the larger box size could make the mattress difficult to maneuver through your home.
When buying a mattress from Sleep Country, you’ll receive a 100-night sleep trial. However, this trial is exchange-only. As a result, you’re not able to return your mattress for a full refund if you decide it’s not the right fit. You’ll only qualify for a one-time exchange for a different Sleep Country mattress, and have to pay the difference for a more expensive model.
Your Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress is backed by a limited 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. This covers any manufacturing defects, like indentations, cracks, or rips. Tempur-Pedic’s warranty can be voided by using an incompatible mattress base, or by any spills and stains, so be sure to use a mattress protector and compatible foundation.
Want a longer sleep trial and warranty? Consider Octave.

Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal Mattress Construction
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is constructed with 4 layers and stands about 12″ tall. According to a Sleep Country representative, all the foam used in this mattress is CertiPUR-US® Certified.
- Layer 1: The first layer of this mattress is about 1″ of aerated TEMPUR® Material. The company says this material is different from traditional memory foam due to its open-cell foam structure, despite having a similar feel.
- Layer 2: This layer is approximately 2″ of a material the company calls Advanced Relief® material. It has the same slow responsiveness and contouring feel as the first layer.
- Layer 3: The third layer of this mattress is not described on the Sleep Country or Tempur-Pedic website, but appears to be 3″ of polyurethane foam.
- Layer 4: This mattress’s support layer is around 5″ of convoluted polyurethane foam, providing added pressure relief and airflow throughout the bed.
ProAdapt Teal both an outer and inner cover. The removable outer cover is made of polyester, polyethylene, and spandex and has a cool-to-the-touch feel. While the Sleep Country page describes the outer cover as machine washable, a tag attached to the mattress says to spot-clean it only. To be safe, we recommend not putting this cover in the washing machine.
The mattress’s inner cover is a thin piece of blue fabric described as a “High-Stretch Performance Panel.” This panel is meant to enhance the pressure-point relieving features of the foam layers, although the company doesn’t explain how it does this.
The Sleep Country website also mentions that the outer cover is made with 20% recycled material. However, the law label suggests that all the material used in the mattress is new.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

5.7 /10
Firmness
When tested for firmness by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress received a score of 5.7/10, indicated by its 3.0″ deflection as pictured above.
This score places the mattress in the medium-firm category, despite it being advertised as a Medium mattress by Tempur-Pedic. On Sleep Country’s website, the product description interchangeably refers to this mattress as both Medium and Medium-firm.

7.5 /10
Edge Support
The ProAdapt Teal mattress had an edge deflection of 4.5″ (pictured above), earning it an edge support score of 7.5/10. This is a very good score for a memory foam mattress, which aren’t always known for feeling supportive around the sides.
4.3 /10
Motion Isolation
Memory foam mattresses are known for their ability to stop motion transfer from across the bed. However, Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal received a below-average motion isolation score of 4.3/10. You may notice some of your partner’s movements from the other side of the mattress.
(Is sleeping undisturbed a priority for you? Try Octave Horizon with its much higher motion isolation score of 7.6/10.)
2.3 /10
Bounce
Bounce in mattresses is a preference, just like firmness. A lower level of bounce makes for a consistent sleep surface, while a higher level can make it easier for you to change positions throughout the night.
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal earned a below-average bounce score of 2.3/10. This is quite low, even for a foam mattress. While you would enjoy a consistent sleep surface, you may find it more difficult to change sleep positions.
(Thanks to its layer of aerated latex, Octave Horizon scored a slightly higher bounce score of 3.8/10, giving you a consistent sleep surface with a little extra responsiveness.)

3.7 /10
Cooling Features
Memory foam mattresses are often known for heat trapping due to the sinking feel of their layers. To address this issue, Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal has several cooling features. This mattress earns points for its:
- Cool-to-the-touch mattress cover
- Aerated TEMPUR-Material™ layer to maintain a cooler environment
- Open-cell TEMPUR-Material™ for heat dissipation
- Convoluted support layer that allows for airflow throughout the mattress
If you sleep warm, you may prefer a mattress like Octave Horizon with its outstanding cooling feature score of 8.7/10. Horizon has a cooling cover, phase-change material, copper-infused memory foam, open-cell Elastex® and aerated latex foam layers, and channelled support foam. All these features help ensure balanced temperatures for comfortable sleep, all for just $1,499 for a queen size.

Company Background
Founded in 1992, Tempur-Pedic was originally contracted to develop a material to cushion aircraft seats for NASA. Since then, Tempur-Pedic has emerged as one of North America’s most well-known mattress brands and is considered the gold standard in foam mattresses. In 2012, Tempur-Pedic merged with the Sealy Corporation to become the world’s largest bedding company.
Despite the company’s prestige, it holds a “Bad” rating on Trustpilot and is rated “B” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau. Tempur Sealy International only has a 1/5 customer review star rating on BBB customer reviews. A number of Trustpilot reviews expressed concerns about customer service, warranty claims, and product quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Tempur-Pedic mattresses good?
When tested by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal was shown to have very good edge support. However, this mattress scored below average for motion isolation and cooling features, and it’s priced much higher than average for a memory foam mattress.
We recommend Octave Horizon instead. Made in Canada, all Octave mattresses come with advanced cooling features for restorative sleep, a 365-night risk-free sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle. Octave mattresses start at just $599.
Are Tempur-Pedic mattresses worth it?
A mattress is worth your money if it fits within your budget and meets your sleep needs and preferences. Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal has a medium-firm feel, good body contouring, above-average edge support, and some cooling features. It retails at $5,399 for a queen size.
In comparison, competitor mattresses like Octave Horizon offer more cooling features and greater motion isolation for a much lower price of $1,499 for a queen size. Octave mattresses also come with a machine-washable cover and a free bedding bundle, along with a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.
Where can you buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Tempur-Pedic mattresses are sold at a variety of third-party retailers like Sleep Country, The Brick, and Costco. Many local mattress showrooms will also carry Tempur-Pedic mattresses. While Tempur-Pedic has a website, only Americans can purchase directly from it. We purchased our Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress from Sleep Country.

How long does a Tempur-Pedic mattress last?
The majority of Tempur-Pedic mattresses are backed by a 10-year warranty, and most mattresses last 7–10 years on average. You can expect your Tempur-Pedic to last about as long.
To get the most out of your mattress and to avoid voiding the warranty, Tempur-Pedic recommends using your mattress on an approved base, and pairing it with a mattress protector to avoid any stains.

Do you need to rotate a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
According to Tempur-Pedic, their mattresses are designed not to need rotating. This means you won’t need to flip or rotate this mattress throughout its lifespan. However, many modern mattresses recommend that sleepers rotate their mattress 180° every 4–6 months to promote even break-in and wear.
Can a Tempur-Pedic mattress be flipped?
No, the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is not designed to be flipped. The comfort and support layers are placed in a specific order, and designed to be used in only one direction. Most other Tempur-Pedic mattresses work in the same way, and are only meant to be used one-side up.
Do Tempur-Pedic mattresses have fiberglass?
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal doesn’t contain fiberglass. However, some Tempur-Pedic models we’ve tested previously, like Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud, contain “glass fiber” according to the law label.
Because of stricter fire regulations, mattresses made in the U.S. are more likely to contain fiberglass than their Canadian-made counterparts.
