Product Details
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal comes in three colour-coded firmness options: Blue (soft), Teal (medium), and Orange (firm). We purchased the Teal model for this review. Third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us) placed this mattress on the softer end of medium-firm, approaching the medium category. This is just slightly firmer than advertised.
This mattress earned a very good score for edge support. While memory foam is typically known for its ability to stop motion transfer, the ProAdapt Teal mattress received a lower-than-average motion isolation score. This mattress also received a lower-than-average bounce score.
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal has a cool-to-the-touch cover that’s manufactured separately in Mexico. While this cover is removable, a tag on the mattress suggests it shouldn’t be machine-washed. We recommend spot-cleaning it to be sure.
If you’re searching for a more affordable memory foam mattress brand with more cooling features, you may want to consider Octave Horizon. Octave has good edge support and motion isolation, numerous advanced cooling features, and an innovative five-zoned support system that promotes proper spinal alignment. This Canadian-made mattress also costs just $1,499 for a queen size—less than a third of the price of Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is available at Sleep Country Canada. Orders over $75 are free and your mattress should arrive at your doorstep within 3–10 business days. Remote or semi-remote areas may be charged additional shipping fees and have longer delivery times.
You can also upgrade to Green Glove delivery for an additional fee. With this option, the Sleep Country delivery team will set up your new mattress or sleep accessories, then remove and haul away your old mattress.
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal shipped to us fully expanded, wrapped in plastic, and packaged in a large cardboard box. This differs in comparison to most modern boxed mattresses, which are typically compressed and rolled to fit in a smaller package.
When buying a mattress from Sleep Country, you’ll receive a 100-night sleep trial. However, this trial is exchange-only. As a result, you’re not able to return your mattress for a full refund. You’ll only qualify for a one-time exchange for a different Sleep Country mattress, and have to pay the difference for a more expensive model.
Your Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress is backed by a limited 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. This covers any manufacturing defects, like indentations, cracks, or rips. In order to maintain your warranty, you must use a compatible mattress base, and protect your mattress from any spills and stains.

Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal Mattress Construction
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is constructed with 4 layers and stands about 12″ tall. According to a Sleep Country representative, all the foam used in this mattress is CertiPUR-US® Certified.
- Layer 1: The first layer of this mattress is about 1″ of aerated TEMPUR® Material. The company says this material is different from traditional memory foam due to its open-cell foam structure.
- Layer 2: This layer is approximately 2″ of a material the company calls Advanced Relief® material. It has the same slow responsiveness and contouring feel as the first layer.
- Layer 3: The third layer of this mattress is not described on the Sleep Country or Tempur-Pedic website, but appears to be 3″ of polyurethane foam.
- Layer 4: This mattress’s support layer is around 5″ of convoluted polyurethane foam, providing added pressure relief and airflow throughout the bed.
ProAdapt Teal has both an outer and inner cover. The removable outer cover is made of polyester, polyethylene, and spandex and has a cool-to-the-touch feel. A tag attached to the mattress cover says to spot-clean it only. To avoid voiding your warranty, we recommend not putting this cover in the washing machine.
The mattress’s inner cover is a thin piece of blue fabric described as a “High-Stretch Performance Panel.” This panel is meant to enhance the pressure-point relieving features of the foam layers, although the company doesn’t explain how it does this.

When tested for firmness by third-party engineers (commissioned by us), the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal mattress received a score of 5.7/10, indicated by its 3.0″ deflection as pictured above.
This score places the mattress in the medium-firm category. Tempur-Pedic advertises this mattress as Medium, so the mattress performed slightly firmer than advertised.

Edge Support
Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed—especially if you or your partner have mobility challenges.
The ProAdapt Teal mattress had an edge deflection of 4.5″ (pictured above), earning it an edge support score of 7.5/10. This is a very good score for a memory foam mattress, which aren’t always known for feeling supportive around the sides.

Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from feeling movements from other parts of the bed. Memory foam mattresses are known for their ability to stop motion transfer. However, Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal received a below-average motion isolation score of 4.3/10. You may notice some of your partner’s movements from the other side of the mattress.

Bounce in mattresses is a preference, just like firmness. Some sleepers enjoy a bouncy and responsive mattress, while others prefer a mattress with a slower response time.
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal earned a bounce score of 2.3/10. This is low for a foam mattress.

Founded in 1992, Tempur-Pedic was originally contracted to develop a material to cushion aircraft seats for NASA. Since then, Tempur-Pedic has emerged as one of North America’s most well-known mattress brands and is considered the gold standard in foam mattresses. In 2012, Tempur-Pedic merged with the Sealy Corporation to become the world’s largest bedding company, Tempur-Sealy International. As of February 2025, Tempur-Sealy has changed its name to Somnigroup International.
Despite Tempur-Pedic’s popularity, it holds a “Bad” rating on Trustpilot and is rated “B” (unaccredited) on Better Business Bureau with a 1/5 star customer review score. Tempur-Sealy, or Somnigroup, has a rating of “Poor” on Trustpilot and a customer review average of 1.1/5 stars on BBB despite their “A+” rating.

How long does a Tempur-Pedic mattress last?
According to experts, a good mattress should last 7–10 years. However, this can vary depending on the materials used in the mattress’s construction and how frequently it is used. There’s no strict rule, but if you notice visible sagging, lumps, or a decline in comfort and support, it may be time to replace it. Regular maintenance and proper care can help extend a mattress’s lifespan.

Do you need to rotate a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
According to Tempur-Pedic, their mattresses are designed not to need rotating. This means you won’t need to flip or rotate this mattress throughout its lifespan. However, many modern mattresses recommend that sleepers rotate their mattress 180° every 4–6 months to promote even break-in and wear.
Can a Tempur-Pedic mattress be flipped?
No, the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal is not designed to be flipped. The comfort and support layers are placed in a specific order, and designed to be used in only one direction. Most other Tempur-Pedic mattresses work in the same way, and are only meant to be used one-side up.
Do Tempur-Pedic mattresses have fiberglass?
Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Teal doesn’t contain fiberglass. However, some Tempur-Pedic models we’ve tested previously, like Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Cloud, contained “glass fiber” according to the law label.
Because of stricter fire regulations, mattresses made in the U.S. are more likely to contain fiberglass than their Canadian-made counterparts.
