Edge support and motion isolation are factored into our overall mattress ratings. These scores are shown in green (scores of 5.0+), yellow (3.0–4.9), or red (2.9 and below). Firmness, bounce, and cooling features are a matter of personal preference and aren’t part of our rating system, so these scores are shown in grey.

Product Details
Bloom Earth stands 8″ tall and features a 3-layer design. Bloom Earth is advertised as a “medium” mattress; however, according to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), this mattress actually has a medium-firm feel. It includes bamboo charcoal-infused aerated foam to help manage odours and provide air circulation. The mattress offers outstanding edge support and very good motion isolation.
Bloom mattresses are made in numerous countries like China, Spain, and Canada. The Bloom Earth mattress we received was made in Vietnam, according to its law label. Check the law label of your mattress to see where it was made.
From the Bloom mattress lineup, another Bloom mattress, namely the Bloom River, shares the same material composition as Bloom Earth. The key differences are that the Bloom Earth is one inch taller, costs $100 more, and has a slightly plusher feel. (Both mattresses still earned a firmness score consistent with a medium-firm feel.)
Bloom Earth is sold exclusively by Sleep Country, which means extra costs will be incurred if you need to return the mattress. Sleep Country doesn’t offer home pickups for returns, so you’ll need to arrange transportation to a store, even if you purchased the mattress online.
You also won’t get a refund, only in-store credit that you can put toward the purchase of a different mattress—and you’ll need to pay a $65 exchange fee. In comparison, competing mattress brands like Juno offer a 120-night sleep trial with free pickups and full refunds.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Sleep Country uses its in-house courier service to ship its products across most of Canada. However, the company may use a third-party courier to deliver Bloom mattresses to the northern territories, Newfoundland and Labrador, and some remote areas, for an additional fee. Your order should arrive on your doorstep within 3–10 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. Bloom Earth arrives in a cardboard box.

Every Bloom mattress Sleep Country sells is backed by a 10-year warranty and comes with a 100-night sleep trial. Both the warranty and trial length are industry standard. To return your Bloom mattress, you have to take the mattress back to the store yourself, even if you ordered it online. Sleep Country doesn’t pick up mattress returns. If you return the mattress, you must pay a $65 exchange fee and will only receive in-store credit—no refund.
In comparison, competing brands like Juno offer a 120-night trial. If you return your Juno within the trial period, you get a free mattress pickup and full refund. Juno also backs their product with a 15-year warranty.

Bloom Earth Mattress Construction
Bloom Earth measures 8″ tall and has 3 layers of CertiPUR-US certified foam.
- Layer 1: Bloom Earth’s comfort layer is 1″ of gel memory foam. This top layer is designed to help you stay cool while you sleep, as well as provide pressure point relief.
- Layer 2: The mattress’s transition layer is 2.5″ of convoluted foam. It looks very much like an egg carton, which allows hot air to move through the mattress more easily. Bloom also mentions that this layer provides support for joints and relieves pressure points.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 4.5″ of aerated support base foam. It supports the upper layers and keeps you from sinking too far into the mattress, as well as helps with air circulation. This layer is also infused with bamboo charcoal, which Bloom says will help manage odours.
The cover is made of double jacquard antimicrobial fabric, which is 100% polyester according to the law label on the mattress we ordered. It’s possible that the polyester fibres were treated with antimicrobial properties to provide this effect. The cover is removable and machine washable in cold or warm water. The mattress’s interior is protected with a rayon sock that Sleep Country says helps to reduce flame hazard.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

6.0 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Bloom Earth scored 6.0/10 for firmness. This places the mattress in the medium-firm category, meaning the mattress is slightly firmer than its advertised medium feel. A medium-firm feel is suitable for all sleep styles.

9.3 /10
Edge Support
Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed, especially if you or your partner has mobility challenges.
Bloom Earth scored 9.3/10 for edge support. This is an outstanding score and can likely be attributed to the mattress’s thick support foam base layer, as well as the extra support from the convoluted foam layer, which Bloom describes as providing “firm support.”
7.2 /10
Motion Isolation
Foam mattresses have a reputation for good motion isolation. Bloom Earth scored 7.2/10 for motion isolation. This is a very good score. You shouldn’t notice most of your partner’s movements when they change sleep positions.
4.0 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied. Foam mattresses tend to offer a slower response time. Bloom Earth scored 4.0/10 for bounce, which is below-average for a foam mattress.
(Need a mattress with less bounce? Consider Juno, which has a bounce score of 2.5/10.)

3.8 /10
Cooling Features
Bloom Earth is promoted as a budget mattress, not a cooling mattress. However, it does provide some cooling features to help with temperature regulation. Bloom Earth earns points for its:
- Top layer of gel-infused foam that allows for enhanced cooling
- Convoluted (egg carton-shaped) foam for improved airflow
- Aerated foam for improved air circulation
- Bamboo charcoal infusion for odour management, which also helps draw heat away from your body
If you’re looking for an affordable mattress with a similar cooling feature score at a lower price, take a look at Juno. Juno comes with a layer of cooling gel foam that reduces heat buildup and allows for enhanced airflow. The upgraded version also comes with an optional cooling cover crafted from special cooling yarn, which keeps surface temperatures low. Juno is available at just $499 for a queen size, compared to $599 for Bloom Earth.
