Product Details
Bloom Earth is among the lowest-priced options in the Bloom product line, but it’s still seen a 50% price increase since 2019. This medium-soft mattress features a 3-layer design that hugs you when you lie down. It also includes bamboo charcoal, which Bloom claims will help manage odours. The mattress offers above-average motion isolation, which helps manage motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other.
Made in countries like Spain and China, this mattress is popular among value shoppers who pay closer attention to price tags than features. However, you may not end up saving any money if you need to return the mattress. Sleep Country doesn’t offer home pickups for returns, so you’ll need to arrange transportation to a store.
You also won’t get a refund, only in-store credit that you can put toward the purchase of a different mattress—and you’ll need to pay an exchange fee. In comparison, other value mattress companies like Juno offer a 120-night sleep trial with free pickups and full refunds.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Sleep Country uses its own shipping across most of Canada. However, the company uses Sleep Country Canada to deliver Bloom mattresses to the northern territories, Newfoundland and Labrador, and some remote areas. You should receive your order within 3–10 business days.
Bloom Earth arrives in a cardboard box. After removing the two layers of plastic wrap, we found that Bloom Earth takes six hours to expand to its full 8″ height. You have a 100-night sleep trial to decide if you want to keep your Bloom Earth. This trial length is industry standard. However, if you return the mattress, you must pay a $65 exchange fee and will only receive in-store credit—no refund.
The mattress is backed by a 10-year warranty. However, Sleep Country has received a significant number of customer complaints on Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot. Many complaints report problems with product quality and completing warranty claims, which are issues that go hand in hand.
Competing brands like Juno offer a 120-night trial. If you return your Juno within the trial period, you get a free mattress pickup and full refund. Juno also backs their product with a 15-year warranty.

Bloom Earth Mattress Construction
Bloom Earth measures 8″ tall and has 3 layers of foam. The density of these layers isn’t publicly available.
- Layer 1: Bloom Earth’s comfort layer is 1″ of gel memory foam—half the height of competing value foam mattress Juno. This top layer is designed to help you stay cool while you sleep.
- Layer 2: The mattress’s transition layer is 2.75″ of convoluted foam. It looks very much like an egg carton, which allows hot air to move through the mattress more easily.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 4.25″ of support base foam. This is fairly thin for a base layer, which is meant to create structure and keep you from sinking too far into the mattress. The layer also includes bamboo charcoal in this layer, which Bloom claims will help manage odours. (In our experience, bottom layers aren’t known for trapping odour.)
Sleep Country states that the top cover is machine washable. However, when removing the mattress cover, we came across a protective layer that resembled a fire sock. And when we cut open the sock to reach the inner foam layers, particles from the sock landed on the floor and shattered.
The presence of shattered fragments from fabric may be indicative of fibreglass, which can be harmful to the eyes and skin. However, we couldn’t find a label within the mattress that describes what materials are used in the fire sock. To be on the safe side, we don’t recommend removing the mattress cover.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 30 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable. Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.
5.9 /10
Edge Support
Foam isn’t a strong material, so this type of mattress tends to have low edge support. Bloom Earth has average edge support with a score of 5.9/10. This means you should be able to sit comfortably on the edge of the mattress.
7.3 /10
Motion Isolation
Foam mattresses have a reputation for good motion isolation. Bloom Earth is no exception with a motion isolation score of 7.3/10. This means you can expect to feel very little movement from the other side of the bed.
4.1 /10
Bounce
Foam mattresses typically have a lower level of bounce because the foam absorbs movement. Bloom Earth scored 4.1/10 for bounce, which is average for a foam mattress.
Looking for a foam mattress with even less bounce? Juno scored 2.5/10 for bounce, which means a more restful night’s sleep.
2.2 /10
Cooling Features
Bloom Earth is promoted as a budget mattress, not a cooling mattress. However, it does provide some cooling features to help with temperature regulation. Bloom Earth earns points for its:
- Top layer of gel-infused foam that allows for enhanced cooling
- Convoluted (egg carton-shaped) foam for improved airflow
- Charcoal infusion for odour management, which also helps draw heat away from your body
If you’re looking for an affordable mattress with more advanced cooling features, take a look at Juno instead. Juno comes with a layer of cooling gel foam that reduces heat buildup and allows for enhanced airflow. It also comes with an optional cooling cover crafted from special cooling yarn, which keeps surface temperatures low. Juno is available at just $499 for a queen size, compared to $599 for Bloom Earth.
Shop Juno, and get a mattress with better edge support for a better price.

Company Background
Bloom was established in 2018 and is owned by publicly traded company Sleep Country. Founded in 1994 in Vancouver, BC, Sleep Country now has hundreds of brick-and-mortar stores across Canada. The company sells a variety of sleep products, including mattresses, pillows, bedding, and furniture.
Sleep Country claims a commitment to providing Canadians with a better night’s sleep that’s unparalleled in the industry. However, online reviews don’t seem to agree. The company has a substandard reputation among consumer trust agencies: an “A+” (unaccredited) rating on Better Business Bureau with a star rating of 1.22/5, and a “Poor” on Trustpilot with over 50% of reviews being one star. Common complaints from customers include product issues and difficulty with warranty claims.
