Product Details
The Bloom Sol mattress is 12″ tall and features a 5-layer design. On the website, Bloom Sol is described as a “plush” mattress; however, according to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), this mattress has a medium-firm feel. This mattress also earned above-average edge support and very good motion isolation scores.
Bloom Sol has some advanced cooling features, including a breathable cover, a layer of gel-infused foam, quartz infusion, perforated foam, and bamboo charcoal–infused aerated foam. However, it is one of the pricier Bloom mattress options, at $1,799 for a queen.
The Bloom Sol mattress we received is labelled as made in
Mexico. However, a representative from Sleep Country confirmed that Bloom mattresses are manufactured in several countries, including China, Vietnam, Spain, and Canada. For specific information on where your mattress was made, refer to the law label attached to it.
If you wish to return your mattress during Bloom’s 100-night sleep trial, you won’t receive a refund. You can only exchange the mattress for in-store credit, minus a $99 exchange fee. You’ll also have to pay the difference if you exchange Bloom Sol for a more expensive mattress. Sleep Country doesn’t offer home pickups for returns, so you’ll have to bring the mattress back to the store yourself, even if you bought it online.

Competing brands like Octave offer a longer 365-night trial. If you return your Octave within the trial period, you’ll get a free mattress pickup with a full refund. Bloom Mattress Construction
The Bloom Sol mattress measures 12″ tall and has 5 layers of foam. The mattress we received was made in Mexico, according to its law label. However, according to Bloom representatives, the mattresses can be made in a number of countries, like Vietnam, Canada, China, or Spain.
- Layer 1: Bloom Sol’s comfort layer is 1″ of gel-infused memory foam. This layer is designed to provide immediate comfort when you lie down and keep you cool throughout the night.
- Layer 2: The mattress’s transition layer is 2″ of “Quartz-infused” perforated memory foam, which creates air channels that allow warm air to escape.
- Layer 3: The third layer of Bloom Sol is 1″ of gel-infused memory foam for added comfort and cooling
- Layer 4: Bloom Sol has 1″ of responsive aerated latex foam, which incorporates lumbar support, which helps provide pressure relief and ventilation.
- Layer 5: The final layer of this mattress is a 7″ aerated support base foam, which provides stability, as well as helps with air circulation. This layer is also infused with bamboo charcoal, which Bloom says will help manage odours.
The top cover is made of 80% polyester, 15% FIR fibres, and 5% organic cotton. According to a Sleep Country agent, this cover is machine washable.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

6.2 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Bloom Sol scored 6.2/10 for firmness, indicated by a 2.5″ deflection when laid on. This places the mattress in the medium-firm category (despite the website describing this mattress as having a “plush” feel). Medium-firm mattresses are suitable for all sleep styles.

Edge Support
Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed, especially if you or your partner has mobility challenges.
Bloom Sol performed with an displacement of 5.3″ from a seated position, earning it an edge support score of 6.8/10. This is an above-average score, meaning that you should be able to sit comfortably on the edge of this mattress.
7.4 /10
Motion Isolation
Foam mattresses are known for their above-average motion isolation, which is important if you’re a light sleeper or a partner who tosses and turns in their sleep. Bloom Sol earned a motion isolation score of 7.4/10, which is a very good score. You shouldn’t notice too much movement from your partner.
(If you are looking for a more affordable and Canadian-made mattress with even better motion isolation, you should consider Octave Horizon, which has a score of 7.6/10.)
3.3 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied. Foam mattresses tend to offer slower response times, resulting in lower bounce scores. Low bounce creates a less responsive mattress, meaning that there is also less motion transfer and a less disruptive sleep, while higher bounce means that the mattress is more responsive, making it easier to change positions.
Bloom Sol scored 3.3/10 for bounce, which is slightly below average for a foam mattress. However, this mattress should still provide enough responsiveness to let you change positions throughout the night.
(If you are looking for a mattress with a little more spring, consider Octave Horizon, which has a layer of latex, and a higher bounce score of 3.8/10.)

If you’re looking for a mattress with more cooling features that’s also made in Canada, you should consider Octave Horizon. If you want a longer 365-night sleep trial, free return pickup with full refunds, and a 15-year warranty, you may want to consider a brand like Octave instead.
Are Bloom mattresses made in Canada?
Bloom mattresses are made in countries like China, Mexico, Vietnam, and Canada, according to a Sleep Country representative. These locations aren’t publicly disclosed—they’re only visible on the law label of each mattress. The Bloom Sol mattress we purchased was made in Mexico.
Do Bloom mattresses need a box spring?
Bloom mattresses don’t require a box spring. According to a Sleep Country representative, it’s important to pair your Bloom mattress with a sturdy frame that includes center support and at least 5-6 legs for larger sizes (queen and above) or at least 4 legs for smaller sizes (full and below). Using an improper frame may void your warranty, so be sure to select a Bloom warranty-approved frame.
Do Bloom mattresses have fiberglass?
None of the Bloom mattresses that we have tested has fibreglass, including Bloom Sol. Fiberglass is sometimes used as a fire-safety feature in certain mattresses, though some companies have begun using alternative fire-safety materials. Bloom says its interior rayon cover helps reduce flame hazard.

What is the Bloom mattress warranty?
The 10-year Bloom Sol mattress warranty, which is standard for the industry, covers any defects from the manufacturing process. It doesn’t cover incidental damage after delivery, like stains, cuts, or rips.
How do you return a Bloom mattress?
You can return your Bloom Sol mattress to Sleep Country during the 100-night sleep trial. However, Sleep Country only offers exchanges and does not provide refunds, charging a $99 exchange fee. If you choose a more expensive mattress, you will need to pay the price difference. Additionally, Sleep Country doesn’t pick up mattress returns, so you will need to take the mattress back to the store yourself, even if you ordered it online.
