Yes

Bloom Cloud is an all-foam mattress with 4 distinct layers. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.

  • Layer 1: The top layer is 1″ gel-infused memory foam, which disperses body heat and provides a cooler sleeping surface to help maintain an ideal body temperature while keeping its pressure-relieving properties.
  • Layer 2:This layer is 1″ of gel memory foam with aerated latex foam, split into three sections to provide zoned support. The softer memory foam is at the head and foot of the mattress to support lighter areas of the body. In the centre, the firmer latex foam adds extra support for your lower back and hips.
  • Layer 3: The transition layer is 1″ of memory foam. This provides extra contouring for your body and accounts for Bloom Cloud’s good motion isolation score.
  • Layer 4: The support layer is 7.5″ of support foam. This foundational layer prevents your body from sinking too deeply into the mattress. This layer is also infused with bamboo charcoal, which Bloom says helps keep your mattress fresh.

Bloom Cloud’s machine-washable mattress cover is made of organic cotton. It’s also infused with copper, which is a naturally antimicrobial metal. The mattress’s interior is protected with a rayon sock that Sleep Country says helps to reduce flame hazard.

Douglas comes with a cooling, machine-washable mattress cover for just $799 for a queen size.

Mattress Performance Results

6.2 /10

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Bloom Cloud scored 6.2/10 for firmness, placing the mattress in the medium-firm category. This slightly differs from Sleep Country’s description of this mattress having a “medium feel.” A medium-firm feel is suitable for all types of sleepers, whether you’re a side, back, or stomach sleeper.

(Want a slightly firmer mattress? Consider Douglas Original instead, which has a firmness score of 6.7/10 for firmness.)

Edge Support

Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge, or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed, especially if you or your partner have mobility challenges.

Bloom Cloud scored 9.0/10 for edge support, which is an outstanding score. You will be able to sit or lie comfortably near the edge of this mattress.

6.3 /10

Motion Isolation

Foam mattresses are known for minimal motion transfer, and Bloom Cloud holds up well in this category. It earned a 6.3/10 for motion isolation, which is above-average. Most people won’t feel too much movement when their partner shifts positions or gets out of bed.

(Need a mattress with even more motion isolation? Consider Douglas Original with its higher score of 8.3/10.)

3.3 /10

Bounce

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied. Foam mattresses tend to offer a slower response time.

Bloom Cloud scored 3.3/10 for bounce, which is considered below average. A score this low is common with mattresses containing memory foam, which are often designed more for pressure-point relief than responsiveness.

Cooling Features

Bloom Cloud is promoted as a memory foam mattress with cooling features. This mattress earned points for its:

  1. Copper-infused cotton cover, which is designed to resist odours and microbes while providing a cool-to-the-touch surface.
  2. Top layer of gel-infused memory foam, which promotes airflow and draws heat away from the body.
  3. Latex foam lumbar support in the top layer with an open-cell structure to promote breathability.
  4. Aerated foam layer for breathability
  5. Foam infused with bamboo charcoal, which helps draw heat away from the body.

While Bloom Cloud has useful cooling features, they come at a price tag of $1,199 for a queen size. In comparison, Douglas Original has similar features at a lower price of $799 for a queen size.
