It offers standard features like foam construction, free delivery, and a 100-night trial period, making it an average contender for an affordable foam mattress.

One notable downside of Casper Element Pro is its relatively high cost of $1,195 for a queen size. This price places it in the mid-range among foam mattresses from other bed-in-a-box brands.

For example, Juno is available at just $499 for a queen size and offers better overall value and benefits—including cooling features, good motion isolation, a 120-night sleep trial, 15-year warranty, and free bedding bundle with pillow(s) included with your purchase.

Casper Mattress Construction

The Casper Element Pro mattress contains 3 layers of foam. Casper doesn’t publicly share specifics about foam origin or density.

• Layer 1: The comfort layer features 2″ of perforated polyurethane foam that molds to your body, offering pressure-point relief when you lie down. Perforated foam is often used to keep you cool while you sleep.
• Layer 2: The transition layer includes 2″ of memory foam for added cushioning and support. While the top layer is designed to provide some airflow, memory foam is known for trapping body heat. So if you tend to sleep hot, this mattress may not be an ideal choice.
• Layer 3: The support layer is designed with a substantial 6″ of support foam. This ensures a sturdy base, which means the mattress may be less likely to sink over time.

Casper Element Pro has a mattress cover made of polyester, cotton, rayon, and spandex, with some recycled and “upcycled” materials. The cover isn’t removable or machine-washable. If easy cleaning is a priority, consider a mattress with a machine-washable cover, or purchase a waterproof mattress protector at an additional cost.

Casper first emerged in 2014 as an early North American bed-in-a-box brand. The company expanded its product lineup over the years with substantial funding from organizations like the Target Corporation and celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher. Today, the company offers mattresses, bedding accessories, and home decor.

Based in New York City, Casper went public in 2020 but was taken private again in 2022 after a stock collapse. Casper also shut down European operations in 2022 and now exclusively operates within the US and Canada. In 2023, Sleep Country acquired the rights to Casper’s Canadian operations.

While the company holds an “Average” rating on Trustpilot and an “A+” rating on Better Business Bureau, Casper only has 1.07/5 stars for customer reviews on BBB at the time this review was written. Several negative Casper mattress reviews mention warranty issues, poor customer service, delivery problems, and other concerns.
