Product Details
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero is a 10.5″ tall mattress with 4 layers of foam and individually pocketed coils. This mattress has a very firm feel. While the Sleep Country website describes Aero as an innerspring mattress, its foam layers measure more than 2″ in total, making it a hybrid mattress. Aero has outstanding edge support, above-average motion isolation, and very high bounce.
The mattress incorporates dense 3″ thick foam blocks along the sidewalls, which contribute to its high level of edge support. It also features zoned support in its coil layer. The ComfortCool cover contains Serta® SilverPur Fibre to give it anti-microbial properties. It’s also advertised as moisture wicking, but it’s not clear which materials provide that property. The cover is not removable or machine washable.
Competing mattress Logan & Cove Choice provides similar features at a lower price. At just $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove offers several advanced cooling features, including a cooling nanofibre cover and premium cooling foams. You’ll also get a longer 15-year warranty and 365-night sleep trial, as well as a free bedding bundle with your purchase.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Mattresses ordered from Sleep Country typically arrive at your door within 3–10 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. The exact date will depend on the company’s inventory and delivery schedule.
You have 100 nights to test your mattress at home using Sleep Country’s standard sleep trial. If you want to return the mattress, you need to bring the mattress back to the store yourself—even if you purchased it online and there’s no Sleep Country nearby. There are also no refunds. Sleep Country has an exchange-only policy for store credit, with a $65 exchange fee. If you exchange your mattress for a more expensive one, you will need to pay the difference.
The Serta mattress warranty varies according to the code on the law label. The warranty code on the mattress purchased for this review was “W9,” indicating an industry-standard 10-year manufacturer’s limited warranty. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship only. It doesn’t include incidental damage to the mattress, including damage during shipping.
In comparison, competing mattress Logan & Cove Choice offers bed-in-a-box delivery to protect your mattress and make it easy to move the mattress to your bedroom. If you return your mattress during the much longer 365-night sleep trial period, Logan & Cove will arrange for free return pickup. You’ll receive a full refund once your return is processed. The mattress also comes with a much longer 15-year warranty.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero Mattress Construction
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero is a hybrid mattress that stands 10.5″ high and has 4 distinct interior layers of foam and metal coils. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The top layer is 1″ of foam. It’s composed of two thinner 0.5″ layers that have been quilted together, forming breathable pockets. We consider this one layer because the foam sheets are physically attached and combined to form the top layer.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 1″ of unknown foam. This layer is denser than the layer above and stops you from feeling the coil layer beneath while you’re lying down.
- Layer 3: The support layer is 8″ of individually pocketed coils. These coils incorporate a five-zoned body support system to provide contouring while you’re lying down. They account for most of the mattress’s weight.
- Layer 4: The bottom layer is 0.5″ of unknown foam. This layer acts as a base for the pocketed coils above, and helps protect the mattress from any foundation you might use beneath.
According to Sleep Country’s product page, this mattress uses Serta® Support Gel Foam, which also provides some cooling to the mattress, although it’s not clear in which layer.
The mattress cover uses silver fibres to give it antimicrobial properties, which helps to keep the mattress fresh. However, the cover is not removable or machine washable. Any spills or stains should be spot-cleaned only.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

8.5 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero’s deflection while lying down was only 1″. This translates to a high firmness score of 8.5/10. You may find a very firm mattress comfortable if you’re a back or stomach sleeper, or if you have a heavier body type, but you could notice pressure on your hip and shoulder if you’re a side sleeper.
(Looking for a mattress that suits all sleep styles? Logan & Cove Choice scored a much lower 6.9/10 for firmness, placing it in the medium-firm category.)

9.0 /10
Edge Support
Good edge support is important if you like sitting up or lounging on the side of your bed, tend to sleep closer to the edge or need extra stability for getting in and out of bed—especially if you or your partner have mobility challenges.
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero’s deflection from a seated position was 3.1″, contributing to its outstanding edge support score of 9.0/10. This mattress will provide very good support, whether you’re sitting on the edge or sleeping farther away from the middle.
6.6 /10
Motion Isolation
Hybrid mattresses tend to have somewhat lower motion isolation due to their metal coils. Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero earned a motion isolation score of 6.6/10, which is above-average for a hybrid.
(Need even greater motion isolation for a good night’s sleep? Logan & Cove Choice has a higher motion isolation score of 7.5/10.)
8.5 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. It measures how quickly a mattress bounces back to its original shape after pressure is applied.
Hybrid mattresses tend to be bouncier than foam mattresses, but Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero earned an exceptionally high bounce score of 8.5/10. You won’t have trouble changing sleep positions or getting out of bed.
(Logan & Cove Choice has a much lower bounce score of 5.8/10, giving you a less responsive sleep surface with just enough spring to get you up in the morning.)

2.8 /10
Cooling Features
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero isn’t described as a cooling mattress on Sleep Country’s website, but it does have a few cooling features worth noting. This mattress earned points for its:
- Breathable, moisture-wicking cover, though the specific materials are not disclosed
- Layer of temperature-regulating cooling gel foam
- Layer of individually wrapped coils that promote air circulation
Looking for a hybrid with more cooling features? Logan & Cove Choice has a cooling feature score of 4.4/10. Choice offers a cooling nanofibre cover, ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, open-cell Elastex® foam, and breathable pocket coils. These features come at a lower price of $999 for a queen size, compared to $1,699 for Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero.

Company Background
Founded in 1931, Serta is an American company based in Illinois. Serta’s biggest licensee, the National Bedding Company, was acquired by two private equity firms in 2005. After the following restructuring, Serta International became a subsidiary of Serta Simmons Bedding, LLC. The company also acquired independent mattress brand Tuft & Needle in 2018. In early 2023, Serta filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and concluded financial restructuring later that year.
Serta sells through third-party retailers like Sleep Country Canada and The Brick, as well as individual suppliers and retailers. This means that you will be subject to the individual retailer’s policies such as return policies.
It’s also important to consider the company’s reputation on consumer protection websites such as Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau. On Trustpilot, the company is rated “Poor”, with a customer review score of 1.8/5 stars. Serta’s parent company, Serta Simmons Bedding, has a Better Business Bureau profile rated “F” (unaccredited) with a customer review rating of 1.75/5 stars.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Serta mattresses good?
Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero performed well in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), especially when it came to edge support. However, this mattress has only a few cooling features, and a very firm feel. Moreover, buying a Serta mattress in Canada also means buying from Sleep Country, which has an exchange-only return policy. There are no refunds for returned mattresses, and you have to bring it back to the store yourself.
We think you should consider Logan & Cove Choice instead. At $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove offers several advanced cooling features, including a cooling nanofibre cover, ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, and responsive Elastex® foam. It comes with a 15-year warranty, a generous 365-night sleep trial, the option of free return pickup with a full refund, and a free bedding bundle.
Are Sealy and Serta the same company?
No, the two companies are not the same. The Sealy brand is owned and marketed by Tempur Sealy International (now Somnigroup International), which was formed after the Sealy Corporation merged with Tempur-Pedic. The Serta brand is owned by Serta Simmons International, which was formed from a merger of Serta, the Simmons Bedding Company, and Serta’s biggest licensee, the National Bedding Company.
Are Serta and Beautyrest the same company?
The Beautyrest brand is owned by Simmons Bedding Company, which is a subsidiary of Serta Simmons International. Serta Simmons International was formed in 2010 following a merger of Serta, Simmons Bedding Company, and the National Bedding Company. Since then, the company has also acquired Tuft & Needle.
How much is a Serta mattress?
Prices for Serta mattresses vary depending on the model. Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero is available in sizes ranging from twin to king, with a price range of $1,449–$2,229. A queen-size Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero costs $1,699.
Do Serta mattresses have fiberglass?
No, Serta mattresses sold in Canada do not have fiberglass. Fiberglass is a common fire safety feature in mattresses made outside of Canada, especially less expensive ones.
READ MORE: Is fiberglass in a mattress dangerous?
How long do Serta mattresses last?
According to experts, a good mattress should last 7–10 years. However, this can vary depending on the materials used in the mattress’s construction and how frequently it is used. There’s no strict rule, but if you notice visible sagging, lumps, or a decline in comfort and support, it may be time to replace it. Regular maintenance and proper care can help extend a mattress’s lifespan.

What Serta mattress alternatives should I consider?
You should take a look at Logan & Cove Choice. Available at just $999 for a queen size, Logan & Cove offers similar features that Serta Perfect Sleeper Elite Aero does, including zoned support. That said, Logan & Cove sets itself apart with more cooling features, generous 15-year warranty, and 365-night sleep trial.
Unlike Serta mattresses purchased from Sleep Country, your Logan & Cove mattress also comes with the option of free returns with arranged pickup and a full refund. You also get a free bedding bundle that includes a free sheet set, pillow(s), mattress protector, and pillow protector(s).
