Product Details
Stearns & Foster Lakeridge is a 14.5″ mattress with a Euro-top construction. Though it’s described as an innerspring mattress on the Costco website, it contains more than 2″ of foam, which qualifies it as a hybrid mattress.
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Stearns & Foster Lakeridge earned a firmness score that’s consistent with a medium-firm feel. This level of firmness is suitable for all sleep styles. According to this same testing, the mattress has above-average motion isolation, below-average edge support, and below-average bounce. It also has some cooling features to provide temperature control.
Lakeridge’s cover is made of rayon, polyester, and Tencel™ (brand-name lyocell). The lyocell isn’t listed on the law label of the mattress we purchased. The cover is not removable or machine washable; any stains need to be spot-cleaned.
In comparison, competitor mattress Logan & Cove Choice is priced lower at just $999 for a queen size. Choice has very good edge support and motion isolation, and it has a cooling nanofibre cover, cooling gel-infused foam, and breathable open-cell Elastex® foam. It also comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Costco offers free shipping and “white-glove” delivery service, which includes mattress placement, setup, and removal of all packaging materials. Free shipping is ideal if you can’t bring a mattress home in your vehicle. Delivery will take 10–15 business days, including time taken to dispatch your order. The mattress arrives fully expanded and wrapped in plastic.
While Stearns & Foster offers a sleep trial, Costco doesn’t. You can only use Costco’s standard return policy instead of a sleep trial. If you want to return your mattress after purchase, you may need to bring it to the store yourself—Costco only provides return pickup for mattresses purchased online. This pickup takes 3–4 weeks to arrange.
Finally, Stearns & Foster Lakeridge is covered by the manufacturer’s 10-year warranty. In comparison, similar brands like Logan & Cove offer a 15-year warranty, as well as free delivery, a 365-night sleep trial, and the option of free return pickup with a full refund.
Choose Logan & Cove, the mattress with the 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.

Stearns & Foster Mattress Construction
Stearns & Foster Lakeridge is designed with a foam comfort system layered over an innerspring support core. This gives it a total of 5 layers, which have unknown thicknesses and densities. The layers aren’t CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The gel foam comfort layer contours to your body’s shape, relieves pressure, and helps keep you cool during the night.
- Layer 2: The memory foam layer adds extra comfort and contouring to relieve pressure points.
- Layer 3: This is the thickest foam layer, but it’s not clear what type of foam it’s made of. This layer doesn’t appear in the construction diagram shown on the Costco website.
- Layer 4: This layer is made up of packed coils that support your body while you sleep. It’s not clear how many coils there are or what type of metal they’re composed of.
- Layer 5: The foam support layer helps provide structure for all the layers above. The bottom of the mattress also has a unique ventilation system for breathability.
The button-tufted pillow top is made from materials normally found in athletic wear, like rayon and polyester, and is meant to resist moisture. The cover also contains Tencel™ fibres, but this material wasn’t listed in the law label on the mattress purchased for this review. The cover is not removable or machine washable, so any spills and stains have to be spot-cleaned only.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

Edge Support
A mattress with good edge support lets you sit on the edge of the bed or lie farther away from the middle without sliding off. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Stearns & Foster Lakeridge scored 4.3/10 for edge support. This is below average for a hybrid mattress.
(Need a mattress with greater edge support? You might prefer Logan & Cove Choice with its higher score of 7.5/10.)
6.3 /10
Motion Isolation
Mattresses with high motion isolation help soften your partner’s nighttime movements, which can help you enjoy a more restful night’s sleep. Hybrid mattresses often provide less motion isolation than hybrid mattresses. However, Stearns & Foster Lakeridge earned a motion isolation score of 6.3/10. This is an above-average score for a hybrid mattress.
(Looking for a mattress with a higher motion isolation score? Consider Logan & Cove Choice with its higher score of 7.5/10.)
3.7 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. Higher bounce allows you to easily change sleep positions, while lower bounce gives you a more consistent surface. Hybrid mattresses tend to be bouncier than foam mattresses. That said, Stearns & Foster Lakeridge earned a bounce score of 3.7/10. This is a below-average score for a hybrid mattress.
(Want a little extra bounce in your mattress? Try Logan & Cove Choice with its higher bounce score of 5.8/10.)
