The Emma Original mattress measures 10″ tall and has 3 layers of foam. These layers are CertiPUR-US® certified.

  • Layer 1: Emma Original’s comfort layer is 2″ of Airgocell® foam, which provides some temperature control.
  • Layer 2: The mattress’s transition layer is 2″ of Halo Memory Foam™. It has three zones that offer full-body support. This layer is designed to respond slowly to movement, which provides extra motion isolation, and it contours to your body’s shape.
  • Layer 3: Emma Original’s base layer is 6″ of high-resiliency extra base foam (HRX). This bottom layer is the base of the mattress and gives the Emma Original its structure. It also prevents you from sinking too deep into the mattress.

Emma Original has a machine-washable top cover made from a polyester and elastane fabric blend. The cover is soft to the touch but it doesn’t have any added cooling features for temperature regulation.

Mattress Performance Results

6.4 /10

Edge Support

Edge support is how well a mattress supports your weight while you’re sitting on or lying near the edge of the bed. Foam mattresses typically provide less edge support than hybrid mattresses. Emma Original earned an edge support score of 6.4/10, which is above average for a foam mattress.

(Need a mattress with more edge support? Consider Douglas Original with its higher edge support score of 7.8/10.)

8.4 /10

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from noticing movement from the other side of the bed. Foam mattresses tend to have higher motion isolation than hybrid mattresses because the foam layers absorb movement. Emma Original earned a motion isolation score of 8.4/10. This is an excellent score for a foam mattress.

3.9 /10

Bounce

Bounce is a matter of personal preference. A lower bounce score means a mattress provides a more consistent sleep surface, while a higher score indicates a more responsive mattress. Foam mattresses are often less bouncy than hybrid mattresses. Emma Original received a bounce score of 3.9/10, which is below average for a foam mattress.
