Product Details
Casper Atlas is a 10″ hybrid mattress with 4 layers and a medium-firm feel. The model we received was made in Canada, but a Casper Canada agent informed us that their mattresses are produced in both Canada and Vietnam.
Atlas’s cover is 99% polyester and 1% spandex. The top portion of the mattress cover is removable and machine washable. In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), this Casper hybrid mattress earned very good edge support and excellent motion isolation scores.
That said, Casper Atlas didn’t test as well as its Canadian competitor, Douglas. The Douglas Original Hybrid mattress earned higher scores for motion isolation, edge support, and cooling than the Casper Atlas, all for a lower queen price of $949.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns
Your Casper hybrid mattress arrives at your home in 5–15 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. Delivery is handled through UPS and is free for most locations across Canada, with delivery fees applying to some remote addresses. However, the company can’t currently ship mattresses to certain cities in the Yukon, Nunavut, or the Northwest Territories. If you’re in a serviceable area, your mattress will arrive at your doorstep rolled up in plastic inside a cardboard box.

Casper offers a 100-night sleep trial to try out the mattress at home. If you decide you don’t want to keep it, you’ll need to wait 30 days before you can start a return. Returns include a full refund and free pickup service.
The mattress comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s limited warranty. This is standard for the mattress industry. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, but not damage incurred during shipping or any incidental damage.
In comparison, some competing Canadian mattresses, like the Douglas Hybrid, offer a 365-night sleep trial (with full refunds and free return pickups) and a 15-year warranty. This gives you much more time to get to know your mattress.

Casper Atlas Mattress Construction
Casper Atlas hybrid stands 10″ tall and has 4 interior layers. Three of these are foam layers, and one is a layer of pocketed coils. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The top layer is 1.5″ of memory foam. This layer is designed to add plushness as you lie down on the mattress, but it doesn’t include any cooling features to help regulate body temperature.
- Layer 2: The second layer is 1.5″ of polyurethane foam, which stops you from feeling the denser support layer beneath.
- Layer 3: The third layer is 6″ of individually pocketed steel coils, reinforced with edge support foam along the sidewalls. These coils don’t appear to be zoned, which is a common feature in other Canadian hybrid mattresses that helps promote proper spinal alignment and pressure relief.
- Layer 4: The bottom layer is 1″ of polyurethane foam. This acts as a foundation for the coil layer, and protects the mattress and bed frame from damaging each other.
Casper Atlas’s Cozy Knit cover is made from 99% polyester and 1% spandex. It can be removed and machine-washed. You can wash the cover in cold water and line-dry only, since high heat can cause polyester to shrink. Be sure to follow the instructions on your mattress’s care label when you clean it.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

6.5 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Casper Atlas hybrid had a deflection of 3″ when laid on, contributing to its 6.5/10 firmness score. This places Atlas in the medium-firm category for mattress firmness, which is considered a good fit for most sleep styles. That said, this Casper hybrid mattress doesn’t come with zoned support, which is something to consider if you prioritize pressure relief and lumbar support.
(For a Canadian hybrid mattress with zoned support, check out Douglas Original Hybrid. It balances cushioning and support with a 6.0/10 firmness score.)

7.8 /10
Edge Support
Casper Atlas had a deflection of 4.5″ from a seated position, earning it a 7.8/10 score for edge support—a very good score for a hybrid. You won’t sink much into the sidewalls when sitting on this mattress, and you won’t notice too much sinkage if you sleep farther away from the middle of the bed.
(If you share a mattress or want even more usable space on the edges, you might like Douglas Original Hybrid’s higher 8.3/10 edge support score.)
8.0 /10
Motion Isolation
Casper Atlas scored 8.0/10 for motion isolation, which is excellent for a hybrid mattress. While you may notice some of your partner’s larger motions, you shouldn’t be woken by smaller movements.
(Get better motion isolation for a lower price with Douglas Original Hybrid. It scored 9.0/10 for motion isolation and costs just $949 for a queen size, compared to $1,199 for the Casper Atlas hybrid.)
6.8 /10
Bounce
Casper Atlas scored 6.8/10 for bounce, which is above average for a hybrid mattress. Bounce in mattresses is a preference, with higher bounce scores helping sleepers change sleep positions more easily.
(Looking for even more bounce? Check out Douglas Original Hybrid with its bounce score of 8.0/10.)

1.8 /10
Cooling
Hybrid mattresses tend to have better cooling than foam mattresses due to their coils, which promote air circulation and breathability. Although Casper Atlas isn’t marketed as a cooling mattress, it still provides some cooling thanks to its hybrid design. Casper Atlas gets points for its:
- Cozy Knit cover, which is designed for breathability.
- Layer of pocketed coils, which contributes to air circulation and heat dissipation.
If you’d prefer a mattress that does more to regulate temperatures, you might prefer Douglas Original Hybrid. The Douglas mattress incorporates plant-based fibres in its top cover to help wick away moisture. It also features ecoLift® gel-infused cooling foam to dissipate heat, open-cell Elastex® foam for breathability, and pocketed coils that help air flow through the mattress. All of these features come at a lower price of $949 for a queen size, compared to $1,199 for Casper Atlas.

Company Background
Founded in New York City, Casper first emerged in 2014 as an early North American bed-in-a-box brand. The company expanded its product lineup over the years with substantial funding from organizations like the Target Corporation and celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher.
Casper went public in 2020 but was taken private again in 2022 after a stock collapse. Also in 2022, Casper shut down its European operations, focusing exclusively on the North American market. In 2023, Casper sold its Canadian operations to Sleep Country Canada, and in 2024, after attempts to stop losing money, its US operations were acquired by one of its suppliers, Carpenter Corporation.
Today, the company offers mattresses, bedding accessories, and home decor. Products are sold online, through branded retail stores, and through Sleep Country locations in Canada. Their mattresses are sometimes accompanied by rotating sales or deals that may include free sleep accessories.
Although Casper has separate American and Canadian operations, the brand has one combined Trustpilot page, which rates it as “Poor” (based on over 6,000 customer reviews). On the Better Business Bureau, Casper’s American profile is rated “A-” (unaccredited), but has a customer review rating of just 1.16 out of 5 stars. Casper does not have a Canadian BBB profile, but its parent company, Sleep Country Canada, has a customer review score of just 1.34/5 on BBB, and is rated “Poor” on Trustpilot.
Where Casper makes its mattresses depends on whether you buy in Canada or the USA. Casper Canada makes most of its mattresses in Canada and Vietnam, with select models manufactured in the US. We have received Casper mattresses made in Canada, the United States, Vietnam, and Mexico. The label of each mattress has information about where it was manufactured.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Casper mattresses good?
The Casper Atlas mattress earned an overall rating of 5.7/10 based on its performance in third-party engineering testing, construction, cooling features, price, purchasing policies, and more. While this isn’t a bad score, it’s not as high as options like Douglas Original Hybrid, which scored 9.7/10 overall.
If you want a sleep trial or a warranty longer than 100 nights and 10 years, respectively, you might prefer a Douglas mattress instead. Douglas comes with a 365-night sleep trial, a 15-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle with your purchase.
Where are Casper mattresses made?
Casper Canada makes most of its mattresses in Canada and Vietnam. Select models may be manufactured in the US.
Are Casper mattresses made in Canada?
According to a Casper Canada representative we spoke with, the majority of Casper mattresses are now made in Canada and Vietnam. Select models may still be made in the United States. Casper mattresses that we have ordered in the past have been made across North America.
Are Casper mattresses worth it?
While Casper is a popular brand, its mattresses tend to be priced higher than certain Canadian competitors while having fewer comfort and cooling technologies. For example, the Casper Atlas mattress performed well in areas like edge support and motion isolation, but doesn’t offer zoned support or advanced cooling features. At $1,199 for a queen size, you also only get an industry-average 100-night sleep trial and 10-year warranty with this Casper hybrid mattress.
Competing Canadian brand Douglas, on the other hand, offers their Original Hybrid mattress for just $949 for a queen size. Douglas Original Hybrid earned better performance scores than Casper Atlas, has more cooling features, includes zoned support coils, and comes with a longer 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. Additionally, you get a free bedding bundle with your Douglas mattress purchase. The mattress that’s worth it for you will depend on your budget and which features you prioritize in a mattress.
Can a Casper mattress be used on an adjustable bed?
Yes, Casper Atlas can be used with an adjustable bed, whether it’s from Casper or a different brand.

Can I put my Casper mattress on a box spring?
Yes, you can use your Casper mattress on a box spring or other supportive foundation. However, Casper recommends using a foundation with wooden slats that are at least 2.5″ wide and no more than 3″ apart.
Can a Casper mattress be flipped?
No, Casper mattresses can’t be flipped. Like most modern mattresses, Casper mattresses are designed to be oriented in one direction only.
Can I wash the Casper mattress cover?
Yes, the top portion of the Casper Atlas mattress cover is removable and machine washable. Other sections of the cover should be spot-cleaned. Be sure to wash according to care label instructions—such as washing in cold water and line-drying only—as its 99% polyester composition may risk shrinking in higher temperatures.
How long do Casper mattresses last?
According to experts, a good mattress should last 7–10 years. However, this can vary depending on the materials used in the mattress’s construction and how frequently it is used. There’s no strict rule, but if you notice visible sagging, lumps, or a decline in comfort and support, it may be time to replace it. Regular maintenance and proper care can help extend a mattress’s lifespan.

How long do Casper mattresses take to expand?
According to the company, a Casper mattress may need 24–48 hours to finish expanding after it’s been unboxed and unwrapped.
Does the Casper mattress contain fiberglass?
According to a Casper Canada agent, newly produced Casper mattresses do not contain fiberglass.
According to the blog FAQ page on Casper.com (Casper’s American website), certain Casper models did contain fiberglass to meet fire safety regulations in the United States. However, Casper has since moved away from fiberglass to alternatives like rayon or silica blends.
The Casper Atlas mattress that we received did not contain fiberglass. We recommend reaching out to Casper’s support team if you need more information on whether or not your mattress contains fiberglass.
Who owns Casper?
Casper Canada is owned by Sleep Country Canada as of 2023. While Casper is originally an American brand, its Canadian operations were sold off in 2023, 9 years after pursuing international expansion. Sleep Country also owns the Endy, Hush, Bloom, and Silk & Snow brands.

What Casper mattress alternatives should I consider?
We recommend Douglas Original Hybrid as a good Casper hybrid mattress alternative. Douglas has a similar medium-firm feel to Casper Atlas and offers the same machine-washable cover functionality. However, Douglas is priced lower, earned better edge support and motion isolation scores, includes more cooling features, and comes with a longer sleep trial and warranty than Casper Atlas, making it our recommended pick.
