Product Details
Emma Hybrid Comfort is 13″ tall. It’s available in one medium-firm option. However, in third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), the mattress earned a score that’s consistent with a firm feel. Emma Hybrid Comfort also received a very good edge support score, an above-average motion isolation score, and an average score for bounce.
This mattress has 5 layers, four with foam and one with individually pocketed coils. These coils are divided into 7 zones of ergonomic support. The polyester-elastane mattress cover is removable and machine-washable. While Emma calls this a “Pillowtop Cover,” it’s important to know that this is just a name—Hybrid Comfort is a tight-top mattress, not a true pillow-top.

Emma Hybrid Mattress Construction
Emma Hybrid Comfort measures 13″ tall and has 5 layers with a combination of foam and coils. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified. Emma does not publicly disclose the densities of the foams used in assembly.
- Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer is made of open-cell foam, which is designed to absorb and dissipate your body heat while you’re asleep.
- Layer 2: The second layer is made of polyurethane memory foam, which molds to your body’s shape and helps relieve pressure. It also keeps you from feeling the layers beneath while you’re lying on the mattress.
- Layer 3: This layer of foam gives additional support and provides pressure relief for your joints. This layer is made with high-resiliency extra base foam (HRX).
- Layer 4: The fourth layer—one of two support layers–is composed of individually pocketed metal coils, divided into 7 zones of ergonomic support.
- Layer 5: This second support layer is made of thick, higher-density foam that provides a solid foundation for the upper layers of the mattress.
Emma Hybrid Comfort has a machine-washable top cover made from a polyester/elastane fabric blend. It’s designed to be moisture-wicking and breathable.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

7.8 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Emma Hybrid Comfort’s deflection when laid on was 1.8″, giving it a 7.8/10 firmness score. This is consistent with a firm feel, which is best suited for back and stomach sleepers. Firm mattresses generally aren’t recommended for side sleepers.
(Looking for a mattress with a medium-firm feel that’s ideal for all sleep styles? Consider Logan & Cove Choice with its lower firmness score of 6.9/10.)

7.3 /10
Edge Support
Edge support is how well a mattress supports your weight while you’re sitting on or lying near the edge of the bed. Hybrid mattresses typically provide greater edge support than foam models. Emma Hybrid Comfort had a 4.8″ deflection from a seated position, resulting in a 7.3/10 score for edge support. This is a very good score for a hybrid mattress.
6.7 /10
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is how well a mattress keeps you from noticing movement from the other side of the bed. Hybrid mattresses tend to have lower motion isolation than foam mattresses because of their responsive coils. Emma Hybrid Comfort scored 6.7/10 for motion isolation. This is above average for a hybrid mattress.
(Looking for a hybrid mattress with greater motion isolation? You might prefer Logan & Cove Choice with its higher score of 7.5/10.)
5.2 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference. A lower bounce score means a mattress provides a more consistent sleep surface, while a higher score indicates a more responsive mattress. Foam mattresses are often less bouncy than hybrid mattresses. Emma Hybrid Comfort scored 5.2/10 for bounce, which is average for a hybrid mattress.

3.0 /10
Cooling Features
Emma Hybrid Comfort isn’t promoted as a cooling mattress but the mattress earns a few points for its:
- Moisture-wicking top cover made from polyester and elastane to help sleepers stay dry at night
- Open-cell foam to provide breathability
- Layer of pocket coils to provide support and air circulation
Looking for a hybrid mattress with more cooling features? Logan & Cove Choice comes with a cover woven with cooling nanofibres, gel-infused foam, and zoned pocket coils to keep you cool at night. Best of all, it comes at a more accessible price of just $999 for a queen size.
