Product Details
Douglas Summit Hybrid is a 14″ hybrid mattress. It has a medium-firm feel, according to third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us). This same testing showed that the mattress has very good edge support and motion isolation, along with high bounce.
The mattress has more advanced cooling features than any other mattress in the Douglas lineup. These features include cooling gel and open-cell foams, phase-change material, and breathable pocket coils. These coils are zoned to provide extra support under your back and hips.
Douglas Summit Hybrid has the same signature CoolSense® cover as other Douglas models. It’s made with moisture-wicking Infinitex™ fibres that draw away sweat and resist odors. Douglas Summit Hybrid’s cover is also woven with CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, which aren’t found in the lower-tier models. The cover is removable and machine washable for easy maintenance.
Like the rest of the Douglas lineup, Douglas Summit Hybrid is available in several RV sizes. If you prefer a mattress without coils, you can also choose the all-foam Douglas Summit. All Douglas mattresses also come with a 365-night sleep trial, the option of free return pickup with a full refund, a 20-year warranty, and a free bedding bundle.
Ideal For: Side Sleepers, Back Sleepers, Stomach Sleepers

Douglas Summit Hybrid Mattress Construction
The Douglas Summit Hybrid mattress is 14″ tall and has 4 inner layers of foam and pocket coils. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.
- Layer 1: The top layer is 2.5″ of ecoLift™ cooling gel foam with Polar® phase-change material, designed to ease pressure points and manage temperatures by absorbing and redistributing your body heat.
- Layer 2: This 2.5″ layer of Elastex® transition foam provides body-contouring support while adding extra cushioning and responsiveness.
- Layer 3: An 8″ layer of Exoforge™ pocket coils is designed to provide zoned support for your lower back and hips. Encasement foam surrounds the coils to reinforce the mattress edges.
- Layer 4: At the base of the mattress, a 1″ layer of motion-isolation support foam adds structure and reduces motion transfer from one side of the bed to the other.
Douglas Summit Hybrid uses the brand’s CoolSense® cover made with plant-based Infinitex™ fibres, which help wick moisture away from the sleep surface. The fabric allows air to flow through the mattress and helps reduce odour buildup over time.
As the most advanced mattress in the Douglas hybrid lineup, Douglas Summit Hybrid also has cooling nanofibres woven into the cover material. Combined with the mattress’s other cooling features, like gel-infused foam and phase-change material, the cover helps keep temperatures comfortable while you sleep.

MattressReviews.ca commissions licensed third-party engineers and uses public data to rate mattresses on over 40 criteria.
This allows us to accurately rate and compare the performance of the mattresses reviewed on this website. Engineer independence and operating standards help ensure their results remain unbiased, valid, and reliable.
Each mattress was evaluated using the same strict mattress testing methodology to protect the overall integrity of the results. Foam and hybrid mattress test results are scored on separate scales to ensure fair contextual performance representation as much as possible. The full report has been given the official stamp of approval from an APEGA-certified engineer operating under a strict ethical code of conduct.
Mattress testing conducted outside of this professional standard poses a greater risk of validity errors or reviewer bias.

6.7 /10
Firmness
In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Douglas Summit Hybrid earned a firmness score of 6.7/10. This places the mattress in the medium-firm category. Medium-firm mattresses provide a good blend of comfort and support. This level of firmness is recommended for all sleep styles, whether you sleep on your side, back, or stomach.

7.5 /10
Edge Support
Edge support is how secure the mattress feels when you’re sitting on or lying near the edge. It can also make getting in and out of bed easier, especially if you need extra stability due to mobility issues. Douglas Summit Hybrid received an edge support score of 7.5/10, which is very good for a hybrid mattress.
7.1 /10
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation is how much movement you feel from the other side of the bed. Douglas Summit Hybrid scored 7.1/10 for motion isolation. This is a very good score for a hybrid mattress. The foam layers absorb movement, so changing positions is less likely to disturb your partner.
(Need a mattress with more motion isolation? Consider the all-foam Douglas Summit with its higher score of 8.8/10.)
7.0 /10
Bounce
Bounce is a matter of personal preference when you’re mattress shopping. A mattress with more bounce can make it easier to move or change positions, while less bounce creates a steadier surface. Douglas Summit Hybrid earned a bounce score of 7.0/10, which is high for a hybrid mattress.
(If you’re looking for less responsiveness, the all-foam Douglas Summit may be a better fit with its score of 3.0/10.)

7.9 /10
Cooling Features
Douglas Summit Hybrid has all the same advanced cooling features as Douglas Alpine Hybrid, but with thicker cooling layers and added nanofibres in the top cover. Douglas Summit Hybrid earns points for its:
- CoolSense® cover with moisture-wicking fibres that minimize sweat
- CryoFusion™ nanofibres woven into the cover for a cool-to-the-touch feel
- ecoLift® cooling gel foam that’s designed to dissipate heat while you sleep
- Polar® phase-change material that gathers and redistributes body heat
- Open-cell foam design that’s more breathable than closed-cell foam
- Elastex® transition foam that helps support airflow
- Individually wrapped coils, which are naturally breathable for better air circulation
Douglas Summit Hybrid has the highest cooling features score of any Douglas mattress. These features come with an accessible price tag of $1,379 for a queen size. (Need even more cooling comfort? Consider Octave Horizon instead.)
