Budget Costco Mattress with No Sleep Trial

Simmons Gel Memory Foam is an all-foam mattress made by Simmons, a subsidiary of Serta Simmons Bedding. It’s available in Canada through Costco, Amazon, and a few other third-party retailers. For this review, we purchased the queen-size mattress for $349 from Costco.

Although it's affordably priced, Simmons Gel Memory Foam doesn't come with an at-home sleep trial and only has an industry-standard 10-year warranty. Purchasing the mattress through Costco requires a paid membership, and there are several restrictions around shipping and returns.

Competitor mattress Juno, on the other hand, gives you more value with your purchase. Juno comes with a 120-night sleep trial, 15-year warranty, free shipping and returns, and a free build-your-own bedding bundle—all for just $499 for a queen size.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Shipping and delivery service will vary according to the retailer you purchase this mattress from. If you purchase it through Costco, you’ll need a valid membership to purchase. You’ll get free shipping and delivery if you order online, but this option isn’t available if you purchase in-store.

Costco ships via UPS or FedEx. The mattress should arrive in 2–10 business days with Costco’s “quick ship” promotion. However, this offer may not be available for all customers, depending on your location and the time you purchase this mattress. If you live in a remote area, the package may be held at a local store for pickup, which you’ll have to arrange yourself.

The sleep trial for this mattress varies depending on where you purchase it. Costco doesn’t offer a sleep trial for Simmons Gel Memory Foam. You can instead expect Costco’s return policy, which will provide free return shipping if you buy it online. The return process will take 3–4 weeks. If you purchased it in-store, you will need to bring the mattress back to the store yourself and return it to customer service.

If you purchase your Simmons mattress from a different retailer such as Amazon or National Mattress Outlet, you will be subject to their return/exchange policies, which can be more restrictive.

The Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress comes with an industry-standard 10-year warranty, which covers manufacturing defects only. Further details about Simmons’ warranty policy are unclear as they are not readily available on Costco’s site, and Simmons’ Canadian website was still under construction at the time this review was written.

In comparison, competing mattress Juno comes with a 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. Juno also offers free return pickup with a full refund if you aren’t completely satisfied.

No

The Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress stands 8" tall and has 3 layers. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified.

  • Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer of the Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress is 2” of cooling gel-infused foam. This layer conforms to your body’s shape while you’re lying down, and actively dissipates heat from your body.
  • Layer 2: The second (transition) layer is 2” of polyurethane foam. This layer stops you from feeling the denser support layer beneath. Costco’s product page describes this as a “motion separation” layer, but it’s not clear what this means.
  • Layer 3: The bottom (support) layer is 4” of polyurethane foam. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and prevents you from sinking too deeply into it when lying down.

The mattress cover is 72% polyester and 28% micro-polyamide, which is a blend of elastane and microfibers similar to polyester. Although this cover has a zipper, the law label doesn’t indicate whether or not the cover is machine washable. To be safe, we recommend only spot-cleaning any spills or stains.

Need a little help sleeping cooler at night? Consider Juno with its optional Cool+ upgrade.

7.0 /10

Firmness

In third-party engineer testing (commissioned by us), Simmons had a deflection of only 1.8" when laid on, contributing to its 7.0/10 firmness score.

This is much firmer than the “Medium” description on Costco Canada’s product page. You might find a firm feel comfortable if you’re a back or stomach sleeper. However, if you sleep on your side, you might notice added pressure on your shoulder and hip.

(If you sleep on your side or with a partner, you might prefer a mattress with a medium-firm feel. Juno has a firmness score of 6.0/10, making it ideal for all sleep styles.)

8.3 /10

Edge Support

Foam mattresses often don't have good edge support. However, Simmons had a deflection of just 4" from a sitting position, resulting in an excellent edge support score of 8.3/10. Simmons will give you very good support when you sit on the edge of the bed, or when you sleep farther away from the middle of the mattress.

7.7 /10

Motion Isolation

Foam mattresses tend to have better motion isolation than other mattress types. Simmons tested 7.7/10 for motion isolation, a very good score for an all-foam mattress. You’ll notice very little movement when your partner changes sleep positions.

3.1 /10

Bounce

Simmons tested 3.1/10 for bounce. A score this low is common for a foam mattress. This is good news if you're a light sleeper who wakes up easily and needs a more consistent sleep surface.

(Looking for a mattress with even less bounce? Juno earned a bounce score of 2.5/10, giving you the undisturbed rest you deserve.)

1.2 /10

Cooling Features

Simmons Gel Memory Foam isn’t advertised as a cooling mattress, and only has a single cooling feature. This mattress earns points for its:

  1. Layer of gel-infused foam in the comfort layer, which actively dissipates heat

If you want a budget mattress that does more to help you sleep cool, consider Juno. It comes with a layer of cooling gel foam and an optional Cool+ cover upgrade for a cooler, more comfortable night's sleep—all for just $499 for a queen size.

Founded in 1870, the Simmons Bedding Company is an American subsidiary of Serta Simmons Bedding. In early 2023, Serta Simmons Bedding underwent Chapter 11 bankruptcy and finished its reorganization later that year.

Despite its high profile in the mattress industry, Serta Simmons Bedding’s reputation on consumer protection websites is concerningly low. On Trustpilot, the company is rated "Poor" based on 1.9/5 stars, with more than 70% of customer reviews being one star. Serta’s Better Business Bureau profile is rated "F (unaccredited)" with a customer review rating of 1.58/5 stars.

BBB has issued an alert noting a “pattern of complaint” among customers, citing multiple reports of defective or misrepresented products, as well as poor customer service. Many customers report that when they request a replacement mattress, they receive a lower-quality mattress in exchange. Other customers have complained that communication with with customer service stops altogether, with no resolution.

Compare Simmons vs Juno

Should You Buy Simmons?

The Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress has good motion isolation and edge support. However, it doesn't come with a sleep trial, it only has an industry-standard warranty, and return policies vary widely depending on the retailer.

We recommend Juno instead. Juno offers exceptional value at just $499 for a queen size. Featuring a layer of cooling gel foam and an optional Cool+ cover upgrade, Juno comes with a 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.

As an added bonus, your purchase also comes with a free free build-your-own bedding bundle that includes a mattress protector, your choice of pillow(s), and a bonus item like a duvet or sheet set. You won't get that with a Simmons mattress.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Simmons mattresses good?

The Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress performed well in third-party engineer testing. However, it doesn’t come with cooling features or an at-home sleep trial, and its 10-year warranty is only industry-standard.

We think you should consider Juno instead. Priced at just $499 for a queen size, Juno offers a layer of cooling gel-infused foam and an optional Cool+ cover upgrade to keep you from sleeping hot. Juno also comes with a 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty, with free return pickup service.

Does Simmons still make mattresses?

Yes, Simmons continues to make mattresses. Its parent company, Serta Simmons Bedding, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early 2023 and completed financial restructuring later that year. Simmons mattresses are available for purchase through retailers like Costco and Amazon.

Does Costco sell a Simmons mattress?

At the time this review was published, Costco sells the Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress. However, with Simmon's Canadian website being non-functional at the time of this review, it's unclear if other Simmons products will become available at retailers like Costco in the future.

What's the Simmons mattress warranty?

The Simmons Gel Memory Foam mattress comes with an industry-standard 10-year manufacturer’s limited warranty. This warranty covers defects in workmanship and material only.

Do Simmons mattresses have fiberglass?

No, Simmons mattresses made in Canada don’t have fiberglass. Fiberglass is a common fire safety feature in mattresses made in countries like the United States and China. By federal Canadian law, however, mattresses made in Canada may not contain fiberglass.

What Simmons mattress alternatives should I consider?

We think you should check out Juno. Available at just $499 for a queen size, Juno has a medium-firm feel that's ideal for all sleep styles. Juno is also available in a wider range of sizes, including including twin XL, king, California king, and RV sizes. Its layer of cooling gel and optional Cool+ cover upgrade are also great if you’re a hot sleeper. With a 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty, Juno offers more value for its price.

Best of all, your purchase also comes with a free build-your-own bedding bundle that comes with a mattress protector, your choice of pillow(s), and a bonus item like a duvet or sheet set.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

For online shoppers, Costco offers free shipping and standard door delivery via FedEx, which is ideal if you can’t bring a mattress home in your vehicle. Costco estimates that the mattress will arrive on your doorstep 7–10 business days.

While GhostBed offers a sleep trial, Costco doesn’t—meaning this mattress doesn’t come with a sleep trial. Instead, you can use Costco’s standard return policy. Costco only provides return pickup for mattresses purchased online, so if you bought yours in-store, you’ll need to bring it back to the warehouse yourself. (In comparison, similar brands like Logan & Cove offer a 365-night sleep trial, free pickups and returns, and a full refund if you aren’t satisfied with your mattress.)

GhostBed Fusion is covered by the manufacturer’s 25-year limited warranty. The warranty covers indentations over 1 inch not caused by a sagging foundation and any material cracking from normal use. After 10 years, you’ll need to pay at least 50% of the original price for a replacement.

While returns are arranged with Costco, you may have to deal with GhostBed’s customer service. GhostBed has received many complaints from customers on third-party review sites like BBB and Trustpilot. These issues are related to issues with GhostBed not honouring their own policies about returns and warranty claims.

GhostBed Fusion Mattress Construction

GhostBed is a hybrid mattress that stands 11" high and has 4 distinct interior layers.

  • Layer 1: The top layer is a 2″ blend of memory foam and latex, which is infused with gel and graphite. This layer will contour around your body. The gel and graphite infusions, as well as the latex, contribute to the mattress’s cooling properties.
  • Layer 2: The second layer is 2″ of the company's proprietary “GhostReflex” foam, which is supposed to contour around your body and provide full-body support. It's not clear how the foam is designed to provide these benefits.
  • Layer 3: The third layer is 6″ of pocketed coils, which provide responsive support. The coils are also reinforced around the perimeter of the mattress, providing improved edge support so you can comfortably sit on the edge of the mattress.
  • Layer 4: The bottom layer is 1″ of high-density base foam, which acts as the mattress’s support layer.

GhostBed’s “Ghost Ice” top cover contains polyester, polypropylene, and spandex. It’s used on most GhostBed mattresses, including GhostBed Fusion. That said, Fusion’s law label doesn’t list these materials, and neither does the Costco website.

It’s not clear how the cover’s cooling properties are supposed to work. According to the GhostBed website, the cover may contain phase-change material, but this also isn’t mentioned on the mattress’s law label.

The cover isn’t removable or machine washable. In case of any spills or stains, Fusion’s cover should only be spot-cleaned.

Company Background

GhostBed’s parent company, Nature’s Sleep, was founded in 2001 by Marc Werner. However, the company’s first bed-in-a-box mattress—The GhostBed, now known as GhostBed Classic—didn’t launch until 2015. It was shortly followed by the GhostPillow and other sleep products.

The GhostBed brand is associated with celebrities like Venus Williams who claim to be happy with their GhostBed mattress. Customers, on the other hand, have filed a large number of complaints related to returns and warranty claims. In fact, one customer's negative experience with GhostBed’s return policy was highlighted on CBC Go Public.

At the time this review was written, GhostBed is rated “Bad” on Trustpilot. The business also has a “B” (unaccredited) rating on BBB and a customer review rating of 1.17/5 stars. Common complaints include false advertising, product quality, and difficulty arranging refunds or returns.

One of the most concerning BBB complaints comes from a customer who purchased a mattress on sale. This customer found that if they wanted to return the mattress, they would have to pay for the discounts applied to their order. We have observed GhostBed raising their prices during sales to provide a greater “discount” (see August 2023 vs December 2023), meaning customers have to pay a greater amount to return a mattress purchased on sale.

Most recently, the company issued a recall of the GhostBed Natural line of mattresses in 2024. The Consumer Product Safety Commission states that “the mattresses violate the smoldering ignition requirements of the federal mattress flammability regulation, posing a fire hazard.”

What are the best pillows in Canada?

From down fill to memory foam, there are many different types of pillows for you to choose from. Your pillow should contour around your body, be the right height for your sleep style, and fit your budget.

The Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow is our top pick for the best pillow in Canada. It contains individual pieces of cooling gel memory foam that can be added or removed to adjust the pillow’s height. The pillow’s customizable support makes it a great choice for a wide range of body types and sleep styles.

It comes with a machine-washable outer shell, a 120-night sleep trial, and a 3-year warranty. It’s also more affordably priced than many other pillows, at just $89 for a standard size.

Finding the perfect pillow is as essential as picking the right mattress, yet it’s not always easy to know where to start. Your sleeping position, body weight, and comfort preferences all play a role in determining which pillow will give you the best night’s sleep.

The right pillow depends on your sleep style. Side sleepers usually need a high-loft pillow for spinal alignment, while back sleepers do well with medium-loft, and stomach sleepers benefit from a low-loft option. Materials and budget also play a role in your decision.

We’ve purchased pillows from popular retailers in Canada and have objectively rated them based on our first-hand impressions, our industry knowledge, and the features that are most important to you, like comfort, support, and value.

Keep reading to discover our top pillow picks and see our in-depth reviews of each one.

Logan & Cove

Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow

Standard $89
Our Rating

8.5 /10

Rather than an old-school block of solid memory foam, the Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow is filled with precisely cut cooling gel memory foam. The precision cutting means that the memory foam filling doesn’t clump, and the materials can shift and contour around your body.

Since these pillows are adjustable, you can customize the loft (height) to suit your personal preference. The pillow comes with a machine-washable cotton outer shell that complements the cooling properties of the cooling gel memory foam filling.

The Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow comes with a 120-night sleep trial, a 3-year warranty, and free shipping. It’s also more affordably priced than many other pillows, at just $89 for a standard size.

Juno

Juno Down Alternative Pillow

Standard $129
Our Rating

8.2 /10

The Canadian-made Juno Down Alternative Pillows have a microgel filling that provides a plush, fluffy feel similar to the softness of a down pillow. Plus, the microgel filling is made without using animal products, making it a kinder and cruelty-free option.

The pillow's low to medium height (low to mid loft) makes it ideal for a wide range of sleepers. It features a 400-thread-count cotton cover that’s spot-clean only, but the hypoallergenic materials are a nice touch. The pillows are Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® certified and Global Recycle Standard certified.

What really sets Juno Down Alternative Pillows apart from other pillows is their value. Juno sells its pillows in a 2-pack, while many other retailers sell their pillows individually. These pillows also come with a 120-night sleep trial and a 3-year warranty.

Douglas

Douglas Gel Memory Foam Pillow

Standard $99
Our Rating

7.7 /10

Fed up with flipping your pillow to find a cool spot? The Douglas Cooling Gel Pillow provides lasting comfort and keeps you cool, perfect for hot sleepers.

It features a solid memory foam filling that conforms to support your neck and head. This solid memory foam block has a heat-dissipating gel pad to prevent overheating. This pillow's cover is machine washable and also made with CryoFusion™ cooling yarn, which makes it feel soft and cool to the touch.

The pillow’s lower loft makes it more suitable for stomach and back sleepers. Compared to other cooling gel pillows, the Douglas Cooling Gel Pillow is reasonably priced at $99 for a standard size. It also comes with a 120-night sleep trial and a 3-year warranty.

Endy

Endy Customizable Pillow

Standard $85
Our Rating

6.9 /10

Endy’s Customizable Pillow has a shredded memory foam filling, which can be added or removed to your preference. This allows you to adjust the height of the pillow and allows for more contouring.

That said, our reviewers found that the pillow we received for this review appeared to be under-stuffed. It came with noticeably less filling than the Logan & Cove Adjustable Memory Foam Pillow. Your experience could be different, but for our reviewers, the fully filled pillow only provided a medium loft—less than ideal if you prefer a higher loft.

The cotton outer shell is machine washable, making these pillows easy to maintain. They have a 3-year warranty but come with a shorter-than-average sleep trial of just 60 nights, compared to Logan & Cove’s 120-night pillow trial.

Silk & Snow

Silk & Snow Eco Soy Pillow

Standard $199
Our Rating

6.5 /10

The Silk & Snow Eco Soy Pillow is a memory foam pillow with a perforated polyurethane memory foam core. While Silk & Snow states that the foam is infused with soy oil, the pillow’s law label didn’t include this in its list of materials.

These pillows are available in two firmness options: firm and soft. The pillows that we received didn’t have any marking on the label, so it’s not clear which firmness option we received. That said, our reviewers found our pillow to be quite firm and doesn’t have much sink. The combination of firmness and medium loft make this pillow best suited for side and back sleepers.

The pillow's outer shell is made from polyester and Tencel™ (also known as lyocell, a plant-based semi-synthetic fibre). Polyester provides durability, while Tencel™ offers softness and breathability. Tencel™ is also hypoallergenic.

The outer shell is removable and machine washable for added convenience. The pillows come with a 3-year warranty and a 100-night sleep trial. However, they’re also considerably more expensive than other memory foam pillow options at $199 for a queen-size pillow.

Layla

Layla Pillows

Queen $128
Our Rating

6.3 /10

Similar to other memory foam pillows on this list, Layla Memory Foam Pillows have shredded filling, allowing you to adjust your pillow to suit your sleep needs. These pillows are also machine-washable for added convenience. The outer shell is made of polyester, which our reviewers commented felt soft and cool to the touch.

However, the pillow filling is a combination of shredded memory foam and polyester fibres. Our reviewers found this slightly disappointing given that a queen-size pillow costs $128 (converted from USD). Additionally, with the amount of filling that’s provided, these pillows can only reach a medium loft.

It’s important to note that Layla doesn’t ship to Canada for free. If you plan to purchase mattresses and pillows from Layla, you’ll need to pay a shipping fee of $250 USD. The Layla website also doesn’t include currency anywhere, so it’s not clear that you paid in USD until the cost appears on your credit card.

GhostBed

GhostPillow Gel Memory Pillow

Standard $179
Our Rating

6.2 /10

Advertised as “The Coolest Pillow in the World,” the gel memory foam GhostPillow is a solid block of moulded and perforated polyurethane memory foam topped with phase-change material. It has an inner mesh cover and is wrapped in the Ghost Ice Cover, which has an unknown composition.

The pillow's low loft makes it suitable for stomach and side sleepers, but it’s not ideal for back sleepers or those who prefer a mid-to-high loft. The outer shell is made of polyethylene and polyester and is machine-washable for added convenience.

The pillow is regularly priced at $179, which is on the higher end for a memory foam pillow. However, like their mattresses, GhostBeds pillows are regularly offered at a discounted price. This sounds appealing, but it's worth noting that GhostBed is rated “Bad” on Trustpilot and has received negative media attention in the past.

Casper

Original Casper Pillow

Standard $89
Our Rating

4.7 /10

The Original Casper Pillow is a down alternative pillow with polyester microfiber fill that mimics the plushness of down. It has a medium-loft design, which makes these pillows suitable for back sleepers, and a machine-washable cotton outer shell for easy maintenance.

While the cotton outer shell provides some breathability, polyester is not known for its cooling abilities. You may find that these pillows don’t live up to Casper’s claims that they are breathable and keep you cool throughout the night.

Our reviewers noted the fabric material felt thin, which is disappointing considering its price tag of $89 for a standard pillow—more expensive than average for a single-down alternative pillow. The pillow also comes with only a 30-night sleep trial and a 1-year warranty. In comparison, Juno’s Down Alternative Pillows come in a 2-pack, with a 120-night trial and a 3-year warranty.

Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic Adapt™ Pillow

Queen $299
Our Rating

3.0 /10

The Tempur-Pedic Adapt™ Pillow is a memory foam pillow featuring a solid block of Tempur memory foam. Its medium loft makes it suitable for back and side sleepers. Our testers found that the pillow provided good contouring and felt cool to the touch.

The top portion of the outer shell is a polyester and polyethylene blend, and the bottom is made with polyester and spandex. With a segmented outer shell, sleepers may feel less inclined to flip their pillow, which could reduce its longevity. The outer shell also isn’t machine-washable, so you’ll have to spot-clean it.

Priced at $299 for a queen-size pillow, the Tempur-Pedic Adapt™ Pillow comes at a significantly higher price tag than the other pillows on this list. While it comes with a 10-year warranty, it doesn’t come with a sleep trial. Sleep Country only provides returns and exchanges within 30 days for unopened and unused accessories.

IKEA

IKEA KLUBBSPORRE

Queen $69
Our Rating

3.0 /10

Due to its shape, IKEA KLUBBSPORRE is marketed as an ergonomic pillow. It’s made with a solid block of memory foam, is topped with a gel layer on both sides, and has a unique bean shape.

The pillow's machine-washable outer shell is made of polyethylene and polyester. Our reviewers noted that it felt very smooth and cool to the touch. The foam provides good contouring, and its low loft makes this pillow suitable for side and back sleepers. That said, not all sleepers may be fans of the pillow's unique shape.

Priced at $69 for a queen pillow size, IKEA KLUBBSPORE is affordably priced for an ergonomic pillow. However, you’ll have to either purchase the pillow in-store or use the company’s pick-and-collect service. IKEA doesn’t ship pillows and smaller items directly to customers.

The pillow also doesn’t seem to come with a sleep trial or product warranty, but you can use IKEA’s return policy. This policy allows you to return new and unopened products within 365 days. Opened and unused products can be returned within 90 days, but this is at the discretion of IKEA staff.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Logan & Cove offers free shipping for most mattress deliveries in Canada. Including time taken to dispatch your order, your mattress will arrive in 2–11 business days, conveniently packed in a cardboard box and wrapped in two layers of plastic. Once unpacked, it expands to its full size in just a few minutes.

The company offers a 365-night sleep trial, one of the longest in Canada, and a 15-year warranty. Logan and Cove recommend trying their mattress for at least 30 days to give yourself time to break it in and adjust to your new sleeping environment before initiating a return. If you need more than 30 days, the 365-night trial allows you to initiate a return at any point during that period.

Logan & Cove offers a straightforward return process and a full refund. The company will even arrange to have the mattress picked up, at no extra cost.

  • Layer 5: The fourth layer uses 1” of responsive micro-coils, working with the micro-coil layer above to give your body even more contoured support.
  • Layer 6: The support layer includes 9” of individually wrapped steel pocketed coils arranged in a three-zone system to provide tailored support for your upper, middle, and lower body. Beneath this coil layer is a 0.5” fabric pad for added protection.

We both are a fan of firm mattresses but have had a hard time finding a foam mattress that doesn’t warm up and get softer. This is by far the best mattress we ever purchased. Better than the 4k luxury brand at Sleep Country.

Finally, a mattress I can sleep on without waking up with back pain. The mattress is firm yet soft on top. It feels very supportive too.

Irene G.
Verified Logan & Cove Buyer

I am typically a light sleeper but have been sleeping like a little angel baby since we got this mattress. It is the perfect combination of support and comfort. Would definitely buy this again and recommend it to anyone looking for a new bed.

Sarah K.

All I know is that right from the first night that I slept on it, I felt the most rejuvenated that I have felt in a long time. Also, I don't wake up with a sore back. I'm very happy with the mattress.

I had some lower back pain with my previous mattress. Those issues are gone since switching. I also don't feel my partner's every move during the night. I feel very rested each night. I would recommend this mattress to anyone who is looking for a change.

A comfortable pillow is essential for waking up refreshed and avoiding a painful, stiff neck in the morning. What’s more, finding the right one for your sleeping position can also be tricky:

  • Side sleepers would benefit from a softer pillow with a higher loft to keep the neck properly aligned.
  • Stomach sleepers, on the other hand, are better off with a medium to medium-firm pillow with a thinner loft to maintain a comfortable neck position.
  • Back sleepers should opt for a balance, with a pillow that’s supportive enough without pushing their necks too far forward.

This article explores the various pillow types to see which one best matches your sleeping needs.

Down Alternative Pillow

Down alternative pillows mimic the feel of natural down but are made from synthetic materials, typically polyester fibres. Polyester is known for its durability but isn’t as breathable as other fabrics.

Down alternative pillows are designed to provide a similar softness and loft as down pillows, but without using animal products, making them more affordable, sustainable, and hypoallergenic. If used regularly, these pillows may need to be replaced every 1–2 years.

Best for: Back and side sleepers, due to their fluffy nature and their medium-soft to medium feel.

Down alternative pillow graphic

Feather Pillow

Feather pillows are filled with the outer feathers of ducks or geese, making them soft, flexible, and supportive. Although feather pillows are more budget-friendly than down pillows, they’re typically flatter and firmer.

Not all feather pillows are hypoallergenic, and some incorporate down for a balance of softness and support. They also must be fluffed regularly to maintain their loft, but with proper care, feather pillows can last 5–10 years.

Best for: Back and side sleepers, due to the mid-to-low loft that promotes neck and spine alignment.

Feather pillow graphic

Down Pillow

Down pillows are filled with quill-less feather clusters from the underbelly and chest of birds such as ducks or geese. This material is prized for its exceptional softness and provides great insulation, making these pillows particularly light and fluffy. Down pillows also provide ample support and head and neck contouring.

Not all down pillows use ethically sourced materials, however. Look for down pillows certified by Responsible Down Standard or DOWNMARK®.

Similar to feather pillows, down pillows should be fluffed regularly but should have a longer lifespan of 5–10 years.

Best for: Side, stomach, and back sleepers.

Down pillow graphic

Cotton Pillow

Cotton pillows are filled with cotton, a natural fibre known for its softness, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties. They are often encased in cotton fabric, making them a popular choice for people looking for a pillow made of more natural materials.

Cotton pillows tend to be flatter and have less “sink” when you rest your head against them. Although cotton pillows are often machine-washable and easier to care for than other pillow options, they need to be washed regularly, which shortens their lifespan.

Depending on the quality of the cotton, you should replace your cotton pillow every 1–3 years.

Best for: Back and stomach sleepers who want a low-to-mid loft.

Cotton pillow graphic

Polyester Pillow

Polyester pillows are made with polyester fill and shell, and are a popular budget-friendly choice. These pillows are popular due to their affordability and availability in a wide variety of sizes. However, they may not be ideal for hot sleepers as polyester pillows tend to absorb heat.

Polyester is often used in pillow filling because it is cheaper, durable, lightweight, and can mimic the feel of down or other natural materials, albeit not as breathable. Polyester fill tends to lend a soft and fluffy feel to pillows but can be produced with varying levels of firmness. With regular use, polyester pillows can last 1–2 years.

Best for: All types of sleepers, as they can be produced to different firmness levels.

Polyester pillow graphic

Memory Foam Pillow

Pillows made of memory foam (also known as viscoelastic foam) can have a solid (a single piece of foam) or shredded memory foam filling.

Unlike shredded memory foam pillows, which contain small pieces of foam allowing for adjustability and breathability, solid memory foam pillows have a uniform structure that will better retain their shape, providing a firmer feel and support.

Depending on the density and type of foam used, memory foam pillows can vary in price and durability. On average, memory foam pillows can last for 2–3 years.

Best for: Back and stomach sleepers. If the pillow has an adjustable loft, it can also be suitable for side sleepers.

Shredded Memory Foam Pillow

Solid Memory Foam Pillow

Bamboo Pillow

Bamboo pillows are typically made with a cover made of bamboo fibres and a filling made of memory foam, shredded foam, or a combination of both.

Bamboo fibres are derived from the pulp of the bamboo plant and are known for being environmentally friendly, antimicrobial, cooling, and breathable. With proper care, they can last for 2–3 years.

Best for: Back sleepers due to the firmer feel of the memory foam filling.

Bamboo pillow graphic

Latex Pillow

Latex pillows are made from natural, synthetic, or blended latex. Latex is a material derived from the sap of rubber trees or produced synthetically.

This type of pillow is available in both solid and shredded forms. Latex pillows are known for their support of the head and neck, durability, and softness.

Depending on the frequency of use and level of care, latex pillows can last 3–7 years.

Best for: Side and back sleepers due to their balanced softness, support, and higher loft.

Latex pillow graphic

Wool Pillow

Wool pillows are pillows filled with natural wool fibres, often encased in a cotton or other natural fabric cover. Wool is a natural fibre grown on animals and is known for its breathability, durability, moisture-wicking properties, and temperature regulation.

These pillows can be expensive, but they are a popular choice for those seeking a natural and hypoallergenic option. Wool pillows, with proper care, can last for a long time.

Best for: Side and back sleepers due to their soft to medium firmness and medium loft.

Wool pillow graphic

Gel Pillow

Gel pillows are designed with a layer or infusion of cooling gel, usually combined with memory foam or latex, to provide a cooler sleeping surface.

The gel layer is usually firm and helps to dissipate heat, making it popular among those who tend to sleep hot. This type of pillow offers the contouring support of memory foam, but with the added benefit of temperature regulation.

With regular use and proper care, gel pillows can last for 2–5 years.

Best for: Stomach, back, and hot sleepers due to their lower loft, firmness level, and cooling properties.

Cooling gel pillow graphics

Buckwheat Pillow

Buckwheat pillows are filled with the hard outer shells (husks) of buckwheat seeds. They have been used for centuries, particularly in East Asia. They are known for their ability to maintain natural spinal alignment and prevent neck pain.

A well-maintained buckwheat pillow can last 8–10 years, and even longer if you periodically replace the hulls and let them air out in the sun.

Best for: Back and stomach sleepers due to their firmness and the level of support they provide.

Buckwheat pillow graphic

Microbead Pillow

Microbead pillows are made with tiny polystyrene beads, similar to those found in bean bags. The outer casing is usually made from a stretchy, soft fabric that allows the beads to move freely inside.

These pillows provide customizable support similar to buckwheat pillows, contouring to the shape of the head and neck. While they offer some breathability and malleability, they can lose shape faster than other fills. Microbead pillows can last 1–3 years with proper care.

Best for: Back sleepers due to their higher firmness level.

Microbead pillow graphic

Kapok Pillow

Kapok pillows are filled with natural kapok fibres derived from the seed pods of the kapok tree, primarily found in tropical regions such as Southeast Asia and Central America.

These fibres are lighter than cotton, fluffy, and have a down-like quality, making kapok pillows soft and light. Some pillows can also blend kapok and other materials, such as latex, which may be more supportive.

The outer covers of kapok pillows are typically made from organic cotton or other breathable, natural materials.

Kapok pillows can last for over 10 years, with proper care (fluffing and sun-drying).

Best for: Back sleepers due to the minimal resistance they offer.

Kapok pillow graphic

Orthopedic Pillow

Orthopedic pillows are specially designed according to orthopedic guidelines to provide support and alignment for the neck, spine, and other parts of the body. They can help relieve pain and discomfort associated with poor sleeping posture, medical conditions, or injuries.

They are typically made from high-density memory foam, latex, or other supportive materials that contour to the body’s shape. The lifespan of an orthopedic pillow may depend on the material it is made from.

Best for: Sleepers who have neck, shoulder, or back pain, or are recovering from injuries.

Orthopedic pillow

Body Pillow

Body pillows are long, narrow pillows designed to provide full-body support. They can be log-shaped, U-shaped, or C-shaped. They are often used to enhance comfort during sleep by supporting the head, neck, back, hips, and legs.

They are typically marketed as pregnancy products and filled with microbeads, down, or memory foam. The materials used will determine the pillow’s durability and lifetime.

Best for: Pregnancy, side sleepers, and those who like to hug a pillow when they go to sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of pillow is best for side sleepers?

Side sleepers would benefit from a pillow with a softer feel and a higher loft. We recommend an adjustable memory foam pillow for side sleepers.

What type of pillow is best for stomach sleepers?

A pillow with a thinner loft, some cooling properties, and a firmer feel is ideal for stomach sleepers. We recommend a gel memory foam pillow if you prefer sleeping on your stomach.

How can you wash pillows?

Machine-washable pillows should be washed on a gentle cycle with warm water and mild detergent. When drying, squeeze out as much water as possible from the pillows and then use the delicate setting on low heat or no heat for several drying cycles. These include:

  • Down pillows
  • Down alternative pillows
  • Polyester pillows
  • Feather pillows
  • Cotton pillows

Some pillows can be fully washed but need to be cleaned by hand and air-dried. These include:

  • Wool pillows
  • Microbead pillows

Pillows that can’t be fully immersed in water (and can’t be hand- or machine-washed) should be spot-cleaned. These include:

  • Any pillows with memory foam (including gel pillows)
  • Latex pillows
  • Bamboo pillows

To clean buckwheat pillows, remove the hulls, wash the removable pillowcase, and air-dry the hulls under the sun before returning them to the clean pillowcase. Avoid soaking the hulls in water, as this will damage them.

How do you fluff a pillow?

To fluff a pillow, shake it vigorously and push the sides to redistribute the filling. You can also fold and release it, or tumble it in the dryer on a no-heat setting for 10–15 minutes.

For a natural option, air the pillow outside or in a well-ventilated area. Regularly rotate and flip the pillow to maintain its shape.

How often should you change your pillows?

Over time, pillows lose their support and the fill material, whatever it may be, can start to break down. Pillows should generally be replaced every couple of years. However, depending on the type of pillow and its typical lifespan, you may have to change out your pillow sooner or later.

Where do you buy pillows?

You can buy pillows online directly through Canadian mattress and bedding brands such as Douglas, Logan & Cove and Juno, or through retailers such as Amazon. You can also buy pillows in person through department stores, home goods stores, and bedding stores.

Finding the right pillow is key to a great night’s sleep, and different types suit different needs. Choose the pillow that best suits your needs, and experience the difference in your sleep quality. Here are our top picks for the best pillows in Canada:

Mattress Breakdown

We compared Logan & Cove Choice and Stearns & Foster Lakeridge to see which mattress is right for you. Both are breathable, Canadian-made hybrid mattresses with a medium-firm feel—but the similarities end there.

Stearns & Foster Lakeridge has a pillow-top cover, a moisture-resistant upper layer, a two-part gel layer, and a ventilation system to keep the mattress breathable. While Stearns & Foster has above-average motion isolation, it falls short in edge support.

Logan & Cove’s parent company is rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot, with 4,500+ verified five-star customer reviews. Stearns & Foster is a part of Tempur Sealy International, which is rated "A+" with the Better Business Bureau, but with a customer review score of 1.08/5 at the time of publication. On Trustpilot, Stearns & Foster has a "Poor" rating. Some customers have complained about difficulty getting Stearns & Foster to honour the product warranty, as well as issues with their mattresses sagging, which could be attributed to the mattress’s heavy weight.

Logan & Cove Choice stands out with its plush, quilted cooling cover and innovative cooling technologies. CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres, cooling gel foam, latex-like Elastex® foam, and a breathable quilted top layer help keep this mattress cool and breathable throughout the night. With over 900 coils and a three-zone comfort system, this mattress offers comprehensive body support, excellent motion isolation, enhanced airflow, and superior edge support.

We’ve compiled all the essential information about Logan & Cove and Stearns & Foster to help you make an accurate comparison and choose your next mattress.

Feel

Both Stearns & Foster Lakeridge and Logan & Cove Choice are medium-firm mattresses, but Stearns & Foster has a softer feel and more sinkage. The amount of sinkage could make it more difficult to move and change positions throughout the night. Logan & Cove Choice has less “hug” and more responsiveness than Stearns & Foster Lakeridge, thanks to the latex-like Elastex® layer.

Edge Support

Hybrid mattresses are known for good edge support, thanks to their supportive coil layers.

However, the Stearns & Foster mattress scored below average for edge support, at just 4.3/10. You may have trouble sitting on the edge of the bed and getting up in the morning, especially if you have mobility issues.

In comparison, Logan & Cove has very good edge support with a score of 7.5/10. With Logan & Cove, you can comfortably sit on the edge of the bed, making it easy to get in and out of bed.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is crucial for an uninterrupted night’s sleep, especially with a restless partner, kids, or pets. Both Stearns & Foster Lakeridge and Logan & Cove Choice excelled in this area, scoring above average.

Stearns & Foster scored 6.3/10, which is above-average for a foam mattress. That said, Logan & Cove earned a higher score of 7.5/10, meaning you should feel minimal disturbance from the other side of the bed.

Bounce

Hybrid and innerspring mattresses typically offer additional bounce due to their springy coil systems. Stearns & Foster’s bounce score of 3.7/10 is on the lower end for a hybrid mattress. Logan & Cove has a higher rating of 5.8/10, which would be considered slightly above-average for a hybrid mattress.

Logan & Cove outperforms Stearns & Foster in responsiveness with a higher bounce score, making it easier to change positions at night or get out of bed.

Cooling Features

Logan & Cove Choice and Stearns & Foster Lakeridge both offer cooling features to help sleepers stay comfortable throughout the night. But despite its higher price, Stearns & Foster only earned a cooling features score of 4.7/10. This score is due to the mattress’s moisture-resistant cover, gel foam layer, pocketed coils, and ventilation system.

The more affordable Logan & Cove Choice earned a cooling features score of 4.4/10. This score is due to its cooling nanofibre cover, its top layer of cooling gel and hollow fibre fill, layer of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam, layer of breathable Elastex® foam, as well as pocketed coils that support airflow and breathability. If you’re looking for a luxury hybrid mattress that keeps temperatures balanced as you sleep, Logan & Cove is your best choice.

Mattress Construction

Logan & Cove Choice has 4 layers and multiple advanced cooling features such as cooling gel foam and latex-like Elastex® foam. It also contains a layer of aeroduct micro-coils and a three-zone coil system for full-body support and responsive pressure relief.

Stearns & Foster Lakeridge has 5 layers, including cooling gel foam, support foam, and packed coils. These layers combine to provide good body contouring and motion isolation. However, it’s not clear what one of the foam layers if made of, since it’s not included in the construction diagram on the Costco website.

Logan & Cove Choice Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The first layer is 1" of breathable hollow fibre fill and cooling gel-infused foam. It's quilted directly under the tight-top cover, providing a degree of plushness and directly dissipating your body heat when you're lying down.
  • Layer 2: The second layer is 1″ of ecoLuxe® cooling gel foam. This foam layer provides excellent comfort and pressure-point relief, conforming to your body’s shape while also wicking away heat and moisture.
  • Layer 3: The third layer is 1″ of Elastex® foam. This layer contours around your body, providing latex-like responsiveness and pressure relief, but without any of the allergy-causing chemicals in many natural latex mattresses.
  • Layer 4: The support layer is 9″ of individually pocketed coils. Made of double-tempered steel, these coils are divided into 3 body-supporting zones to give contouring support for your back and hips. This layer is also encased with 4″-thick edge support foam along the sidewalls to give you more support when sitting on your bed, or lying farther away from the middle.

Logan & Cove distinguishes itself with a plush, quilted cover made using polyester, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and spandex, and CryoFusion™ cooling nanofibres. Combined with the top layer’s breathable hollow fibre fill and gel-infused foam, the cover’s cooling nanofibres create a cool-to-the-touch and luxuriously soft surface. The mattress cover isn’t removable and should only be spot-cleaned.

Stearns & Foster Lakeridge Mattress Layers

  • Layer 1: The gel foam comfort layer contours to your body’s shape, relieves pressure, and helps keep you cool during the night.
  • Layer 2: The memory foam layer adds extra comfort. Because it’s below the cooling top layer, you may not notice the overheating that’s often associated with memory foam.
  • Layer 3: This is the thickest foam layer, but it’s not clear what type of foam it’s made of. This layer doesn’t appear in the construction diagram shown on the Costco website.
  • Layer 4: This layer is made up of packed coils that support your body while you sleep. It’s not clear how many coils there are or what type of metal they’re composed of.
  • Layer 5: The foam support layer helps provide structure for all the layers above. A mattress's support layer often has a higher foam density than other layers, but we weren’t able to determine material or density for Lakeridge.

Stearns & Foster’s mattress cover also isn’t machine washable. It incorporates TENCEL fibres, which is a breathable moisture-wicking fabric often found in athletic wear. However, the pillow-top provides a “sink” that may trap heat, negating the mattress cover’s cooling benefits.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Costco provides free shipping and a “white-glove” delivery service, which includes transporting the mattress to your desired location, setting it up, and removing all packaging materials. This free shipping service is useful for those who can’t transport a mattress in their vehicle, especially since Stearns & Foster Lakeridge is quite heavy (127 lb for a queen size; 165 lb for a king). Delivery time (including shipping dispatch) can take 10–15 business days, which may not be ideal if you want to receive your mattress immediately.

Logan & Cove delivers via FedEx, conveniently bringing your mattress right to your doorstep in 2–11 business days. Shipping is free across most of Canada, but there may be extra delivery costs for remote areas. Each mattress is packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and wrapped in heavy-duty plastic. After unboxing and unrolling, the Logan & Cove mattress expands completely within minutes, allowing you to use it the same day it arrives.

Logan & Cove has a risk-free 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty. You can return your mattress for a full refund, and Logan & Cove will pick up returns for free within the sleep trial period. They will either donate your returned mattress to a local charity in your area or recycle the mattress if a donation isn’t possible.

With Stearns & Foster, you’ll have a 10-year warranty offered through the manufacturer. While Stearns & Foster has a N/A-night sleep trial, you can also use Costco’s normal extended return policy. If you’re unsatisfied with your mattress and you want to return it, Costco will pick up online orders. If you purchased it in-store, you’ll need to bring it back to the store yourself.

Stearns & Foster began in 1846 as an upholstery manufacturer for horse-drawn carriages, specializing in the cotton padding and wadding that filled carriage seats. After establishing itself in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company expanded into producing high-end mattresses for hotels.

In 1944, Stearns & Foster expanded their manufacturing into Canada, opening a factory in Saint-Narcisse, Québec. In 1993, Stearns & Foster merged with Sealy (formerly the Ohio Mattress Company). As of 2022, the company says that all of its Stearns & Foster-brand mattresses are individually hand-assembled over the course of a day, typically by teams of four people. Only one person’s signature is found on each mattress.

Stearns & Foster is part of Tempur Sealy International, Incorporated. Tempur Sealy maintains an "A+" rating on the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which is in direct contrast to its current 1.1/5 customer review score and over 700 complaints. Common customer complaints include premature sagging, mattresses feeling too firm or soft , and customer service issues.

The company has very few customer reviews on Trustpilot and is rated "Poor" on Trustpilot, with a 2.7/5-star rating at the time this review was written. The limited number of reviews makes it hard to know whether customers will receive a well-made product backed by a trustworthy company and return policy.

Molblly Mattress Sizes & Prices

Molblly has an unusual pricing strategy for a brand with a limited size range. Twin mattresses are priced higher than queen mattresses. This strategy is uncommon in the industry, and we couldn’t find any reason for this pricing choice.

Prices are taken from mattress brand websites or third-party retailers and don’t account for current sales or promotions. We check these prices for accuracy on a monthly basis. Learn more >

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

Note: The Molblly mattress and other Molblly products appear to be discontinued for sale, and are no longer available for purchase on the company’s Amazon page.

Molblly delivers its mattresses via Amazon’s delivery service. It should reach your doorstep in 5–25 business days, including dispatch and delivery—a longer-than-average timeline for a mattress in a box. If you have an Amazon Prime account, you may be eligible for quicker shipping times.

Shipping is free to most postal codes but may take longer and incur additional fees if you live in a remote area. For example, we checked the delivery cost for a location in the Northwest Territories and were quoted $552.60 in additional shipping fees.

There is no sleep trial for Molblly mattresses purchased through Amazon. You can return an unopened Molblly within 30 days of purchase for a refund, but Amazon does not accept returns for unboxed and expanded mattresses. Amazon may also deduct part of your refund as a restocking fee, even if you received free shipping to begin with.

Molblly comes with an industry-standard 10-year warranty. At the time this review was published, Molblly’s website was under construction and the Amazon store page didn’t outline what the warranty includes. That said, most mattress companies offer a limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects, but not incidental damage.

In comparison, competitor mattress Juno offers a 120-night sleep trial, a longer 15-year warranty, and full refunds with free return pickup service.

Shop Juno for a 120-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty.

Molblly Mattress Construction

Molblly stands 10” tall and has 3 foam layers. All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified, but Molblly doesn’t disclose the densities of the specific foams used.

  • Layer 1: The top layer is 2" of cooling gel-infused memory foam. This layer conforms the most to your body's shape while you're lying down, and dissipates your body heat.
  • Layer 2: The middle layer is 2.5" of unspecified high-density polyurethane foam. This layer prevents you from feeling the denser support layer below.
  • Layer 3: The support layer is 5.5" of high-density foam. This layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, and stops you from sinking too deeply into the mattress.

The breathable mattress cover accounts for the remaining 0.5″ height. It’s made of 100% polyester, and although the cover has a zipper, Molblly doesn’t indicate on its Amazon product page whether or not it’s machine-washable. We recommend spot-cleaning any spills or stains just to be safe.

Disclaimer: Note that Molblly changed their mattress design shortly before this review was published. If you choose to purchase a Molblly mattress, yours may look different.

Company Background

Molblly is a bed-in-a-box company founded in 2007 that sells mostly through Amazon, Canada’s top e-commerce retailer. Molblly is one of many mattress brands that operate on the website, as well as one of the most popular. Their product lineup consists of affordable foam mattresses that are available in different heights and colours.

Despite its relatively popular profile on Amazon, the company lacks a BBB profile. The company has a “Average” rating on Trustpilot with 3.8/5 stars. However, 20% of the customer reviews are only 1 star.

Some customers have reported difficulty dealing with Molblly's customer service. Other common complaints include the company's mattresses sagging and degrading relatively soon after purchase, as well as issues with delivery. Several reviews left on Amazon also say that the mattress contains fiberglass, which is a significant health hazard.

Buy from a mattress company that’s rated “A+” on BBB and “Excellent” on Trustpilot.

Delivery, Sleep Trial & Returns

GhostBed Luxe ships via FedEx to all parts of Canada. Mattresses ship within 24 hours, according to the company’s website. While this is a fast timeline, it’s likely because products aren’t made to order and are boxed up well in advance. In fact, the GhostBed Luxe mattress we ordered was boxed for roughly 10 months before delivery. Long-term boxed storage can damage a mattress, and GhostBed’s warranty limitations (described below) may not cover that damage.

GhostBed should arrive on your doorstep in 3–5 business days, including dispatch and delivery time. The mattress ships in a cardboard box and is wrapped in plastic for extra protection. GhostBed’s warranty states that it may take 24–48 hours to reach its full size once unboxed. (Note that the warranty also says the mattress may not expand to 100% of its full height.)

You’ll have a 101-night sleep trial to determine whether you want to keep your GhostBed Luxe. This sleep trial begins the day the mattress is shipped to you. However, GhostBed requires that you wait 30 nights before starting a return. The company also charges a restocking fee for returned items, though its Canadian website doesn’t specify how much this fee is or how it is calculated.

Although the company promises hassle-free returns, customer reviews on third-party websites such as Trustpilot and Better Business Bureau claim that the company frequently denies returns. You may also have to pay back any discount that you received when purchasing. This can amount to a refund of nothing, or almost nothing.

GhostBed Luxe comes with a 25-year warranty. This covers any indentation “greater than one (1.0) inch not associated with a sag in the foundation” and “any physical flaw in the mattress causing the material to crack, despite normal usage and proper handling.” The warranty does not cover incidental damage or changes in the mattress’s cooling properties. After 10 years, you’ll also need to pay at least 50% of the original purchase price to replace the mattress under the warranty.

GhostBed Luxe mattress layers

GhostBed Luxe Mattress Construction

GhostBed Luxe is an all-foam cooling mattress that stands 11" high and has 3 distinct interior layers. The GhostBed website states that the mattress has numerous other layers, but we don’t count the mattress cover components or phase-change material as unique layers.

All foam used is CertiPUR-US® certified. GhostBed doesn’t publicly disclose the densities of the foams used in GhostBed Luxe’s construction.

  • Layer 1: The top (comfort) layer of GhostBed Luxe is 2” of cooling gel-infused memory foam that’s been treated with a narrow strip of phase-change material. This layer conforms to your body as you lie down on it, and the cooling gel works to dissipate body heat.
  • Layer 2: The second (transition) layer is a 2” layer of “Ghost Bounce” foam, which stops you from feeling the denser support foam below. It’s also meant to add a slight amount of bounce to the mattress, but the manufacturer doesn’t explain how it achieves this.
  • Layer 3: The bottom (support) layer is 7.5” of high-density base foam. This dense layer gives the mattress most of its bulk, preventing you from sinking too deeply while you’re lying down.

The mattress’s 1.5″ top cover is mostly polyester, with a small amount of spandex. This cover contains a 0.5” layer of cooling polyester fibre and another 1” of cooling gel foam. The cover is removable and machine-washable. However, because the cover contains a compressed layer of foam, it may take longer than expected to fully dry after washing.

Get a cooling mattress with a machine-washable cover for less than half the price.
